Nightcrawler and Wildchild deal with Purifiers so that Meltdown and Hubba (Vance) can deal with bombs.
Kyle's communicator was going off like mad, reports in from not just their own venue, where a small explosion had gone off and then caused panic in the crowd, but at the other, where from what he could tell, shit was on fire. He caught a familiar voice Tabitha's - slightly roughened from smoke - calling for some backup. He made for the exits at a dead run, flashing his 'security' wristband at the police trying to calm the crowd.
Kurt joined him from a different direction, not willing to teleport among so many scattering people. "After this, we are never going anywhere ever again", he muttered to himself.
"Word." Kyle said, slowing his pace slightly. "Least this time we knew it was a possibility."
Outside, it was less crowded - but the smell of smoke was stronger, and it was clear something was very wrong long before they got to the bridge. There were already police blocking the road out, and on the other side, flashing lights, and police and fire sirens.
"Shit. Meltdown says there's reports of a car bomb, and there's a guy saying either the police let him go or he blows the other half of the bridge, and fucker's got one of the band people as a hostage." He glanced over towards the bridge, where rising smoke could be seen. "She says she and Pinky can handle the bomb if we can get the guy away from the hostage."
"Tag team?" Kurt asked, glancing at Kyle. "You keep the Purifiers busy while I take the hostages to safety?"
Kyle grunted an affirmative, and pulled the 'security' badge on the lanyard around his neck out so it showed. It might not keep the cops from trying to stop them but at least he'd sort of kind of look legit. Maybe. "Be ready to bamf in if I yell. I don't really feel like being shot this weekend." He said.
"If I see a gun as I am in and out", Kurt promised, "the one holding it will be in the water before they know what hit them."
"As long as I don't go with 'em." Kyle headed straight for the bridge, and went down to all-fours as he moved past the jersey walls that had been hastily pulled into an impromptu blockade. The police must've been given a heads up, because no one even seemed to look more than twice at a guy in black jeans and a t-shirt going past them running on all fours.
Kurt instantly moved into his own kind of action, vanishing to pop back up behind the Purifier on guard and removing one of the hostages before he even had time to look around.
By the time the sulfurous smoke cleared, Kyle was already in full "big bad scare mutie" mode, and was tackling into the ex-hostage-taker, pulling the man down to the ground before he had time to do more than try to push Kyle away. The flak vest and knife did no good - the knife was knocked away before the man had a chance to do more than slash once, and he was left with a broken thumb for his trouble. "If you give up now I won't break your ribs before I give you over to the cops." Kyle growled. "Nice quiet cell, no mutants..." He pulled the man's arm back into a hold and grinned. "Or you know, maybe some mutants. Couple of kids got arrested last night for drinking underage."
Kurt reappeared at that point with his hands full of zip ties, of which he tossed one to Kyle before going to work on the man's feet. "Of course, it does not much matter to us if you give up quietly or not, after what you did."
The Purifier spat, and cursed, but with two men restraining him, it did very little. These were clearly not well-trained people - or trained at all, really.
"Dude, it so does. If he gives up quietly, we don't have to listen to him." Kyle kept one arm around the man's neck while Kurt restrained his feet, and then switched out so he could cuff the man's hands. "Bigotry is boring, dude." He shoved the man in the back, leading him off towards one of the waiting officers.
Kurt turned back towards the hostages, and yellow eyes narrowed as he saw that one of the remaining Purifiers had a gun out and pointed toward the police officers - and Kyle. He teleported straight forward, snatched the gun from the man's hand and pushed him unceremoniously off the bridge. His gun quickly splashed after him, an expression of distaste on Kurt's face as he dropped it.
Kyle tapped his comm just as he approached Kurt, grinning. "Meltdown and Pinky have the explosives under control, EMTs have the person you rescued, and shit is seriously on fire at First Avenue." He shrugged. "So, two outta three. Oh, and Fred might've eaten a car bomb. I'm not sure, shit is really loud over there." He shrugged.
"And the rest of these hostages", he turned to gesture to the people who were already almost to the police line, "will be taken care of. Shall we go to see what we can do at First Avenue?"
"Maaaan, you know how long it takes me to get the smell out?" Kyle complained, but let Kurt drape one arm over his shoulder for the teleport.
Meltdown and Hubba plus bomb squad.

Firestar and Cannonball rescue people swept off the bridge, and stop some of the panicked crowd from going swimming.
Harriet Island was in chaos. Though already it was obvious the attack could have been the a lot worse. People were still flailing in the water though, some mutations obviously not built for swimming, some people just not being able to swim. Others? The Mississippi started to pull downstream swiftly, showing even when lowered by drought that it still was a wild thing.
It was up to Sam and Angel to pluck everyone from the mighty river before they drifted too far away or worse, so he took off at top speed to do just that. "First priority are those who can't swim or are strugglin', then those drifting the furthest away." They had to get the most desperate persons first, and he swooped down, scooping out a nearby man who had been flailing wildly in the water.
It was a little more difficult for Angel, who was confined to land as she fished people out. Well, it would have been more difficult if she'd had any qualms about allowing herself to get wet. "There you go," she said as she helped a young woman drag herself onto solid ground. She'd already half thrown herself into the admittedly crazy river at one point to save someone that had gone under, and she didn't doubt she'd end up doing it again.
With Angel sticking closer to the shore, Sam headed out towards those persons further downriver, plucking another pair of persons from the water and placing them on dry land. He looked around to see if anyone else was in bad shape but so far they seemed to be doing well with the rescue mission. "How's it lookin' over there?" Sam blasted back into the air, looking back up and down the river as he spoke.
"All good-" Angel cut herself off mid-sentence as she missed a person's hand, and she scrambled up quickly, bolting a little further down the shoreline and grabbing the man before he could get away again. "Gotcha!" She said as she dragged the sputtering man to solid ground. She continued kneeling and looking up and down the river, then gave Sam a quick wave as a conclusion to the statement she'd begun earlier before snagging another unfortunate soul.
Sam waved back to her and looped back around as he scanned the river again. "Keep up the great work, we've got this." There were another couple of people in need of assistance, where it seemed one person had waded out to help another and now the both of them were fighting against the strong current. He flew down and gave them the extra boost they needed to free themselves from the mighty Mississippi's influence and helped them to the riverside.
"Not a great day for a swim, is it?" Angel asked as she helped another woman out. This statement earned her a glare. She heard a splash a little ways down and looked around to see a person struggling to stay above the waterline. Sam was preoccupied, so Angel flamed on and took to the air to get down there faster. She landed just as the person went under and quickly got down on her stomach, plunging her hand into the water and finding the collar of the person's shirt, pulling him up and over. He probably wouldn't appreciate a joke either.
"Nice save there." Sam had seen Angel's efforts just before taking off to scoop out someone else whose head had just popped up out of the water, their arms waving for help. Once he'd placed that person back upon dry land he took the skies again, eyes searching the river, and it seemed like they'd almost finished their task. "Anyone else on your end that you can see?" There was one more gentleman close to the river banks who couldn't quite get out of the water so Sam went to assist him but other than that it looked like everyone else was safe.
Angel stood up, craning her neck to look up and down the river. Realizing she was too short to really judge, she raised herself into the air to get a better look. "All good as far as I can tell," she called to Sam, keeping her eyes on the water in case another person decided to pop out. But no, the water seemed to be clear.
After one more scan to be sure, Sam touched his comm and headed back in Angel's direction. "Roger that, seems fine from here too. Heading back to see if there's anything else we can do to help." Now that they'd finished up there perhaps they could be of use elsewhere.
"Ten-four," Angel responded, looking towards what was left of the concert set up. What a night.
