Jean finds Lorna in the medlab after this post and tends to her.

Lorna looked at her cellphone in the dark med lab but didn't actually read the text. She made a groaning type noise as she turned over in one of the beds and lifted the blanket over her head as she started a cough attack.

What might've seemed like an eternity later but was only a couple of minutes, the light switched on.

"I could've sworn someone had sent me a text from down here," Jean said. She wore only her nightgown and robe, as she wasn't sure what the nature of the emergency was. "But all I see is a coughing blanket. Where could she be?"

A hand shot out from under the blanket. "Over here." Lorna said before going into a coughing fit. "My poor throat and chest."

Grabbing some supplies from the cart, Jean slipped the stethoscope on like someone would a comfortable pair of shoes, then tugged on a pair of exam gloves.

"If you don't mind, while we're here, I might as well check to see if you have signs of bronchitis. Especially if both your throat and chest hurt. That way we can get you started on antibiotics and get you better much faster," she said.

Her voice soothed, honeyed with years of caring for the sick and injured, sympathizing with their misery in a way that was only enhanced by her telepathy. Most would see the ability to feel one's pain and hear their thoughts overwhelming, but it was the reason why she became a doctor in the first place. She knew she could help.

"I'd also like to check your temperature."

"You are the best." Lorna sat up straight and coughed again while trying to get the mucus out. "You know that right?" Thankful that there were resident doctors in the mansion. Lorna never had to go far when she was feeling under the weather.

Jean smirked. "That's what they always say, until I break out the needles," she said. She paused at the inevitable uncomfortable look.

"Which we won't be doing. But, it's happened."

She crossed the room, brandishing an ear thermometer. Brushing Lorna's hair back gently, she stuck the thermometer into her ear, waiting for the beep.

"Are your lymph nodes swollen?"

"I can handle needles. As long as they make the sickness go away." Lorna tilted her head as she watched Jean come over to her with a thermometer.

"I am not sure.." Feeling her throat before saying. "They feel swollen."

"Hmm," Jean said, checking the thermometer. She nodded as she popped the disposable plastic cover in the trash. A tablet floated over to her from it's place on a charging station and the case cover opened, turning on.

"101 degrees," she said, making notes in Lorna's file, which had her picture. The tablet floated back over to the table and she put the ear buds of her stethoscope in her ears.

"Alright, let's check your chest," she said, putting the stethoscope on her back.

"Take a deep breath. It's okay to cough, but if you do just take another deep breath when you're done."

Lorna peeked over at the file as it floated away. She took a deep breath in and then let it out, holding her breath for a second before starting to cough. "What is the diagnosis?"

"I need you to take a couple more breaths, but it's looking like bronchitis, I'm afraid," Jean said, moving the stethoscope to another part of her back to hear her other lung.

"It'll take a few days for you to recover, so my recommendation is to stay in your suite for awhile and catch up on your Netflix."

Lorna breathed in and out before coughing again."Great. Lovely Just what I always wanted."

Closing her eyes and hanged her head, "Any recommendations?"

"The gift that keeps on giving," Jean said with a sympathetic smirk.

"I'll email you a list. In the meantime we should get you back to bed. You said you took some Nyquil? How long ago was that?"

"I think this is one gift that should just stop." Lorna said while fixing the blanket back over her shoulder.

"Um...couple hours ago. It had put me to sleep but yea weird dreams. Not sure if I want to have Godzilla dreams again."

"It's a little too early for you to try something else, sadly. When you wake up in the morning I recommend using some Mucinex. It should help. And if you're still awake in 3 hours you can take it then," Jean said.

"Okay." Lorna went to stand up and brushed back her green hair from her face. "Do you have mucinex here?"

"I think so," Jean said, the door opening as she crossed to the supply closet. "Provided we haven't been cleaned out."

Living with a house full of teenagers meant stocking up on certain supplies. It was easier than having to go to the store 7 times a week, or more.

Tugging the blanket closer to her, "I hope not. I will find who took the last of the mucinex and I will make them porridge without any flavor."

Jean grinned. "When you're well, absolutely. In the meantime though...bed," she said, then added thoughtfully while scanning the closet.

"Hmmm."

"Yes Jean." Lorna looked over at her and then the closet. "Bio suits?"

"Not unless you have the bubonic plague," Jean said. She paused, then added. "You don't, by the way. I'm looking for Mucinex. I think we--ah ha."

She poked her head out, holding up a bottle of blue liquid.

"This should help you sleep, and you can take it during the day as well."

"It is blue. Can I trust it?"

Jean laughed. "Have you have problems with blue things before?"

Lorna gave Jean a wry smile, "No. I just never took anything blue before."

"Hmmm. Surely I had to have given you something blue before at some time," Jean mused. "But yes, you can trust it." She tucked it into Lorna's hands.

"Shall I walk you back to your room?"

"Maybe? My mind is cloudy at the moment." Looking down at the bottle. "If you want, I don't want to keep taking you away from your sleep."

Jean shook her head. "Right now my concern is you," she said with a warm, but amused smile. "I have a light day tomorrow. I can sleep in."

"Alright. You do live down the hall from me." Lorna yawned but it was soon replaced with a cough.

"Yep. I do," Jean said, extending her hand to help Lorna off the table should she need it. "See? It works out well."

"Yes. Yes it does." Lorna smiled weakly and started to walk out of the room.

Jean helped her along, the medlab lights turning off behind them. Just another house call at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.
