Sam and Kurt invite Tabby over to watch a movie.
Sam finished drying the last dish, carefully returning it to its place in the cupboard once he'd done so. "There we go," he said, hanging the dish towel on a nearby rack. "All done and put away for another night." He brushed his hands together, then put them in his pockets and looked over at his suitemate, eyebrows raised. "So, now what are we gonna do?"
Kurt grinned back, considering. "Put on a DVD and eat popcorn?" he suggested easily.
"Ah, but what movie should we watch?" Sam was more than ok with that suggestion, and didn't really care what they watched, so he'd leave that up to Kurt. "Your pick, I'm ok with whatever you'd like to see.""But all the DVDs are yours", Kurt pointed out, laughing. "What have you not watched for a while?"
"Hmmm." Sam sauntered over to their collection, rubbing his chin as he examined them all before finally plucking one from the shelf. "How 'bout a little spaghetti western, yeah?" He held up a copy of "A Fistful of Dollars" for his suitemate to inspect.
"That should do very nicely." He wandered over to the kitchen to look for the popcorn. "Perhaps we should invite Tabitha to join us."
"Oh, hey, yeah. We, uh. We could, yeah," replied Sam with a grin. He hadn't really talked to Kurt about his recent encounters with Ms. Smith yet, but there was no time like the present. "I'd like that, and I think she would too, maybe. I hope." Well, for a given value of talking about it, at least.
"It would do her good to have some social time", Kurt agreed cheerfully. "She hides in her library far too much."
"Yeah, it'd be nice to have her here, I think." Sam said, still grinning. "I mean, if you don't mind, that is." He didn't think Kurt would but it was only polite to ask. "We, uh. We had a good chat the other night."
"Really?" he asked innocently. "What did you talk about? And no, I do not mind at all."
"About stuff. Like... like maybe going out some time. No big deal." Sam shrugged it off but the look on his face betrayed his enthusiasm at the idea. "Alright then, if you don't mind then I should maybe call her, or text her, or something." He frowned. "Should I call or text her?" How did one even relationship? Sam was at a loss, unfortunately.
"You live in the same house", Kurt pointed out. "I would go to see her in person, since you can."
"We do, this is true." What Kurt suggested made perfect sense. "Then... then I guess I should go and do that then, before we get started." Sam looked down at himself, then back at his suitemate. "Do I look alright though? I mean, like, presentable?"
Kurt laughed. "You are clean, wearing clothes, and your hair is brushed. Yes, you look perfectly presentable."
"Ok, well, um." Sam coughed and gave himself the once over again just because. "I guess I should go see if she's free then, yeah?" Pause. "You didn't want to come with or anything, did you?"
"No, I think there is no need", he said cheerfully, grinning. "I will have everything ready when you get back."
"Ok then, sounds good. Then I... will be right back." Sam managed a little grin and then left the suite, heading for Tabby's room. All the way he tried to think of what to say and how to say it, but nothing really came to mind. He was still thinking when he realized his hand was reaching out and knocking on her door, whoops.
Knocks on her door were in the distinctly odd category. A great deal of puzzlement turned to pure happiness when she saw who was on the other side of the door. "Sam!" She beamed. "And we're both dressed!" Damn it. Wait, I did not just think that. And blushing definitely wasn't allowed.
"Haha, uh, we are, yeah. How 'bout that?" Sam chuckled at that, rubbing the back of his neck. "Maybe I should just take my shirt off or somethin', haha." No, what was he saying? This was why he was trying to figure out what to say beforehand. He shook his head and continued on with why he was there before he said anything else. "Say, Kurt and I were about to put a movie on, so we were wonderin'... I mean, I was wonderin' if you'd maybe like to join us? If you've got other plans though that's ok, totally."
A chance to get out of her room where she was quite thoroughly not sleeping? "I'm in," she said quickly. She winced. Possibly too quickly. "A movie sounds great." Though Sam taking his shirt off would beat a movie any- Tabitha Smith, stop that line of thought right now.
"Ok, yeah, great!" Sam said, grinning widely. "We picked out A Fistful Of Dollars to watch but if you'd rather watch something else that'd be fine, I'm sure." Kurt wasn't hard to get along, after all, and neither was Sam for that matter. "If you wanna bring one of your movies that'd be ok too."
She shook her head. "I don't have many movies. And I've never seen that one. New is good, right?" Better than stagnation.
"It is, yeah. I think you'll like it, it's a great movie. You do like westerns, yeah?" If she wasn't terribly fond of the genre as a whole she might not enjoy it as much, possibly.
Tabs grinned as she stepped out into the hallway. "If it's terrible, I will throw popcorn at your head."
"Nah, I should be pretty safe. I think." Sam chuckled as spoke, leading them down the hallway towards his and Kurt's suite. He opened the door for her once they got there, gesturing for her to enter first.
The smell of popcorn filled the common area as she stepped in, and the DVD was cued up and ready to play. Kurt smiled at her. "Tabitha, glad to see you could make it."
"It was terrible, squeezing time out of my busy schedule," she deadpanned. "I was so busy, moping in my apartment."
"Oh, I didn't know you had pl-" Sam started before catching on. "Heh, I mean. Yeah, I had to practically drag her out of there." He headed for the kitchenette, looking to Kurt and Tabs as he reached for the cupboard where they kept their glasses. "Can I get anything to drink for anyone?"
"Perhaps a bottle of wine?" Kurt suggested. "We can make it a party. Or beer, if people prefer."
"Beer for me, please," Tabitha said. "The cheaper the better."
"You're in luck, then, as that's what we drink almost exclusively" Sam grinned as he took out three bottles of beer, heading to the couch to join them. He handed them each a bottle, then opened his own and took a sip.
"Please", Kurt said teasingly, accepting his bottle with a grin. "We drink quality beer in this suite, although it may not exactly be expensive."
Tabs settled onto the couch, knees to chest, with her beer. "We ready to get this movie started? Where's my popcorn? Just in case I have to pelt Sam."
"I'm good to go, yup." He'd just sat down next to Tabby and was opening his beer when he realized he forgot the popcorn. "Aw, nuts. Kurt, buddy, would you mind?" Sam felt a little bad asking his roomie to get it, especially since Kurt had gone through the trouble of making it, but, well. He'd just sat down next to her, so hopefully he wouldn't be too cross.
Kurt laughed at him and started towards the kitchen. "I will expect a matching favour in return in the future. Tabitha, if any popcorn hits me, there will be retribution."
"I will endevor to keep you free of popped corn." She made pleading, grabby hands in Kurt's direction.

The movie wasn't boring, really. She tried with all her might to keep her eyes open, but her blinks kept getting longer and longer. She wasn't entirely sure when she stopped opening her eyes. But it was beautiful, restful sleep.
Sam wasn't sure when it had happened either, but at some point he did become cognizant of the fact Tabby was cuddled up beside him, and his arm was around her shoulder. When had that happened? He stole a glance over at Kurt, Sam's eyebrows raised questioningly, and he opened his mouth to ask out loud but it seemed like Tabby was asleep and he didn't want to disturb her, so instead he just stared at his friend for an explanation.
Kurt shot him an amused look and said quietly, "I think this may be the best sleep she has had for quite some while. It would seem a shame to disturb her."
Tabitha did not oblige by waking up at that moment, but instead sighed contentedly in her sleep and snuggled closer.
