With the assistance of a few manly male types, Amara and Callie begin their lives as two hip, young city ladies.

"Careful!" Amara called out to the pair carrying the couch she and Callie had acquired up the stairs. Someone had dropped a piece of clothing on the stairs, and if they weren't careful they'd trip on it. She couldn't dash in and grab it from where she was below them, especially since she had a box of books in her hands.

Kevin all but froze when the warning rang out. He just really, really hoped John did the same so he didn't wind up trying to hold the whole couch all on his own. That really wouldn't end very well. "Why're we bein' careful? Child? Cat? Banana peel?"

"They're girls. They get paranoid at everything," John muttered. "Move it or I'm going to let go and your dainty toes aren't going to like it." John sucked on the end of his cigarette, dropping bits of ash on the couch. But hey, plastic covering. "Doesn't JP have flight and some kind of extra body strength somewhere? Where is he?"

Jean-Paul snorted and flew out into the center of the stairwell, then skipped ahead of everyone else and landed in front of Kevin. "T-shirt," he said to answer Kevin's initial question. He shifted the box he was carrying and bent down to picked up said t-shirt, then said, "The coast, as they say, is clear." He didn't even bother trying to correct John on the strength question, he just continued on up the stairs to the apartment the girls were moving into, since having someone who could pick things up walking before the people carrying the couch seemed like a good idea.

"Come on guys, we're almost done." Of course their apartment had to be located at the top of a three floor walk-up. And of course they had to be moving on one of the hottest days thus far, turning to already stuffy stairwell into a heat trap. Callie groaned; she was all disgusting and sweaty and dirty. But there were only a few more steps standing between her and their new home.

Angelo had apparently designated himself the supervisor or possibly the walking safety net, as he was coming up the stairs behind John and Kevin with a cigarette in his hand. "What all's left after this?"

"I think there is just a couple of boxes. This is the last of the furniture." Amara raised her voice loud enough so everyone could hear her. "And then I think I vote we order pizza. Is anyone else starving?" There had been plenty of cupcakes on hand during the moving process, but they weren't really particularly filling.

"Anyone not starvin' forfeits their pizza," Kevin declared as he and John continued up the stairs. "Problem solved." How was it that he and John had gotten saddled with most of the furniture lugging? Sure, they were devilishly handsome, but didn't the girls have any friends with super strength for this stuff?

"There'll be enough pizza even for energy projectors' appetites", Angelo assured him. "An' you all probably come close after today."

"Oui? And for those of us with very high metabolisms, also?" Jean-Paul nudged the door to the apartment open with his foot, then stepped inside and made sure the door itself swung wide enough that the guys with the couch could maneuverer it in somehow.

Callie followed close behind, and dropped the box she had been carrying in the kitchen. "Jean-Paul," she began as she stretched. "I promise you there will be a pizza specifically with your name on it."

"Hey guys," she shouted down into the stairwell. "After you put the sofa down and let me know what toppings you want, feel free to take a break. Amara and I will get the last few boxes while we wait for the pizza. Sound good?"

"Great." Once they got the sofa inside, John signaled for Angelo to help Kevin out with deciding on where to put the damn thing before he took the box of books from Amara and placed it next to the other ones in the kitchen. He then told Callie that he will head downstairs with Amara for the rest of the stuff, and that she should rest or whatever and he left.

"I'm fine with whatever toppings other people want. Just order a lot." Amara gave Callie something of a sheepish grin before she left to follow John to retrieve the last of the boxes, hurrying to catch up with him. It was more exciting than she'd thought, actually moving into a place that wasn't accomadation provided by someone else. She and Callie had found this place, and they were responsible for it. This was going to be an adventure.
