Angel takes trainee Sooraya on a tour of restricted areas of the sub-basement.

Sooraya waited curiously at the entrance to the lower levels of the mansion. Yes, she did the Danger Room, but she had only seen a few very small glimpses of the other parts. She was glad though that Angel had volunteered to give her the tour. With her she could just ask questions and not worry about looking dumb. The smile broadened on her face when the redheaded girl came bouncing towards here. "Ready and waiting." She said with a wink.

Angel clapped her hands together, grinning broadly as she came to a stop in front of Sooraya and donned an imaginary cap. "Great. Gather 'round ladies and mutants, Angel's Tour Service is officially open for business. Today we'll be seeing the lower levels of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. This area is off limits to all those who who are not members of the X-Men team." She dropped the bravado, still grinning. "Man, I think I'm missing my calling as a tour guide. Let's get going. Where would you like to start?"

"Well, I have been using the Danger Room on my own now for a little while, but..." Sooraya gave it some serious thought. "The Blackbird hanger? I have seen the plane lift of a few times, but I have never seen it up close..."

Angel gave a pretend shudder at the mention of the Blackbird hangar. "I'm going to be having nightmares about that place for a month after the torture I went through down there," she said as she started towards the hangar. "But on the other hand, the plane has never been cleaner." Angel fell silent for a moment as she considered the question that had been...not bothering her, exactly. Just...niggling in the back of her mind. "Hey...if you don't mind me asking, what brought this on? I mean, wanting to join the X-Men and all."

Sooraya thought for a few moments as she walked, searching for a good point to start. "Mostly what happened in Attilan back in February, to be honest. But I had been getting of seeing people around me hurt for a very long time. And then it happened again and I worked with Angelo and Yvette to free Leyu and subdue Achmed... It just felt right... Working in a team with them. So I started looking into it and here I am..."

They came to the door that would lead them into the hangar, and Angel opened it, turning Sooraya's words over in her head. "Fair enough," she said finally. "I mean, I'm not judging your reasons or anything, I was just curious, and for the record, I think you're going to be great. And now, the Blackbird - prepare to feel insignificant. This thing is huge."

The young Afghani looked up and her eyes widened as she saw the plane up close for the first time. "Whoa... It is huge..." Her voice trailed of as she started to walk around it, craning her head to take it all in. "And I am gonna need to learn to land that thing..." She muttered softly as she shook her head. "I just can't see myself doing it..."

Angel rested a hand on Sooraya's shoulder, giving her friend a reassuring smile. "You'll be great." She understood the part about it being nerve-wracking, though - the plane was huge, after all. So she added, "Besides, do you know how many things have to go wrong that would require you to land this in an emergency situation? Everybody from the mission leader to...I don't know, his third cousin or something would have to be unconscious or dead or missing in action." Not that it hadn't happened before. But that wouldn't be reassuring.

She threw Angel a little smile. "Even though I have only been a trainee for a week and have only started doing the beginnings of all the readings, I remember well enough in what shape people came home sometimes after missions. So yeah, I can see it happening, me having to land the plane. With the luck we sometimes have..."

".....Okay, true." There was no point in lying, after all. Sooraya was well aware what she was getting herself into. "It's not so bad though...I mean, scary, yes. But when it gets right down to it, there are only a few things you need to know to land this thing - one of them being how not to land on top of something and crush it."

Sooraya took a deep breath and again walked around the plane, taking it all in. "No use worrying about it now... I'll cross that bridge when I come to it..." She looked at Angel. "What's next?"

"Hmn...." Angel skimmed her eyes over the Blackbird, thinking hard. "Well you already know about the Danger Room, and everyone's well enough acquainted with the med lab, unless you have some burning desire to see it...how about the Situation Room?"

"That is so true about the med lab." Sooraya shook her head, thinking back at the many times her friends and guardians had ended up there. "Situation Room? That is kinda like the nerve center of the X-men, right?"

"Pretty much," Angel said as they started out of the hangar. "Be prepared to spend a lot of time in there once you start going on missions, that's where all the pre-mission stuff happens - where you're going, suspected enemy or target, who's going to be leading the mission, and so on. And there's this really cool table that makes 3D replicas of places to give you a view of the terrain and help plan out movements and stuff. It's made of some high-tech....sand....or something."

They were walking into the Situation Room by now, and gave a quick greeting to the on-duty X-Man at the comm unit. "Something like a 3D map?" Sooraya asked, examining the table curiously...

"Yeah, exactly," Angel agreed as she examined the controls for the table. "Thanks, I couldn't think of the word." Would it be worth her life to try turning this thing on for Sooraya to see? "There's also computers for videoconferencing - like, say, if someone wanted to get a hold of the West Coast Annex. Pretty much everything happens here." Probably not, she finally decided, regretfully turning away from the panel. She would probably tick someone off if she started just playing with the table.

It was easy to see what Angel was trying to do. "Don't worry about it, Angel. I am sure I will have plenty of chances to see it in action..." Sooraya quickly attempted to stop her friends musing's...

"Seeing as how the chances of the world suddenly lapsing into a time of unexplained peace are slim to none - yeah, you probably will," Angel agreed with a laugh.
