Sam runs into Scott near the pool and the two catch up before going for a dip.

Summer was Sam's favourite season for many reasons, but one of the top ones was being able to swim outside. There were several options for that at the mansion as well, though today he'd opted not to swim in the pond but to instead use the pool at the mansion. It was easier for drying off and getting back and forth than the pond, after all, and overall just more convenient, so that's what he'd decided to do.

Taking a towel with him and a bottle of water, Sam headed for the pool area. When he got there he laid his things by one of the chairs near the pool and smiled at the other person he found poolside. "Heya Scott, how's it goin'?"

Scott smiled at Sam from the lounger he currently occupied, "Hey Sam, not too much, just you know." he vaguely gestured in the direction of the sun. "It's nicer out here than in the old boiler room" Scott confided, he'd been spending time down there to recharge recently, but with the sun being so nice today the older man had decided to risk hanging out by the pool.

The sun was pretty bright, making for a good day at poolside, so he could hardly argue with Scott on that point. "Mmmhmm, I mean it's nice down there too but you just can't beat the real thing, right?" Moving his things a little, Sam sat down in one of the chairs next to Scott. "Been awhile since we've talked. How're you doin'?"

"You really can't," Scott agreed, "The simulation is good but nothing beats the real thing." He sat up and sighed, "I've been hanging in there I guess, things have always tough around here but recently." Scott shrugged, "It feels like we're just taking blow after blow. It gets to you after a while you know."

"It really does, yeah." He'd had a similar conversation with Angel not all that long ago, about how it doesn't get easier over time after going through so many bad things. "All you can do is hang in there sometimes, and this has really been one of those times for, what, the better part of a year now or so, heh." Sam hoped it'd get better, and soon, though he wouldn't be the one to utter those jinxed words 'at least it can't get any worse' because, well, why tempt fate? "Today's pretty nice, though, which is a start, right?" One day at a time was the only way to take it after all.

Scott smiled, "On a day like this, it's hard to imagine anything bad happening," Scott agreed before looking around guiltily. "I just jinxed it didn't I?" he asked gloomily, his ears straining to hear the inevitable shattering of glass or screaming that was bound to crop up now.

"Heh, maybe a little bit, but it's ok." Sam grinned. He didn't really believe in superstitions all that much; whatever was going to happen was going to happen. He didn't like tempting the fates just the same, but he wasn't about to call out Scott for doing as much. "I won't tell if you don't." Standing up, Sam headed over to the pool, dipping a foot inside. "Up for a few laps?"

Scott shook his head as he stretched "Still laboring under the mistaken belief you can beat me?" he laughed, "I'd be happy to show you the error of your ways." Scott grinned at Sam as he walked over to the side of the pool. The water looked tempting, but he knew better than that, it was bound to be freezing when he got in.

"Mistaken? I dunno about that, heh." Scott probably was the better swimmer but Sam was no slouch himself. He slipped inside the water, inhaling sharply at the change in temperatures before his body acclimated to it. "Only one way to find out though, huh?"

Scott grimaced slightly, he had been hoping Sam wouldn't call his bluff and force him to actually get into the pool. Shaking his head he slipped into the pool, and grabbed onto the side, unwilling to show any sign of weakness as his competitor was looking on. "Ready?"

"Set, go!" Sam pushed off with his feet and began swimming in earnest to the other end, getting a head start against Scott. It was just for fun and there were fewer things more fun than messing with Scott, after all.
