Nico and Remy run into each other again after the first's training session with Amanda, but this time there is no collision involved. A brief conversation about soil and family follows.

Remy looked up from the three bags of soil he was carrying to the slight Asian girl in front of him. "Didn't we learn 'bout nearly tripping de people dat live here last time you visit, petite." Nico. Amanda's apprentice and charge. Also the one with the apparently dark background that LeBeau had a few people asking questions about. Especially now that according to the rumour mill, she was dating one of the rich and slightly dubious scions of another family in the mansion.

"I was totally paying attention", was Nico's automatic answer, even if she had been daydreaming as she usually did after training with Amanda, but at least there had been no collision and subsequent embarrassment, so everything was good with the world. "I don't know if I would want to get any of that thing you are carrying on me anyway." Why did Remy need soil anyway? Nico made an effort not to think about some morbid explanation, but it wasn't precisely easy. The man just had an air of mystery, and Nico was more or less aware of the fact he and his team were still poking around, looking for her parents. Frontal confirmation would be nice, but Nico was also a bit at odds with hearing the official version; maybe she didn't really want to know. What would have made her blush was the fact her relationship with Julian wasn't precisely private anymore.

"So...soil?"

"Soil. Plants grow in it. Or so I'm told. De whole process is a bit of a mystery to me." He handled the bulky bags pretty easily, but they did take up his hands, and unlike most cartons, trying to balance them on something would simply tip them over. "In de right pocket of Remy's trenchcoat is my keys. Can you reach in and pull dem out? Or hold seventy-five pounds of soil for me for a minute? You choice."

"I...didn't think you were a plant person." Was she going to find out Remy had bonsai trees hidden somewhere? "I mean, not that I know how a plant person should look like." Unless you were Callie; Callie certainly looked like a plant person. Nico did her best to pick Remy's keys without trying to tell what else was there, and then held them up so he could see them. "What do I need to open now?"

"The door." He said dryly, motioning to the door in front of them. As it opened, she stepped into an apartment full of green growing things, all carefully tended and vibrant. "My girlfriend is a plant person. I, well, water dem when I have to." He said, slightly guiltily. The first time he'd sent Ororo into the field for a week, he'd been less than punctual with his watering effort, earning him a disappointed look on her return that he would rather lose a hand than been responsible for a second time.

Nico needed some seconds to quite 'Oooooh-ing' the place before she looked back at Remy. "This is actually pretty impressive", decided at last. It certainly didn't look like somewhere Nico could see the man living, but the added girlfriend data made it have more sense. "And that's...very considerate of you, I suppose." She almost said 'cute', she didn't know how would Remy react, but she didn't want to know either. That was when the gears of her head started turning. "...Wait, do I know this girlfriend? Am I...sounding like someone that is demanding to know something I shouldn't?" She was going to shy away and poke at a plant now.

"My girlfriend is Ororo Munroe. She was the headmistress at the school when you first joined." Remy carefully placed the soil on the counter and straightened back up. "She's been living here for months."

Nico nodded. "Plant person, sure." And that was all she was going to say about the subject. Adults and their relationships, she didn't want to know any more of that if she could. Time to touch another subject she felt she could at least try with Remy. Suffice to say, she wasn't expecting much in return. "Any news of my parents?"

Obviously Amanda had been talking to her. "Not yet. Dere's a few leads dat we're still looking into. Wanda and 'manda have de main magical network, but we're going to see if dey turn up in more traditional ways. Have dey tried to contact you?"

Nico was suddenly very interested in the plants again. "No, they hadn't sent postcards", answered in a carefully neutral tone. "Makes you wonder if they will send a birthday present at all." They had forgotten about Christmas, so her hopes weren't high. And by hopes, it meant that she supposed they wouldn't be stupid enough to send anything to the mansion. "They are good at hiding, I take it?" She didn't turn to face him, not yet.

"Dey're good at not being noticed. Dat's a little different den hiding." Contrary to Hollywood, it wasn't hurt to disappear off the grid if you wanted to. Especially if the people looking for you didn't have the resources of the NSA to try and track you down. Add in the natural paranoia of the magical community, and Nico's parents could be anywhere outside of their search"

"Yeah, that sounds like the Minoru. Average until the moment you realize they cook girls on the basement." Cue for a wry smile there. So they were out and at large, probably hurting people in whatever mad plans they had. For the millionth time Nico considered turning herself to them in order to stop causing hypothetical loses...but now she couldn't, which was different to say she didn't want to. There were too many powerful persons around her now that wouldn't allow her to even say that out loud, and they were the authority that knew better.

"Is there anything I can do? Play bait perhaps?" She had...authority issues.

"Non. Dat's more of a last ditch strategy. For now, we keep looking. One thing dat works to our advantage is for dem to do anything significant, dey have to move more openly. Dat's when we'll catch dem."

And the authority strikes again!, though as she turned towards Remy, seizing his words carefully. "Just...catch?"

"Dat's a whole other decision to be made-" Remy said, affixing her with his red on black stare. "-at de time."

Even now, it was a pretty damn freaky stare, that one. Nico gulped, and nodded slowly. "Don't misunderstand me", said, her voice filled with resentment. "I want them to pay, but it's my responsibility to make them do so." Even if she still saw her incapable of doing so.

"Non, it's not. If it was just you responsibility, den all dis would be 'bout is revenge." He said carefully. "What's important is dat whatever dey planning isn't allowed to happen, and dey face de consequences for what dey done in de past. If dat means letting SHIELD lock dem up in a closet for de next thirty years, dat's fine. Because it means dat dey can never do it again. If de only way to make sure of dat is putting dem in de ground, Remy got no problem wit' dat too."

Nico didn't know what was more shocking; that Remy was telling her not to think she had a say in what would happen to her parents, or that he would be the one to literally end them if the need appeared. While it sounded sensible, Nico doubted it would end like that. She wished it would, but she had already accepted things didn't really go as planned. At all. Sighing, she nodded on silence. "Alright, have it your way." There was no point on arguing over such things. "Just....catch them before they hurt someone else."

"Dat's what we do."
