Logan goes to check on Rogue after her Thanksgiving road trip and in typical fashion ends up picking up the pieces before everything ends in a nap.

Logan didn't know when they'd gotten back but he'd picked up Marie's scent since breakfast so she was in the mansion but it hadn't moved all day. That wasn't usually like her. Something was up. By the time it hit mid-afternoon, he decided enough was enough and went to her room where he rapped on the door. "I know you're in there, kid. Everythin' alright?"

Why was it the second she was about to have a good cry, someone had to come and interrupt? ‎And that someone HAD to be Logan, who wouldn't take 'go away' for an answer.

She'd managed to keep in good spirits after her parents, had cried a bit to Julian but other than that, she'd been great. ‎It wasn't until she'd said goodbye to her friends, and headed to her room that the weight of the visit took its toll on her. All day, she'd replayed the conversation with her father in her mind, each time hoping for a different answer.

With a heavy sigh, she walked to the door but didn't open it. Instead, she leaned on it. "I'm okay, Logan. Just not the best company right now." her voice wavered, betraying her emotions. "Kinda tired and all from the drive." It was all she could do to stop the tears.

"You don't sound okay to me." She didn't smell it either. Her scent reeked of sadness and muted anger. Over the years she'd been there plenty of times for him. It was about time he paid back the favor because it didn't sound like she should be alone. "That never stopped you from draggin' it outta me. So open up 'fore you make me break down this door."

Swallowing thickly, she made a list of pros and cons in her head. None of her reasons and/or excuses ended with ‎an intact door. Opening it, she didn't wait for him to come in before walking back to her bed. She'd changed into a long sleeved shirt and a pair of yoga pants upon her return to the Mansion, but she hadn't bothered with gloves.

She sat down cross-legged and attempted a half-assed smile. "So how was your Thanksgiving, sugar? Did Scott finally let ya carve the turkey?"

He closed the door behind him as he walked in then moved to sit at the end of her bed. "You know it'd be a cold day in hell before he let that happen. But obviously better than the one you had." He reached out and patted her knee awkwardly. "So cut the shit and tell me what the hell happened?"

There were two ways this conversation could go: with tears, or with anger. Ever the over achiever, Rogue accomplished both.

"How do you think it went?," she asked angrily, the tears she'd held back suddenly coursing down her face. "I was there all of 15 minutes, basically got told by my daddy that he'd only love me if I wasn't a mutant and my mama pretended everything was fine, when it obviously ain't!"

She reached up and furiously brushed the tears off her cheeks. "It was a shitty idea, and you think I'd've learned mah lesson how many years back when you and I went ‎there but, no, I'm stupid and tried again."

Blinking hard, she lowered her head and buried her face in her hands, allowing herself to sob.

Logan didn't hesitate and reached out and pulled her against him. He didn't care if she got him. Even if she did then she'd get a glimpse at how wrong he thought her parents were. "Oh, sweetheart." He had a feeling this was going to happen. It's part of why he said no to going with them. He'd probably have turned it into an outright brawl by the end of it. "They're your parents. Of course you're gonna try again. You're always gonna try harder for the people ya love. No one faults ya for that."

He rubbed her back in slow circles. He hated to see her in this much pain but there wasn't much else he could do but be here and make sure she let it out. "It's shitty and nothin' I say is gonna make it anythin' less. But I'm here for ya and your friends are too. And ya know what? They're the ones missin' out on someone great. The kind of person they could only wish was their daughter."

"A mutant, who can't even touch, and only brings pain and destruction? That person?" She scoffed, and leaned against him, sniffling as she tried to bring her crying under control. Part of her knew that what she was saying wasn't true, and that Logan was right: she was a good person, damnit. But seeing her father's face, devoid of any emotion....

"Like, they RAISED me. I know I'm adopted, I know they didn't CHOOSE to have me, but they're all I know. Mystique sure as fuck isn't my parent, just knocked up some woman and left me.....and how fucked up is that anyways? God!" She took a deep breath, and let it out, shuddering slightly. "Maybe they're right -- I'm just not someone you can love. I dunno....I don't know anything right now." She tried to get out of the hug, but it was hard when he was holding so tight. Giving up, she leaned back again, looking down at her hands. She rarely saw her hands, unless she was in a room by herself. Her nails needed a good polish.

