Backdated to February 17th. The log that resulted in Jean-Phillipe's promotion, finally completed!

Ambulance lights flashed and medical responders shouted at one another as they tried to stabilize the injured and get them to a hospital. Scott meandered his way through the prone victims trying to ignore the smell of singed hair and moans of pain which assaulted his senses. He spotted Haller standing guard over 2 gurneys near an ambulance, he had heard that Jean-Phillipe and Layla had been hurt during the fight and had decided to make his way over to check on them before they got moved to the hospital. Scott nodded at Haller as he knelt down next to Jean-Phillipe, "What happened?" he asked the younger man quietly with an tinge of guilt running through his voice.

"Feedback," the Frenchman reported. "Something in the other electrokinetic's power reached out and drained my own. Like he was using me as a battery, or an amplifier." He felt weak as a newborn kitten, and an IV of fluids was already being pumped into him. "Unintentional. I was trying to talk him down. And I think it was working until the power escaped his control and connected to me."

"I'm sorry" Scott said apologetically, "I should never have sent you in there without some kind of back-up." He ran an eye over the I.V. bag before quirking an eyebrow at Jean-Phillipe. "You really tried to talk him down?"

"Eh," Jean-Phillipe demurred. "I have an immunity to electricity, I was the logical choice. There was no way to know he would also be able to drain a similar power." He looked off towards one of the buildings, his eyes unfocused. "I know what it is like, to have a power come on you so suddenly. And to have it cause problems. It was not what I expected to do, going there. But I could see that it was not his intent to hurt anyone. He had retreated to the alley, after all, and he was very frightened."

Scott nodded, "I can definitely identify with that, it's never easy when you manifest a destructive power" he agreed. "Still I'm impressed that you managed to recognize that he didn't want to hurt anyone and was scared. Even more so that you actually took the time to try an find a diplomatic solution." He glanced at the ground guiltily, "I didn't even try to talk down the FoH member who turned into the toxic mist."

"Well, how exactly does one communicate with a sentient cloud?" Jean-Phillipe asked, trying to break the mood with some levity. "Still, I was lucky."

"You were," Scott replied, "but we make your own luck by supporting one another on and watching each others back."

Jean-Phillipe nodded. "I understand I have Meggan and Korvus to thank for watching out for me," he said in reply. The young couple had clearly thought well on their feet to come to his aid. He supposed he should consider doing something nice for them as thanks.

"You do." Scott agreed. "there was some quick thinking involved on their part." He smiled, "but all the kids handled themselves well today.. I was serious earlier Jean-Phillipe, talking down the scared mutant was good thinking on your part." As he finished Scott pushed himself up to his feet.

"Ah, merci," Jean-Phillipe muttered, turning his head away. It was not hard to guess that he was a bit embarrassed at Scott Summers' praise, and perhaps also embarrassed at how much it meant to him to have it.

"How long have you been on trainee status with the team?" Scott asked curiously as he looked down at the younger man.

"Ah...hm." The time had rather blended together for Jean-Phillipe, if the truth were to be told. It had become routine and comfortable. "A few years?" He frowned, trying to think harder. It was difficult, as everything felt...fuzzed. "Since the attack on graduation?"

Scott smiled at the younger man, "So it's been a while then." he clarified. "Have you thought about going for a promotion to full team? Judging by today I'd say you're ready. That is if you promise that there will be no more hospital trips. I really don't want your cousin getting annoyed and hunting me down."

"Me? An X-Man?" Jean-Phillipe blinked. He supposed that had been the purpose of all the training, but to still have the question directly put to him... "I...yes? I cannot make any promises for what others might do," he waved at the gurney to indicate that the events of the day had certainly not been his idea, "but I have personally had quiet enough of Dr. Voght's attentions, oui."

"Great," Scott nodded at Jean-Phillipe. "I'll talk to the professor when we get back to the mansion. I don't think he'll have any problems with promoting you up though." He glanced around the gurneys "People are rarely accommodating" he admitted, I'd love, just once, to get out of something like this with no-one injured."
