Adrienne drops by to check on Amanda and ask some questions about the week's events.

"Hey Zeus, are you home?" Adrienne called out as she rapped on Amanda's apartment door. "I come bearing beer! 'Was in the area and wanted to see how you were doing!"

There was a pause and then the sound of shuffling bare feet on a wooden floor before it opened and revealed a slightly-disheveled witch - Amanda had been napping on the couch, regaining the energy Selene had taken. "Adri?" she said, blinking at the other woman. "Shouldn't you be in bed or something?"

"I've been in bed far too much lately," Adrienne answered with a dismissive flick of her hand. "I had to miss the Red Sox home opener because I knew I'd work myself up too much being there and didn't want to strain, but by today I decided I'd had far too much of my bed. And Kane's bed. Beds in general." She surveyed the younger woman with a scrutinizing eye. "You look like crap, Sefton. Is that Selene's doing?" She hadn't gone looking for details about what had happened in the past few days due to the isolation of bedrest, other than being assured that all the mansionites were safe.

"So, apparently you really do have a hard head," Amanda replied with a grin as she stepped aside to let the older woman in. "Sex as a concussion treatment. I'll have to keep that in mind."

She closed the door behind her friend and waved her towards a chair. "And, yeah, the whole "heroin chic" thing is from Selene. Energy vampire as well as a witch, so dealing with her took a bit out of us, literally."

"Sex is probably a horrible concussion treatment," Adrienne snorted. "The sex was before the concussion. I had a very good birthday," she grinned wolfishly as she took the offered chair and handed over the carrier of beer she'd brought with her. "Energy vampire? Is that really a thing?"

Amanda sank back down on the couch and cracked open the beer, making a face at Adrienne's question. "Sure it is. Selene lived for hundreds of years off other people's energy, used it for her magic as well. I dunno if she was a mutant or not - all I know is I saw her near kill someone in front of me with it once. Nearly killed myself trying to heal them, too."

Opening her own beer, Adrienne made a face. "Well, I hope she was a mutant. Because the idea of there actually being vampires in the world, existing outside of the disturbed minds of emo teenagers and pathetic virgin nerds, is just too scary for me to fathom. So did you guys kill her for real this time, as in, she won't be coming up from the bottom of the ocean again?"

"Dunno if she was a real vampire or just a magic user who figured out how to use people as fuel." Amanda shrugged. "Either way, it doesn't matter any more - she's dead as a doorknob." She glanced at Adrienne, her expression unreadable. "I'm surprised you didn't know already, the whole thing being Hellfire business. New Black Queen took her out."

"I've been bedbound," Adrienne shrugged. "And honestly, after what I went through at the Hellfire Club last week I've been feeling a little bit pissy towards them and felt like getting a little distance from them for a few days. There's a new Black Queen?"

"I thought Emma would have said." Amanda shrugged again and took a swig of her beer. "There was a deal, apparently. The Black Court would give up Selene if the White would support their choice of Queen." Her voice grew flat. "We've run across her before - in fact, she was there when Candra ripped my back up. Belladonna Bordreaux-LeBeau."

Adrienne wasn't sure if letting Trenchcoats know the Frost sisters were on almost friendly terms was something she should be doing, so she kept the answer vague, taking a long swig of beer. "Emma and I haven't had a chance to speak since Selene showed herself. I've heard of Belladonna," she nodded thoughtfully. What Hellfire Club member hadn't? "So obviously Emma thinks she can handle Belladonna better than she could Selene... what do you think?"

"I think she's bitten off more than she can handle," came the reply. "Selene was a monster - she's better off dead - but Belladonna's smart and cunning. And no less bonkers - I'm sure you remember seeing Gambit when you Read Remy's staff. Well, Belladonna married him. Voluntarily."

Pondering all of that over a long pull on her bottle, Adrienne let out a long, weary breath. "Well, it's a good thing Emma has a lot of help, then," she stated, well aware that she was potentialy giving away her position as an ally of Emma's if Amanda didn't assume she meant Doug, as well as making a statement about possibly involving herself with someone who was smart, cunning, and bonkers. It wasn't as if half the people she ran into on a daily basis weren't the same, after all. "I'm sure now that Remy is no longer Gambit he'd be inclined to aid Emma by keeping an eye on Belladonna?"

Amanda snorted. "Let's just say that Remy and Emma aren't exactly on good terms. You forgot the part where I mentioned there was a deal. Emma and Doug stopped us from dealing with Belladonna as well that night. Remy's a bit ticked off, to put it mildly." There was something strange in her tone which indicated she wasn't entirely happy with the situation either. "The only aiding Remy will do is if it's to put Belladonna in the ground and all."

"Well, maybe that's what Emma's going to need one day," Adrienne answered, though she didn't sound entirely happy either. If it did get out that she was allied with her sister, Adrienne didn't want Remy to be 'ticked off' at her in association. "I'm sure Emma didn't make the deal lightly. I just hope if she did make a mistake and Belladonna does prove she's bonkers by trying something, she goes for Emma and not one of us. All the more reason to give leaving the Club some serious thought," she added, and drank some more.

Amanda cocked an eyebrow at the brunette. "You're leaving?" she asked, sounding hopeful - the less friends involved with that group, the better, as far as she was concerned. Recent events had only cemented that.

"Giving it serious thought," the brunette reiterated. "I joined for the business connections, and I looked forward to the power games, but I didn't really expect the power games to be quite so... life threatening. Especially considering I'm not a Court member. Of course, if I did leave, I don't think I could just slink quietly away. I would have to give Shaw and his sycophants some fireworks." The thought brought a grin to one corner of her mouth.

A fierce grin appeared on the witch's face. "Let me know if you want help with that," she offered. "I wouldn't mind causing trouble for those bastards myself."