"See? I'm bad company, Logan. Y'all don't need to be here, your shirt gettin' all wet with tears, comfortin' mah crazy ass. People are gonna find out you're in here cuddlin', and that's jus' gonna ruin your rep."

"That ain't true and you know it. And your parents are idiots if they can't see past that. Ya touch people in other ways, with your spirit and your carin'." He hugged her tight for a moment to make a point. "Sweetheart, we're all fucked up but you know what? Out of all that fucked up shit, ya got Kurt and Amanda and everyone here that knows ya in the mansion. And ya got me for what that's worth. And we all wouldn't want you except exactly like you are."

He laughed at that. "You're back. Where else would people expect me to be than somewhere 'round you? Don't much care about my 'rep' anyway. I am who I am. People can fuck off if they don't like it." It wasn't like everyone important didn't know he had a soft spot when it came to Marie. Hell, that spot had turned into soft all over for all the damn kids that wandered through the Mansion's doors. A fact most people missed when they first looked at him, which suited him just fine.

Logan dipped his head to catch her eyes. "The only bad company is you in here by yourself. I'm right where I'm supposed to be, sweetheart, and that's right here makin' sure you don't pretend it don't mean shit. It means more than ya want it to mean but that's life. Ya can't run away from that."

This was exactly why she needed him in her life. People didn't realize that Logan could be this way -- they saw him as he wanted them to, but she knew this was him. Looking at his hazel eyes, she knew he was telling the truth. And it sucked. "Why you gotta be so sweet, Logan?" She gave a little laugh, and buried her head against his shoulder, her tears slowly subsiding. "Here I am, wantin' to rage against the world, and cry and maybe punch a wall, and instead y'all are being sweet. Is this when I should tell you I wanna watch crappy romances, and make you hand me tissues?"

He patted her back and teased. "'Cause I'm an asshole? We can still find you a nice rocky outcroppin' on the grounds to demolish. Maybe do some re-landscaping and create a place for you to retreat to when destruction's on your mind." He paused. "Didn't mean to take the wind outta your sails. Feel free to yell and scream all you want. I'll make sure no one decides to come investigate."

He eyed the TV with a long look. "Long as you don't mind me snorin' through 'em, I'll hand you all the tissues ya want."

Rogue impusively leaned over and gave him a kiss on the shoulder. "You're perfect, ya know that, Logan? I won't make ya watch anything ya don't wanna. I'm not feelin' more cryin' anyways.....but snorin' and sleepin', those sound like amazing things. I just drove 17 hours...I guess 34 hours in like four days." She bit at the inside of her lip, and raised an eyebrow, before blurting out, "Wanna nap? I'll put my gloves on...."

He snorted. "Ya got a long line of people that would disagree with you on that." He carefully tucked her hair behind her ear. "I wondered who was doin' all the drivin'." He raised an eyebrow back at her and shrugged. "We can do whatever ya want. If you wanna nap then let's nap. Just hope ya got a bed big enough to hold the both of us."

That brightened her up. She would never say no to cuddling, didn't really matter who it was.....although, it being Logan didn't hurt either. Her bed wasn't that big, but she was creative. "Okay!" She got off the bed, and walked to her dresser to put on a pair of long gloves. No accidents. "Stand up."

Once he moved, she stripped the blankets and pushed the bed closer to the wall, clearing off room on the floor. Laying down the blankets (and a few more from the closet), she threw down pillows and smiled. "Can't be worse than campin', right?"

Logan watched her work with an amused look. "Nope, considerin' we have central heatin'." It didn't look too bad to be honest. He just worried it might get too warm since he ran hotter than most people thanks to his healing factor.

He dropped onto the pile of blankets and left most of the space for Rogue since this was her room and all. He picked up and squeezed a couple pillows to find one he liked before he laid down on one and stretched out. "Pretty comfortable from down here."

Laying down, she curled up next to him, face to face and stifled a yawn. "Bet this wasn't what ya expected to do when you came up here, huh?"

"Not exactly, no. But that happens a lot." Logan gave her a smile and stifled his own yawn. Damn things were contagious. He made sure Marie was actually drifting off to sleep before he closed his own eyes and followed her.
