Molly brings Wade a present - and Wade explains engines to her.

Wade had his head buried beneath the hood of his Impala, his arms covered in grease up to his elbows as he worked on general maintenance. He wouldn't have gotten so dirty, normally, but Marie-Ange had distracted him with her legs and her general self and the oil pan had slipped. Suddenly he'd been a very distracted man covered in used motor oil watching his girlfriend walk into the mansion.

After changing his shirt, he'd gone back to taking care of the car, half laughing at himself.

Molly had just come back from the mall. She'd gone to get her weekly comics but she'd also picked up a few other things too that she liked to give to people. So she was on her way to finding Wademan, and eventually did. She'd checked the kitchen first but she shoulda checked the garage since he was there a lot when he wasn't with Mary Angie.

"Hi Wademan!" she said, then paused, giggling. "Did you get in a fight with the car?"

Looking up, Wade grinned. "Nah, just dropped an oil pan on myself. Y'know, full of oil. What's up, half-pint?"

Reaching into her pocket, Molly yanked out a candy bar, then presented it to him like she were a magician. "Tada! I brought you Reese's Peanut Butter Cups! We went to the store today and I got some for me too. I would've got some for Doug but he's farther away."

She craned her head, peering at the car's insides. She never really stopped by the garage a lot since it was where the boys hung out. It wasn't that she didn't like boys, she just preferred outside.

"So the oil comes out of the car? It's like car blood?"

"Yeah, sort of," Wade said, nodding. "You put it in over here," he indicated the appropriate cap. Shrugging to himself, he grabbed a fresh can of motor oil and unscrewed it, then tilted it so Molly could see. "It's this nice kind of honey color. But after it's been used for a while, it gets dirty, so you have to take it all out, which you do down beneath the car. You put the oil pan down and it catches all the old oil, which is black and kind of gross, as you can see from my hands. Once the car's empty, you fill it with the new oil so everything will continue to run smoothly."

Molly leaned against the car, blinking with a slow nod. "What does the oil do that makes it dirty?" she said as she watched carefully and curiously.

"So it like...keeps stuff from getting jammed up?"

"Yeah, it runs through the whole motor and picks up all kinds of grit and dirt that would normally collect and make gunk that would keep your engine from working," Wade said, reaching for a clean rag to wipe his hands on. Once he trusted he wouldn't be eating used motor oil with his candy bar, he took it from Molly and opened it. "The best way to keep a car running for basically forever is routine oil changes - every 3000 miles."

"Huh," Molly said, grabbing her own package of Reese's to eat once she saw Wademan doing it. "Neat."

"What about that thing?" she said, pointing to the carburetor.

"That's the carburetor. It mixes up the air and the fuel," Wade explained, quirking a smile. Molly seemed really interested in this. Usually he was working with Korvus or Logan and they didn't need to know anything about carburetors. So he got comfortable and settled in, moving a little so Molly could have a better look at the engine as a whole while she asked her questions and they finished up their Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
