Invading demons destroy the Christmas spirit - and Angel's and Lorna's suite.
"Dashing through the snow, in a one horse open sleigh..."
Angel was grinning as she got up her tiptoes, hooking the lights to the wall of the common area. She and Lorna were a bit behind on Christmas decorating, but better late than never, right?
"O'er the hills we go, laughing all the way!"
The redhead giggled, bouncing off the chair she'd been standing on and kneeling down to plug in the lights. They blinked on, and she grinned up at her handy work. "Lights are done!" She sang, hopping up and whirling on her heel.
Lorna had just put the star on top of their tree and looked over at the lights, "Very nice. Want to help with the rest of the tree. I feel like it needs more ornaments." Floating back down to the ground and started to dig through the boxes for more ornaments. The smell of cookies came from their small kitchenette were Lorna was making Christmas cookies.
"Sure!" Angel bounced over, grabbing a few ornaments and reaching for hooks. She was just going back to the tree when a familiar voice echoed in her head -- a warning from Charles Xavier. The mansion was under attack.
And she stopped dead, whirling around to look at Lorna. "What?"
Lorna looked up when Xavier's voice entered her head, "Attacked by what?"
As if answering her question, a demon smashed through the window and landed on their couch. It growled at both the girls before launching itself towards them.
"Hey!" Angel yelped as the demon flew through the window, catching the lights that were running over it and ripping them down. "I just hung those up!" As it jumped at them, she threw her hands and out and shot off one large fireball. The ball of flames and the demon met head on, sending the creature flying into the Christmas tree.
The smell of burning demon flesh filled the room. "No not the Christmas tree." Lorna yelled out and focused on the metals in the room and sent them flying towards the demon. It was too late to save the Christmas Tree. "Is it dead?"
As if responding to Lorna, the demon's body collapsed into a pile of goo. "Eugh," Angel muttered as she stepped closer. "Guess that's your answer."
There was a crash as their door was barreled down, revealing two more demons. Great. So it was one of those knock down one get two more things. Angel took a step back, flames sparking between her fingers as the demons advanced.
"That better not ruin the carpet." The green haired woman turned to see their door crashing down to the floor. "Get. Out. Of. Our. Room!" Lorna had enough of demons ruining her day of Christmas decorating and sent out a magnetic pulse that sent the demons backwards as Angel's fire hit them. Lorna walked over to the broken door and looked out to see the goo on the opposite wall. "Gross."
"What the hell is going on?" Angel said in disbelief as she hurried to join Lorna in the door, looking down the hall and seeing yet more of the creatures running towards them. "Oh man. Fire in the hole!" She called as she shot off a flame ball, trying to slow their assault.
Lorna turned to see two more running at them from the other way. She put her back towards Angel and sent another Magnetic Blast down the hallway. "Why can't it be cute little bunnies attacking?"
"Aw, no! I don't wanna attack bunnies!" Angel called back as she fried the demons coming down from her end. These ones, strangely enough, didn't collapse into goo. They just fell to the ground, burned and dead. Of course. "Nothing like the smell of burning monster flesh to say it's Christmas!"
Lorna turned to see the other demons just falling to the floor, "Are these different kind of species of demons?"
"I dunno, I'm not exactly the authority on demons," Angel said with a frown as she examined the burning creatures. "Where's a magic person when you need 'em?"
Walking down the hall to the very end, Lorna looked down the other set of hallways. "I can hear fighting in other parts of the manor." Lorna almost tripped as a demon latched onto her legs and she floated up into the air. "Get ready Angel Cakes." Lorna kicked her other leg at the demon to send it flying back down the hallway towards Angel.
Angel was already charging forward when she saw the demon grab Lorna -- as it flew at her she threw her hands out, frying the demon. "You alright?"
Lorna threw up a shield just in case of fire coming down her way, "Yup!" Lorna called out. "Shit Angel the cookies!"
"Wha-?!" Angel's eyes darted back to look into the door of the suite, and she saw smoke coming out of the oven. "Oh damn it!" She hurried back, shutting the oven off and yanking it open. She grabbed the tray, tossing the burnt cookies into the sink. "That's it. I want a refund on this Christmas."
"At least it isn't on Christmas. Should we see if there are more lingering? See if the kids are alright?"
Angel sighed as she walked back out, looking around. It seemed quiet, for the most part - up here, at least. She could hear the sound of fighting coming from the floor below. "Check the kids. If there are any left up here someone else can grab 'em."
"I'll make more cookies later. Promise." Lorna went into her room and pulled out a metal chain and wrapped it around her waist. "Let's go."
