Jean-Paul spots a familiar face while on his way back to his place in the city and decides to stop to say hello. Laura's 'friend' isn't really all that happy about the intrusion.

Late night, drinks and dance. Laura was good enough to keep and schedule with her work on X-Factor, have fun with Cammie -which meant something very close to 'Trying not to get killed on her sleep'- and going out now and then to have her fun. And her fun usually meant meeting pretty boys looking for a night in Heaven and taking them straight there by the hand, because she could be the best and nicest and bubbliest person ever, but she also was an animal needing to release some steam now and then. The random encounters were incredibly convenient for her, then.

And there she was, already leaving with a pretty boy's arm around her waist, his fingers pressed on her stomach as if he were scared someone would take the hot babe asking for a one night stand away from him. He was your typical faceless jock, pumped and ready to go, but Laura knew her away around his kind well enough to have him eating from her hand. And she loved it. Plus, he had a Mustang.

Jean-Paul was heading home, having spent the majority of the evening in the sky, when he caught sight of a vaguely familiar figure basically being manhandled on the ground below. He frowned. Laura could take care of herself, but she was still a bit young to be coming out of that particular club and the person she was with was very large.

Frowning, the Quebecois tipped his head to the side and decided to investigate. Landing downwind of them, he kept quiet for a few moments before deciding there'd be no harm in at least making his presence known. So, moving fast enough that no one else would see, he popped up in front of them. "Bonjour, mon ami." Jean-Paul quirked an eyebrow at Laura, both quizzical and slightly amused.

"Heeeeeeeeeey Jean-Paul!", was Laura's completely normal and cheery answer, as if she weren't clinging on a pretty piece of meat.

"Hey man", said the jock in question, his grip on Laura tightening a little, which made her giggle. Because honestly, for the guy to look at Jean-Paul and consider him a potential threat for his supposed newly acquired girl...although the man could be quite dangerous if she wanted. Not that Laura was incredibly worried, anyway.

Giving him an once over, Laura raised an eyebrow. "Didn't picture you as someone who would go clubbing around here." She sounded somewhere between surprised and actually pleased with this apparent surprise. The jock just stared in a way that left clear the older man should perhaps step away shortly.

Jean-Paul ignored the younger man entirely. "Oui, I do not go to the clubs here, but I saw you from above and thought I would stop to say hello." Since he'd done that already, he tipped his chin skyward just a bit and asked, "Would you like a ride home?"

It was as if Jean-Paul had asked her if she wanted a giant, flying, fire breathing pony. Not that she would have actually voiced that to the world, but really, to fly away!? Her eyes widened as she inched a bit away from the boy, his grip apparently moot when it came to actually keep Laura around; she could lift him with one hand and stamp him to the ground, after all.

The jock sensed the sudden change in his luck, so he decided to do something very, very stupid. "Okay, old man, time to go", said in a tone that was clearly menacing.

Laura didn't like that. "Hey, he's a friend; try to behave a little."

And then, of course, the jock did something even more stupid; he moved his hand from his waist all the way down her ass, and pulling her to him, gave Laura a somewhat vicious look. "Shut it, bitch."

Jean-Paul moved before Laura or the asshole she was with could do anything about it. One moment the man had his hand in an inappropriate place, the next it was twisted up behind his back and his face was getting intimately acquainted with the brick wall next to them. He paused for a moment to make sure the guy understood the situation he'd gotten himself into, then said, "You will not speak to her this way, do you understand?"

She would have to thank Jean-Paul later, because Laura was one step behind him, and if she had reacted faster, the guy's arm would have ended up broken in so many parts it would have looked like silly putty. Mumbling something that resembled an acknowledgment, he struggled against the wall for a moment before running away from the crazy fast old man, Laura already forgotten in his mind.

Sighing, the girl looked at Jean-Paul with a mix of curiosity and, yes, irritation. "Well, that went lovely, right?"

Jean-Paul let the man go with something resembling reluctance, but then turned to look at Laura with raised eyebrows. "I thought only to take you back to the mansion, if you wanted. I could go find him for you, if you would like. He seemed so nice." The sarcasm practically dripped from his words.

