Sue gets taken into a lab where she comes face to face with her kidnapper and his plan for her are revealed.
Moving, someone is moving me. The thought percolated through the cotton wool that had replaced Sue's brains. She shook her head to try to clear away the cobwebs and forced her eyes open. And blinked in disbelief. there was a mud...man for want of a better word carrying her over it's shoulder. The blonde wasn't sure whether to laugh or scream, this had to be a dream, this whole thing. People didn't just randomly grab you off the side of the road and whisk you away. And there was no way that mud men really existed. Johnny must have sneaked a bad piece of cheese into her food, that was it she had to be hallucinating. Johnny...there was something about him...Sue remembered picking him up after school and then he was falling as a van pulled up. "Johhny?" the girl called as she swept her gaze groggily across the cave until she spotted her brother lying very still in a cage. "JOHNNY!" she screamed as she finally started to struggle. Spirited as they were the girl's struggles proved useless against the overwhelming strength of the golem and the ignored her screams and carried her out of the room.
"Oh, -do- be quiet, young lady," Arthur Molekevic instructed Sue as his golem brought her into his lab. Pah, as if this hollowed out cavern with what supplies he had managed to scavenge and steal since the day Franklin Storm had him evicted - forcibly evicted - from the Baxter Building could be called a lab. But it would suit his purposes. And then they would see. They would ALL see. See his genius the gift it was. Just because those fools were too sniveling to do what was necessary...
Sue stared at the man in the lab-coat, her hand raised frozen in the middle of an attempt to strike the golem and free herself. She knew that man, me used to work for her father, desperately the girl wracked through her memory, still hampered by the grogginess from the drugs. "Dr...Molekevic?" she asked hesitantly as she matched the face to a name. "You're Dr Molekevic, you used to work for my dad. Did they kidnap you too?" she asked in concern dropping her hand down hard on the Golem's head. She stopped talking as the she realized she'd read the situation wrong, The Dr didn't look like he was here under duress the blonde realized as she finally placed the name. The color drained from her face as she remembered his experiments and hiding in a lab. "You're...they didn't kidnap you did they?" she asked.
"Don't be obtuse, young lady. It ill becomes you." Molekevic shook his head. He supposed it was the residual effects of the chloroform. Ghastly drug, but necessary. "I would expect more perspicacity from Franklin's daughter, but then, he failed to see the benefit in my work like all the others."
It was ridiculous, this man had kidnapped her and locked her in a cage but that insult was what annoyed her most of all; nobody insulted her intelligence. Glaring at Dr Molekevic Sue took a steadying breath and looked around hte lab. Trays of culture dishes lay in incubators while microscopes, computers and chemicals were strewn across the tables, this was clearly the work space of a scientist caught up in his research. Catching sight of the screen of one of the computer screens she turned her head to face Molekevic, "Genetics?" she queried, he had a light microscope and some kind of sample heater. "You're doing stem cell research down here?" the blonde asked, her curiosity momentarily overwhelming her anger and frustration.
"Yes." Arthur preened for a moment at Sue's recognition of what he was doing, then his face clouded. "I am 'down here', as you say, because your father had me removed from my position," he told her angrily. He snapped his fingers at the waiting golem, who bore the teenager over to a chair and strapped her into it.
Uptil now the lab had held an intellectual curiosity to Sue; finding such a well equipped lab in what could only be described as a cavern had been like discovering a new treasure trove. But suddenly she was dragged back to reality, this wasn't just any Doctor down here, this was the man she had discovered torturing mutants in his lab. "What...what are you doing?" she asked, her voice starting to tremble in fright as she struggled against the restraints. "I saw your experiments! You were torturing people!..." Her voice trailed off as she realized her position. "What are you going to do?" she asked in a small voice.
Arthur Molekevic's answering smile was full of teeth as he picked up an empty syringe from the lab bench. "What is necessary, young lady," he told her as he moved behind her and out of her field of view.
