Wade drops by to offer Kurt a job.
Wade paused outside Kurt's suite door and knocked - he wasn't sure the other man would be interested in this kind of work, but he was pretty much perfect for it, so it was worth asking.
"Come in!" he called immediately, setting down the book he was reading. "It is not locked."
"Not interrupting you and the missus, am I?" Wade asked, poking his head inside as he raised his eyebrows.
"Not tonight", he said easily. "She is working. How are you, Wade?"
"Doing alright," Wade answered, grinning as he propped himself up in the door frame. "Gotta question for you, though - I've pulled together a couple rough teams to work security for Adrienne's shop in District-X and Catseye's deli in Westchester. Wanted to know if you'd be interested in helping out with the night work at the shop."
Kurt tilted his head, instantly intrigued. "Just to be sure no one comes to do damage to the stock?"
"That's what I'm hoping, but also to keep an eye on things, make sure there's no one shady lurking around. The thing with the shop is that it could theoretically be a target given it's involved in the fashion world and that fashion guy was murdered in the city recently. Nobody's really sure if it was an isolated incident or something that'll wind up overflowing to other fashion-related things," Wade said, nodding as he spoke. "Better safe than sorry - like I told Adri, it's my job to be paranoid."
"Fashion-related or mutant-related, and this is both", he said with a nod. "I would be glad to help protect the shop."
"Yeah, exactly," Wade said. "Excellent. I've got two people on the deli and I'm pretty sure Cats was getting Fred Dukes to watch it overnight. If you could do the same thing for the shop in District-X, that'd be great. I'll be handling physical security there during the day and Doug's keeping an eye on all the electronic security."
"Few people would be brave enough to tangle with Fred Dukes", Kurt agreed with a quick grin. "I have seen him tear a steel door off its hinges... my strengths will lie more in stealth and inspiring terror."
"Yeah, dude ripped a tree out of the ground, roots intact," Wade agreed, laughing a little. "Great - so we'll start tomorrow - we can meet up for dinner somewhere close to the shop and I'll give you a report of what's gone on while I've been there, then you can take over?"
"That seems a practical way to do things. Tomorrow, then - and for now, would you like to stay a while? There is beer in the fridge."
Pushing off the door frame, Wade walked into the suite proper and said, "Absolutely. You can let me know if I need to get my throwing knives back out for Meggan or not. I haven't seen her and Korvus together in a while."
