[Artie, Kitty] What d'you say?
Apr. 2nd, 2004 05:53 pmFollowing this post, Artie gets an idea in his head and he seeks out Kitty to put his plan in motion
Kitty was working in the library, sitting cross legged on one of the computer chairs, perfectly balanced as she typed away at her laptop, books open to either side of her. Pausing for a few seconds, she stretched, the pulled back her hair, swiftly twisting it up and knotting it to keep it out of her face.
Artie peeked around the stack of books and watched Kitty for a moment, then stepped back. Kitty was always nice and helpful to everyone, he told himself. She'd help with his plan. He approached her and waved.
"Hi, Kitty," he signed.
The motion of his wave caught her attention and she turned, smiling as she recognized Artie. "Hi," she said, far better at reading Artie's signs than making them herself. "What's up?"
"Help," Artie signed. "I need your help." He sat down on a desk, swinging his feet. *the image of Kitty working on a computer, lines going out from it, lines to Sarah, to a subway entrance, to a house, and a little Artie running along the lines, looking in the subway, looking in the house*
"You want me to help you find... something?" she asked. "Well, I'll be happy to help, but what are you looking for? Something of Sarah's?"
Artie gestured to her laptop. *a screenshot of the journals* "Look?" he signed. "I'll show."
Kitty nodded, pulling up the journal system on her laptop. Leaning back, she made space on her lap for Artie if he was willing to sit there - it would be easier to reach the keyboard that way. "Here you go..."
Artie thought about it and remembered that Marie said that you couldn't get cooties from your friends. He sat down in Kitty's lap and went to Sarah's journal, pointing at the April first entry there. "See?" he signed. *a little girl version of Sarah, smiling, runs down a sidewalk; another girl stands behind her laughing*
"Oh..." Kitty nodded, looking serious. "You want me to try and find Sarah's foster sister? Why?"
"Bad," Artie signed. *little Sarah sits on the subway steps alone, people passing by all around her* He shook his head angrily, fists clenched. "Bad," he signed again, more emphatically. Then he pointed to the lines "did you hit that girl for what she said? No, I didn't. I wish I had."
Kitty frowned at the line, trying to follow the ten year old's logic. "You want to find her so... So you can give Sarah the chance to hit her?"
"No, me," he signed, then pointed to his chest.
"Oh, so you can hit him." Kitty considered him seriously, then nodded. "Well, I can help you find her, I think. Or at least I can try. If you're going to play Knight in Shining Armor you should probably talk to Jamie or Doug. They're both experienced in such things."
Artie nodded and smiled at her. *a little chibi-Kitty sits with a computer in her lap and a big, bright lightbulb pops on over her head*
Kitty laughed. "Well, I'll do my best," she said, smiling.
Artie hugged her warmly, smiling. *Artie, Jamie, Doug, and Kitty are dressed up like the X-Men, walking down the main hall of the school* He laughed at his own picture.
Giggling, Kitty hugged him back. "Something like that," she agreed.
"Email?" Artie fingerspelled the word and then pointed at the inbox icon on Kitty's laptop taskbar.
"I should email you when I find her?" she asked, fingers typing a command to open her email program.
Artie nodded. "Please?" he signed, politely, looking positively angellic.
Kit smlied. "Sure. Sounds like a plan."
Artie bounced up, signing, "Thank you!" He gave Kitty a wave and a bright smile before dashing off through the library to find Doug and Jamie.
Waving as he headed off, she turned to her computer and pulled open a new window. She had a couple ideas of where to start.
