Sue and Tandy: Gala: Peptalk (Backdated)
Jun. 28th, 2014 09:00 pmSue gives Tandy a peptalk before she goes backstage for the auction.
"I can't believe you're really going to do this," Sue whispered surreptitiously to her best friend as she glanced around the ballroom before her attention was drawn back onto the stage where the auction was being held. "I mean it's awesome but still, don't think I could."
"It is for a good cause - right?" Tan chewed on her lower lip anxiously and looked around the room. "I mean what is the worse that can happen?" Not get bid on. Her inner voice was being cruel to her. "I should go back stage and prepare myself, right?"
"Hey," Sue reached of to grab Tandy's hand to stop her from going anywhere and catching her friend's eye, "You're awesome and are gonna be fine." she assured the other blonde. "Who'd be crazy enough not to bid for a date with you?" she pointed out guessing at Tandy's thoughts as she slid her chair back and stood up, "Come on, lets go see what the back stage here looks like."
"Um people who think I am too young? Maybe they don't like blondes? Or I am too tall?" Tan stood up and looked at her friend. "I am too tall."
"You're only two inches taller than me and I'm...petite," Sue countered, the teenager's height was one of her pet peeves, "besides, who doesn't like blondes?" Sue asked flicking her own blonde hair back, "Don't you know, we have more fun."
"But I am towering over some of the guys." Tandy said back to Sue. "And people who don't like blondes, don't like blondes. They think we don't have a brain. It is true we have more fun."
"Hi, I'm Sue Storm and I'm going to Princeton in the fall, and you're Tandy Bowen and your going to TISCH, who cares if some jerk doesn't think we have brains or don't like our hair colour?" Sue countered self assuredly, "You're awesome, and everyone here is going to love you, if they don't then they'll have to answer to me," Sue assured Tandy giving a mock threatening look.
"I care?" Tandy gave her friend an honest answer. "I mean I don't want to end up on a date with someone because I am legal, rich, and has boobs. I want someone I can have a conversation with."
"Tan, it's not like you're meeting someone at a party and agreeing to go out with them, it's a charity auction. It's just the one night and then you never have to see them again if you don't want to. They're here so they must be interested in charity and can't be that bad," Sue gave her best friend a small smile that morphed into a grin, "I'll tell you what, if you don't like the look of whoever's bidding give me the super secret special signal, like tuck your hair behind your ear or something, and I'll buy the date."
"Really? you would do that for me?" Tandy smiled at her friend before giving the other blonde a hug. "What would I do if you weren't here?"
"Suffer through a dry and boring date with Captain shifty-eyes over there," Sue replied in a deadpan as she hugged her friend back, "besides, what's $10 between friends," She teased as she grabbed Tandy's arm and pointed towards the backstage door, "Now on to glory and spotlightness!"
"I don't even want to know who you are talking about." Though she was half tempted to turn around and see. "Ten bucks you say? I am a steal." Tan tried to lighten the mood because there were crazy butterflies going on. "Okay I am going. How do I look?" She did a quick twirl for her friend.
"Absolutely perfect, you're gonna kill it up there," Sue assured Tandy. "Totally worth the 10 bucks," she said as she grinned, anything to keep her friend's mind off the butterflies.
"Good I don't want to disappoint." Tandy gave her friend two thumbs up before disappearing behind stage to get ready for when it would be her turn to be auctioned off.
Sue dropped back into her chair as she watched her friend disappear behind the stage door, "I still can't believe she's doing this," she commented to no-one in general as she reached for her glass, of juice, as the teenager settled in to watch the show as the auctioneer walked out onto the stage.
