Bishop & Jean-Paul | Saturday Afternoon

Jean-Paul gets a text from Bishop after handing over surveillance duty to Vanessa and heads to the XFI offices.


Jean-Paul was coming off surveillance at the brothel in District X when he got a text from Bishop saying he needed some help with some of their on-the-books cases, so instead of heading back to his apartment, he flew to the office. It took almost no time, which was good. He'd been watching the brothel for four hours and heard nothing particularly interesting by the time Vanessa turned up to relieve him.

Letting himself in through the window using the key he'd been given, the Quebecois quirked a brow at Bishop. "Oui, mon ami?"

Bishop's desk was littered with files, all of X-Factor's cases having been pushed onto him exclusively for the time being. "I'll never get out from under this. I just need someone to go back and forth between a few locations to try to catch a picture of infidelity. Right now, you're the only person that could pull that off." He watched and spoke as the man climbed in the window.

"Oui, this I can do," Jean-Paul said, walking over to the desk so he could pick up a few of the files that were, apparently, burying Bishop. "Money shots for these, as they say?" He'd need Vanessa's camera, but he could get into her apartment to get that, so long as he texted her to let her know he was borrowing it. "Is there anything else that I can help with?"

"I've been taking these cases exclusively. I can always keep postponing them, saying I didn't catch the spouse in the act." Bishop explained in answer. "If anything important comes up, I'll get back with you."

Jean-Paul quirked a brow, then shrugged. "So I am here only for the pictures?"

Bishop nodded, "Sorry it's menial but most of this is and it's all we can afford to do for the time being."

"I am not complaining," Jean-Paul said, feeling the need to clarify. "Only making sure my assumption is correct, oui? Also, if there is something else that you would like to do, a larger case, it might be better for the cover story to show something larger. I am available for most of the day, when I am not working the other." He thought it was probably a good idea to keep their caseload looking about the same as it usually did, rather than concentrating on an influx of smaller cases. That way their records wouldn't give away their strategy. "But I will take these and be back later."

"I've been doing local mutant relations conferences to fill out our appearances. This way we can leave our resources open for the case but explain why the offices are only doing surveillance. I'm the only legally qualified Detective here, if I'm busy with conferences then public perception would be that our office wouldn't be capable of much else. I don't like to reinforce the idea any of you might not be completely competent but I think we might have to for the moment." Bishop smile, a little apologetically.

Shrugging philosophically, Jean-Paul quirked a rueful sort of smile. "It is how things must be done. And it is not so bad to have people underestimate the abilities of your colleagues, I think." The Quebecois headed for the window again, stepping up on the ledge. "I will be back with the pictures." He pulled his mobile out so he could let Vanessa know he was stealing her camera, then dropped out of the window and down one floor.
