After hitting some roadblocks in Brazil, Amara calls Angelo for some help, which he is more than happy to provide.

Amara hadn't exactly intended to spend most of her summer in Nova Roma, but that's how it had turned out. Her news in regards to the origins of Nova Roma, and the widespread memory onslaught had caused more than a little unrest in Nova Roma, and so she'd stayed to help her father work everything out. It had been a more than confusing time for the residents of Nova Roma, but things had started to settle down, finally. Decisions had been made, and now the process of getting people home had to start. Discussion with the local authorities had not gone well so far, the lack of legal standing the colony had proving to cause more than a few problems.

Not entirely sure where else to turn, Amara went in the closest town, placing a call to the Elpis office in New York.

Angelo had his "office voice" on when he answered, professionally polite. "Good morning, Elpis New York. How can I help you?"

"Hey Angelo," Amara replied, sounding a lot more tired than she usually did, but trying to be cheerful. "It's Amara. How are you?"

"Amara!" he said more genuinely cheerfully, with a note of concern at the tiredness, but clearly glad to hear from her. "I'm good. I was wonderin' how things were goin' over there."

"That's good," she replied sincerely. "That's why I'm calling, honestly. I was wanting to ask for your advice about things, perhaps even get some help. Things are turning out to be more of a mess than I could have imagined."

He snorted. "Yeah, Selene was good at that, wasn't she? You know I'll help any way I can - what do you need?"

"Goddesses are not accustomed to being held accountable for their actions." Even after so long, Amara couldn't escape the beliefs she'd grown up with, not entirely. "Nor do they care about the consequences." Amara sighed.

"I'm not sure how much Amanda might have told you, but a large percent of the population of Nova Roma are not from Brazil. And now that we are all starting to recall our lives before Nova Roma, many of them would like to return home to their families, to try and pick up their lives. Some of them have children that were born here, that they would like to take with them. But we are having trouble with the local authorities, it is difficult for them to believe our story, and they will not let anyone leave. We do not know what to do, but then I remembered being told that Elpis had worked in Brazil before, and I thought you might be able to help."

"We have", he agreed. "And we've got other contacts out there as well. We should be able to work somethin' out so people can go back to their home countries with their kids - but Elpis can only help with the mutants, at least on the books. Are there other mutants in Nova Roma?"

"Any help you could provide would be fantastic, honestly." Amara's voice had brightened considerably, she'd been carrying the strain of this for awhile now. "There are some - maybe half a dozen? And two of them are children, with no family. They have been cared for by the community since their parents died, but they would like to see more of the world."

"Those two, we can definitely do somethin' for", he said confidently. "An' the others we can probably get back where they came from, at least. Were the two kids born there, or brought in like you?"

"They were born here. They're 11 and 13, and they're mostly okay with their powers - he's superstrong, and she's superfast. As much as I would like to take them back to Xavier's so I could keep an eye on them, they don't really need the school, I don't think."

"Not if they don't need powers help", Angelo agreed. "You know, there's a place right there in Brazil, kind of an unofficial partner of Elpis. Alvorecer Novo, they call it... you remember Mariana Machado? She's the founder, an' I bet she'd take them in."

"Oh, that would perfect, really. They wouldn't have too much of a move, or a culture shock." Amara sighed in relief, starting to relax finally. "Thank you, Angelo."

"Any time. I'll look into what we can do for the others... an' maybe I'll even fly out myself." He grinned. "Be a good chance to see Nova Roma while it's still there."

"Oh yes! You should come. My father would love to have you as his guest." You could hear the smile in her voice now, a note of cheerfulness starting to come back. "I should go, I do not know how much longer I will be able to use this phone for. But I will call you back tomorrow, at the same time, and we can talk some more."

"Definitely", came the ready agreement. "I'll look into things like I said, an' hopefully by this time tomorrow I'll have some more news for you."

"Thank you so much, we honestly would appreciate anything you could do. Talk to you tomorrow." Amara disconnected the call, a genuine smile on her face for the first time in weeks.
