Sam and company meet at the airport to fly out to Kentucky.
The airport was going through one of its slower periods, where there were more flights inbound and waiting to land than outgoing flights loading up and getting ready to depart. As such, Sam, Kurt, Tabby, and Lorna were able to move about with little crowds interfering or getting in their way, and there were no long line ups in security or the baggage check areas to slow them down. They'd made it all the way through to the boarding area with plenty of time to spare and were now just waiting for their flight to Kentucky to announce it was boarding.
Sam readjusted the strap of his carry on bag, which he'd slung over his shoulder after dropping off his main suitcase in the airport's baggage check area. He hadn't meant to bring all that much with him, seeing as they'd only be gone for the weekend, but since he was bringing gifts for his younger siblings he'd had to pack almost an entire extra suitcase for that purpose. Between what clothes he could stuff into the gift-heavy checked baggage and his carry on he'd be set for the weekend, however, and now that they were waiting to board and almost en route the fact that he was going to see his family again very soon began to sink in, putting a big grin on his face.
"Thanks for coming along, everyone. I'm grateful for the company and I'm sure Ma will be glad to see y'all again." It was always nice to have fellow travelers and even though the Guthrie household was far from being an empty one he knew how much his mother loved to host others, especially friends of her children.
Kurt grinned back over at him, with only a duffel bag slung on his shoulder. "If your mother is short of space for all of us, I will sleep wherever may be convenient."
"Thanks for inviting us Sam." Lorna smiled back at Sam before looking out the window watching them load luggage. "Hope Lili is okay. Oh and thanks for letting me bring Lili she'll like being outside."
"Don't mention it, like I said, it's great having some company along. And there's lots of room for us all, don't worry about that. I just hope you all don't find it too boring is all, heh." Sam grinned and scratched the back of his head. His family was waiting for him and that was more than enough for him, but there wasn't all that much to do there compared to home at Xavier's.
Tabs emphatically did not have a white-knuckled grip on her knapsack. "So, these commercial pilots, they're pretty safe, right?" she asked. "I mean, it's been a while since I flew with someone I didn't know at the controls, y'know?"
"Yes, Tabitha", Kurt said with gentle amusement, stepping up to pat her hand. "Commercial pilots are certified and monitored very carefully."
"Kurt is right, they do this for a living." Lorna reassured Tabitha before adding. "Plus you have me on board, so you'll be extra safe."
Sam nodded in agreement. "It'll be alright, Tabs, promise." Flying was pretty much second nature to him and he sometimes forgot that not everyone was a big fan of it. He looked up at the sound of a pre-boarding announcement for their flight. "That's us, or it will be soon enough." He readjusted his bag once more and nodded towards the check in area. "Shall we?" Once the pre-board was done they'd start general boarding and since he was a little anxious to be heading back home he was eager to get in line.
Tabitha let out a heavy breath. "I suppose the sooner in the air, the sooner back on the ground," she said glumly as she shuffled toward the gate.
"Dude, get a grip. You're like, statistically more likely to die tripping on your bath mat then from a plane crash," Jubilee noted with a cheery smile, coming up behind the group with a slightly harried expression. She slid in beside Kurt and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Sorry, I got held up at the office."
Kurt grinned and wrapped an arm around her, giving her a quick squeeze in return. "Late, but not too late, so all is well."
