When Molly shows off her powers for Wade, something goes horribly wrong.

Wade tugged at the edge of Molly's hat as they walked toward a grouping of boulders. "Seriously, the glowing purple eyes - they're awesome, though I think you need to practice more with this strength thing. How long does it take for the tiredness to wear off, half-pint?"

Molly hopped along the boulders that stuck out of the ground. "It depends on how much I lift. When I lifted the truck I was asleep for a loooong time. And when Monet and I practice I sleep for an hour or so cause she's trying to get me to like...spread it out or get used to it or something?"

She glanced around at all the boulders. "So you want me to pick up one of these rocks?" she said.

Quirking a brow, Wade looked over the boulders and shrugged. "So long as you're not planning on lifting one the size of a truck, maybe. I don't need you passing out on me again. Once in my life was more than enough - I think you made me grow grey hair." He was grinning, though, rubbing at the back of his head. "Here, I'm pretty sure this is one I could lift if something happened and you needed help."

Intuitively, Wade understood that Molly'd tossed a truck at somebody. That didn't mean he wanted to actually see her do that until he was reasonably sure she wouldn't sleep for 24 hours or something afterward. He toed a medium-sized boulder over and then squatted to get a good handle on it, lifting with his knees the way weight lifters often did. "Yeah," he said, eyes on the spot where he intended to drop the boulder back to the ground. "This one should work for your throwing demonstration."

Molly shrugged. "It's cool! I get sleepy every time I use my powers, though," she offered helpfully.

Molly knew she was going to sleep anyway, so when she spotted a boulder near by that was half as big as a car, she thought it'd be a good thing to show him how strong she was. Cause she could just throw the rock when she got tired. And because she was focused on that she wasn't paying attention to the last part of what he was saying except for 'Yeah' as the answer to her question.

"This one's better though!" she said as she picked up the massive boulder. The sight of it, a giant boulder bigger than the tiny girl holding it was almost comical.

She took a step forward to try to get a better grip, but a small bit of rocks peeking out under the snow made her lose traction.Molly eyes widened and she let out a shriek of surprise as she slipped, falling backwards. The boulder, instead of tumbling back, instead fell forward.

She hit the ground, and the boulder came crushing down on top of her with a sickening thud. The size of the boulder completely enveloped any sign on her.

Wade had turned around as soon as she said 'this one's better,' the boulder he was holding already falling to the ground. It felt like everything slowed down as he moved, then everything started coming in something like snapshots. She was holding the boulder. He was going to say something. She slipped. He tried to move faster. The boulder fell on her. Even with all those damn enhancements, he wasn't fast enough. "Molly!"

The boulder she'd picked was too big for him to move, let alone lift.

Kyle heard the last of the 'ly-ly-ly' echoing out of the quarry, and was running before he had put a face to the voice. Panic and alarm had registered before 'that's Wade' and Kyle's instincts had always moved faster than his brain anyway.

He slowed at the edge of the quarry, finger and toe claws kicking up some dirt and pebbles, and went upright in mid-stride, taking the last ten feet running like a man, not like a extra-large greyhound because he needed his hands. His phone was out, and the emergency page button hit before he even made it to Wade, the boulder, and the freshly uncovered ground where the boulder had been. "What the fuck happened?" He didn't smell blood. Or brains. He did smell Molly, and Wade's panicked fear but he could only hear one heart and one set of lungs besides his own.

"I can't lift it," Wade said, fighting to keep a cool head because he was a fucking mercenary, for God's sake, he didn't lose his cool during difficult situations, damnit. But all he could think about was Molly's ridiculously adorable hat and how she'd been grinning when she lifted the boulder and that look of panic on her face when she'd slipped. Her scream was still echoing around in his head. "She just lifted the damn thing and I couldn't get to her and I can't lift it. Help me."

Julian had been a short distance away when he heard the commotion, simply out on a walk enjoying the spring air. Upon arriving at the scene, and despite the lingering effects of a black eye, he could tell something wasn't right, Kyle was dashing toward the rock and looked, as he often did when Julian was around, furious. He followed the lines of force to the large rock they seemed to be trying to move, though the power required to do so was within neither of their capabilities. With a shrug, he stretched out his hand and found his connection points, lifting the giant hunk of basalt into the air a few feet before tossing it to the other edge of the quarry.

Kyle hit the ground and had barely enough time to fall correctly, arms outstretched to take some of the impact off his back and neck. A moment of disorientation hit him, and he up into a crouch, muscles tense for a fight - the fear that somehow Lense had come back from the dead passed after a moment and he got to his feet. The boulder was gone, Molly was lying on the ground, and off towards the edge was Keller, looking particularly Keller-ish - smug and bored.

Kyle wasn't inclined to argue. "Keller, call the docs -now-!" The emergency page had already gone out, hopefully they were on their way.

Wade stumbled backward, away from the bounder that was suddenly... moving. And then he saw Molly, which made him forget about the strangeness of the bounder moving. He was far too caught up in the fact that... she wasn't squished. "Fucking hell," he muttered, kneeling down. Moving people with possible back injuries was a bad idea, he knew that, so he checked her over visually for any scrapes or cuts or squished parts. He couldn't find any.

Julian cocked his head to the side, unsure of what was going on, but recognizing the urgency in Kyle's voice. He pulled out his cellular phone and dialed the number for Doctor Voght, asking her to hurry outside.

The ground was indented where the boulder had made impact with the ground from the force. In fact the ground around Molly was slightly raised, in a girl shaped indentation. No blood, bruising, no wounds. Had it been sheer luck?

Molly twitched, her head shifting slightly as she let out a groan, not of pain but of someone momentarily disturbed in sleep.

Reaching over, Wade checked Molly's pulse and paused for a moment before sitting back on his heels. Normally the move would have been controlled, at least, but in that moment, it was more like a half-collapse that left him somehow still upright. "Thank fuck," he muttered. He knew that groan. "She's sleeping." She'd made the same one when he picked her up to take her to the medlab this time.

"The fuck happened?" Kyle asked, trying to watch Molly and Wade and keep an eye our for one of the doctors all at the same time. Still no smell of blood, and now he could hear Molly breathing, and the whisper-soft thud of her heart. He turned his head. "Keller? D'jyou call the docs yet?" he yelled.

Julian had come closer and could now see the indentation in the ground where the boulder had been. "The hell? Um," he became flustered and pressed the emergency button on his phone, "Yeah, they're on their way."

Wade looked over at Kyle and shook his head. "She wanted to throw a boulder to show me she could. I picked one but she'd lifted that one already. She slipped. She fell. It fell on top of her." His tone was remarkably calm now that he'd seen Molly hadn't been crushed to death under a boulder. "She sleeps after using her powers. I don't think anything's wrong with her, but I don't suggest moving her until one of the docs shows up."