She wasn't going to get mad at him, no. Or so she was telling herself. Sighing, she waved a hand. "Nah, that guy is going to stop a block away and realize he wet his pants." And ew, she didn't want to have anything to do with a guy like that. "But if the flying offer is still up...", and here she was going to shrug and look like the last minutes didn't happen. At all.

"Oui," Jean-Paul said, gesturing for Laura to step in front of him. There were very few ways to do this elegantly and he wasn't particularly concerned with elegance, anyway. Turning around, he said, "Come, I will fly you home." Piggy-back style was definitely the new black. Or something like that.

Laura repressed a giggle and nodded with a crooked smile. She wouldn't have dreamed to go on Jean-Paul's back anywhere, but the chance was too good to let it pass. So she climbed. "Lucky you, I don't weight much." She knew the man was strong enough, but either way, he didn't need any extra weight on his shoulders. Or back. "So, just flying around?"

"Oui, for now," Jean-Paul said, lifting off the ground and then heading straight up. He didn't have a particular destination in mind, though he knew he'd be dropping her at the mansion eventually. Instead, he made sure she saw New York City at its finest, with the lights on the river a beautiful, flickering reflection and the constant noise muted by distance.

Finally, though, he flew them to the rooftop of his apartment building and let Laura slide from his back. "What did you think?" He asked.

Laura was a little too busy staring at the sky and the city and the everything to answer right away. "I think", said at last. "That I want to fly. Like, learn or something, because that's the coolest ride a guy has ever given to me, and it didn't even had to find a parking space." Then she finally looked down at Jean-Paul. "So...where are we?"

"District X," Jean-Paul said, propping his hip against the wall that ran around the top of the roof. "X-Factor, its building is over there." Turning, he pointed off to the west, then looked back toward Laura and pondered how he wanted to phrase this question. Finally, he gave up on tact and simply asked, "Do you sleep with many men such as the one I saw this evening?"

"Ooh", said Laura in a soft tone as she squinted; she could make the building, her eyes being better at looking at long distances than most. Laura didn't even blink when he asked about the men. "Just now and then", said easily, and without turning to face him. "Big city, little girl, lots of nights to waste, and against what you might heard, Cammie isn't that awesome of a roommate."

"Cammie... she is a valuable friend," Jean-Paul said, quirking a small smile. The silence lingered for a little while, not uncomfortable, before Jean-Paul finally said, "I believe you have Logan's healing abilities, do you not? And I know that they are very effective... but this does not mean you should not use protection, oui?"

"She is." She wasn't going to say anything else about the green haired girl, but her smile spoke for itself. With a small shrug, Laura patted the side of her jean pocket. "Not me, but then. And I make sure they do, every time. Because I heal, alright, but that doesn't mean I can't get preggers." Which would be a terribly bad idea. She finally turned to look at Jean-Paul. "Is there something wrong?"

"Non, nothing wrong," Jean-Paul said, eyes turning skyward again. "I thought only to make sure." Young people were often foolhardy - he knew he'd been. Not all young people, of course - Kevin was certainly a major exception, after all - but quite a few. "They are nicer than that, these other men you are sometimes with, are they not?" Because Jean-Paul really hadn't liked that last one.

Laura shrugged again. "This one was surprisingly mouthy", conceded as she turned around and sat on the edge of the building with her back to the city. "But they all want the same thing, and only one out of ten actually asks for my name." And they all were a bit too avid, but she didn't mind that at all. She casted a lazy glance at Jean-Paul. "You are trying to get to a point here, and I would like to know which one is it. Please?"

Jean-Paul snorted a laugh. "Impatient, are you?" He shook his head. "Non, ami. I had no point, really." He kept his eyes up when he finished, "Only that... condoms are good." There was another brief pause before he looked over at Laura. "To the mansion?"

Laura laughed, a bit too hard, and then walked over Jean-Paul, arms wide open to give him a bearhug. Him, trying to give her The Talk? "I didn't know you cared about me", said as she tried to not be too much of a hugger. "I'll try to pick better behaved jocks, and even try and look for those that might be interested in something more...lasting." Although she wouldn't promise a thing. "And yeah, to the mansion." Because he had ruined her night, although she didn't care.
