xp_logs | Artie and Piotr, Sunday afternoon (Reply)

Artie knocked at Piotr's door, art assignment tucked under one arm. He was trying to work with film, integrating his powers with stop motion claymation and had the storyboards and concept sketches part way finished and ready to submit.

Piotr had been working on hand in dappled multicoloured remnants of multiple colours of playdoh that Kevin had left behind & when the tall Russian opened the door the dilapidated hand was still sitting on the kitchen table. “Good morning Artie how are you?” He asked seeing the boy.

He shrugged. Okay and pointed at a line of scrolling text he was projecting onto the wall next to himself. "ive finished the story boards for my art assignment. want to take a look?" he asked, putting his sketchbook down onto the table.

Piotr smiled as he read the text that flowed across his wall. Moving across to were the boy had put down his work Piotr looked across the first few scenes. “So what are you going to use clay for and what are you going to use you powers for?” Piotr asked looking up at the boy. Artie had come to him with his idea and Piotr had to admit it sounded really quite unique.

He could probably manage the whole thing with his powers, if it was filmed as a stop motion but his powers gave things a smoother look than the clay would. "ill do the backgrounds like a diorama with card and modeling clay over it, but touched up with my powers and then i'd do the characters. mostly."

Artie flicked over a couple of pages to show a series of sketches and photos of generic little clay figures, all of which he'd used his powers to give features and swords to in a second set of photos.

“That’s really good” Piotr said. “I like twists in the traditional claymation look, what scale are these?” he asked looking over the images again before flicking back to the storyboards keeping an eye on the wall that Artie was projecting onto.

He held his hands up, measuring a span of about fifteen centimetres between them. Small enough to be manageable.

Piotr flicked through the storyboards again. “This looks good, now the three big questions, first where are you going to set this up?, second when are you going to start filming? and third who are you going to get to do voices & sound?”

He answered the first question by flicking up a projection of the art room, his project set up on one of the benches at the back. He replaced it with a calender, Monday's date circled in red and then shrugged. "I got no idea who'd do that."

Piotr smiled "Thats fine, thats why you have teachers to think of things that you haven't yet." Piotr looked again. "Okay well I'd start off by talking to the rest of the class, and if you still don't have enough I'll send out a message across the boards calling for help"

"You do know that this could have waited to class on Monday, I could have looked it over while you set up the location" Piotr said "was there anything else you need to talk about?"

"Thought I'd go a journal post for volunteers tonite so i could get started sooner," Artie replied. "that way i know how many other ppl i need to get. And no, that's it. i guess."

"Yeah that works as well" said Piotr "I'll make sure there's an area in the art room set up for you and after that if you want to sneak in and work on it you can borrow the key, I'll work out a place for you to grab it from so you don't have to come up here and see me for it"

"That sounds good. Thanks," Artie said, gathering his things together again.

"Well I guess I'll see you tomorrow" Piotr said moving back to working on the hand he had been working on.
