Warren and Bishop discuss the status of the investigation into Vanessa's disappearance and Warren helping out more around the office.

"Thanks for coming to see us. We'll be in touch as soon as we have something for you." The genial smile on Warren's face seemed genuine as he shook hands with the wealthy seeming couple, him holding the door for them as they departed, happier than when they arrived. They were 'concerned' about their teenage son who had recently manifested as a mutant, supposedly worried about him getting involved with a pro-Brotherhood group. From their description Warren thought it sounded more like a mutant support group, the parents being rather unsupportive of their son.

But he might just be projecting.

He turned back into the room to find Bishop had joined him.

"Any news?" He asked, trying not to sound too anxious. He knew Bishop would tell him if he had something, but he couldn't help asking.

Bishop was tossing flashcards into a hat he had placed upside down on a chair across from his desk. The pictures, complete with names on the back, were to help him memorize Vanessa's known mimics, their associates, and all his potential suspects and people of interest. He shook his head at the question. "We don't have anything yet. We didn't even know to start looking within the first fourty-eight and now everything's cold."

"We've got..." Warren trailed off, looking at the cards he was tossing into the hat. "Charles couldn't find her on Cerebro. So whoever took her has reason - and the means - to hide her from a telepathic search." Not that that meant much, but Warren refused to believe that Charles couldn't find her because she was dead.

"How exciting for us." Bishop's tone oozed sarcasm. He clearly wasn't pleased with that particular fact.

"It's something," Warren replied, trying not to sound snappish. Or pleading. It was Bishop's investigation, he'd said he'd stay out of the way.

"I hope you don't mind me taking their case," Warren continued, changing the subject. "I figured it was something pretty simple I could handle. Or Riley or Laura."

Bishop looked up for a moment, his expression quite serious. "Warren, you're a mutant lawyer. The only better person we could have on staff would be Jesus if he came back and turned out to be a mutant. I won't mind much you do so don't worry." He even offered a reassuring smile before looking back to his flash cards.

"Don't say that, I'll go and completely rearrange everything while your back's turned," Warren said with a bit of a grin.

"Laurie might have you dealt with if you do that." Bishop warned. "She's in charge of those tasks."

"I think I can handle Laurie," Warren said confidently. "Did you need coffee or anything? I'm thinking I might go for a fly, strech my wings and get some fresh air. I think another potential client will be dropping by in an hour or so, but I should be back by then."

"You think you can. I'm convinced she could force us to tear this office and each other apart if she wanted." Bishop stood to retrieve the now full hat of flash cards. "There's a bistro on the map that makes the best Cubans. Grab us a couple?"

"Using her powers is cheating. I've seen worse secretaries in my time." Warren's father tended to ensure he had older women as his personal assistants and secretaries - experienced women who knew what they were doing and terrified everyone wherever they went.

"Done and done. I'll be back in a few."
