Angel tracks down Sam and the two catch up on what he's been up and what he's missed since he left.

Having returned from her mission, Angel immediately set out on another one. Unofficial, of course, and with hopefully less bad guys involved. She'd only just seen that Sam was back in the mansion and, even though she was no longer a student of Xavier's, the fact that her favorite teacher was back had cheered her up immensely. Now, she just had to find him. She stopped by his rooms, the kitchen, the study and was now standing on one of the porches, almost about to admit defeat.

"What the hell he'd do, develop invisibility?" she sighed, stamping a foot in annoyance.

Sam had been outside, enjoying the last bits of sunlight before the sun went down. The days were starting to get shorter again and he wanted to drink it in as much as possible while he still could. He was ambling about rather aimlessly until he saw a familiar face on the porch, which made him grin and plot a definite course straight ahead.

"Hey there, Miss Angel. Long time, no see."

The scream that came out of Angel was piercing as she hopped up and down in one spot for a few seconds. "Mr. G!" And with that, she threw herself down the stairs and onto Sam with a bone crushing hug. "It's so awesome that you're back!"

He blinked a little at the sound she made, surprised to see someone so glad to see him back. Before he could say or do anything, though, Angel had pounced him and was hugging him tightly, so he hugged her back. "Heya, good to see you too, kiddo. Well." Pulling back from the hug, Sam smiled at her, chuckling. "Not so much kiddo any more, I guess. Maybe I should call you Miss Jones from now on instead, huh?"

Putting her hands on her hips, she pretended to think about it. "Only if I get some business cards out of it. You know, real official looking ones with a logo!" She smacked him on the arm. "You've been gone forever! I can't believe you finally came back!"

Sam chuckled again at that, shaking his head a little. "What kinda logo? Maybe a little fire or something, I guess." He feigned shock and pain at the playful smack on the arm, rubbing the spot where she'd hit him. "Ow, dang it, sorry. And yeah, it's been awhile, hasn't it? But I'm back now, and don't plan on leavin' again anytime soon, so that's gotta count for something, yeah?" He smiled, putting his hands in his pockets. "So, how've you been?"

"Dude, you just try and leave, see if I'll let you get very far! I've gotten so much faster with my flying since the last time you saw me!" Rocking back on her heels, Angel balanced herself carefully on the edges of her shoes. "And I've been pretty good. Doing the college thing and the firefighter thing when I can. And of course, kicking ass at being an X-Man." She dropped back off her heels and pretended she knew how to do Kung Fu. She'd learned from watching a movie. "In other words, being totally badass."

"Oh really? You'll have to show me sometime, then." He was somewhat inclined to say right now but truth be told he was probably a little rusty himself. "That's good, glad to hear it. All that and an X-Man too, that's definitely badass." Sam nodded, then grinned at her movie-influenced martial arts. "Learnin' some kung fu on the side too, huh?"

She giggled. "I bet we can find a spot on the DR list to slot you into," Angel said, dropping her hands. "And not formerly, like. I watch a lot of movies - though, trust me, Garrison and Paige and the others run me ragged with learning how to not get taken down like a sissy in a fight." Her smile faded slightly. "How's Jay doing? And how was Muir? Was it cold? I bet it was cold, even in the summer. It just looks cold."

"Alright then, sounds like a plan." He could definitely use the training, and it'd be great to see how far along one of his former pupils had come since he'd left. "That's good, and I'm sure you're doin' alright with that too." This time it was Sam's turn to playfully and lightly tap Angel on the shoulder. His own smile dimmed a little at the question, and he puts his hands back in his pockets. "He's doing alright, well enough for me to come back anyway." Sam nodded, not quite sure how else to put it. "Oh yeah, cold doesn't even come close to describing it. I'm glad I get to enjoy at least the last bit of summer back here, though."

Angel looked sad for a moment - she missed her friend. Jay had gone through a lot, though, and she knew he needed the time away. Still, she would remember to write him an actual, honest to god letter later that day. Maybe fill the envelope with glitter or something. Just to remind him that she cared.

"And this is why I enjoy my powers so, so, so much! I mean, you could stick me in Alaska and I'd be good to go as long as they were still working properly. I've got internal heating and cooling without even trying. Best part of the powers - except for the flying."

Sam nodded. "That's definitely a nice perk, can't argue with you there. Nothin' beats good air conditioning." He grinned and chuckled a little at his own joke. "Except flying, of course, yeah." Sam was pretty biased when it came to that, of course. "Well, shoot. I'm proud of you, Angel, sounds like you're doin' just fine for yourself, and I'm glad to think maybe I had somewhat of a hand in helping you along the way."

There was a hint of red in her cheeks as she rubbed the back of her neck. "Somewhat?" she teased. "You did pretty much save me from when I fell off the roof the night I figured out I could fly. And you taught me how not to fly into trees - that's saved my butt on quite a number of occasions!"

Chuckling at the memories, Sam scratched his chin and raised his eyebrows. "Well, yeah, I guess that might've helped you out a little bit. But the hard work and dedication, that was all you, Angel." He nodded, it was true. "But it does me good to know I helped, so thanks."

She was perilously close to blushing hot enough to burst into flames, she thought, resisting patting at her cheeks as if that would help the problem. "So, you back for good this time?" Angel asked curiously, grasping onto something new to talk about for fear of melting the grass. "Not forever ever, I guess, because that'd be pretty hard even for us."

"I am, or at least I plan to be." Sam nodded, crossing his arms. "As long as y'all will have me, at any rate. I figure I can still be of some use around here, once I get used to things again." Teaching hopefully wouldn't be too hard, but readjusting to the life of an X-Man might take some time, and he knew he'd have to do some more training to brush up on his skills first. "You're not tryin' to chase me off, I hope?" he joked with her.

"Oh, puh-lease, as if! We only just got you back, people would totally kill me if I managed to chase you off again. I'm afraid you're, you know, stuck here until further notice."

Sam let out a mock sigh of frustration. "Alright, I guess I've got to stay then, if you say so." Not being a very good actor, he could only hold up the charade for a short time and grinned after a few seconds. "There are worst fates, I reckon." He nodded towards the door. "I was about to go grab a drink after my walk, you thirsty?"

"Oh, drinks! Yes! Also, you can generally find food near by, so I'm totally in! Oh oh oh! And then, and then could we go flying?!"

Sam laughed at that and nodded. "That sounds like an absolutely splendid idea, if I do say so myself." He patted Angel on the shoulder and headed inside, glad to have plans for the afternoon now.
