Julian stumbles home to find a most unexpected visitor.
The tumblers of the lock fell into place as the key turned, allowing Julian to release a sigh of relief that he hadn't realized he'd been holding in. It hadn't been a certainty that the condo would still be his, though he still held back any relief for once he swung the door open. Inside, lights were on, but it appeared things hadn't been disturbed in recent days. Things looked very similar to how he'd left them...but there were pieces of furniture that he didn't recognize and the logo for something in the shape of a porcelain jack-o-lantern on the wall.
Stepping inside, he breathed easier and headed toward a small home office set-up near the windows. The stress of the past few days had led to this field trip in order to secure more clothes for staying at the mansion and to see what was left of his life outside of the mansion and Salem Center; social media could only tell him so much. The windows outside were filled with early afternoon light as the sun rode high in the sky as he crossed the room and spotted a small home-office set-up.
He looked over his desk, or at least he assumed it was his desk as there were plenty of documents with titles and agencies he didn't recognize. Many seemed to share the same logo as the Jack-o-Lantern that adorned the wall he'd been wanting to put Pixie's painting on. A phone lay atop one of those stacks, not one he recognized either; as he reached to investigate, it began to ring. Picking it up, he nearly dropped it as he saw the caller-ID listed the call from Susan Storm. Hitting the accept button, he raised the smart phone to his ear, "Hello?"
"Hey Julian. I know, I know I'm running a little late," an almost familiar voice echoed down the phone line, as Julian heard keys rattling in his front door, "I I know that we have a reservation at Alfredo's for lunch today but you know how much he likes me, he'll hold the reservation for a little bit," she assured him as he heard the click clack of heels on the floor coming closer and closer to his door, ""Besides after working in the lab all morning," the door swung open, "Do you have any idea how long it takes for someone to look this good?" Sue asked hanging up the phone and sticking her tongue out at Julian and twirling around as if modelling on a runway.
Silence filled the apartment, Julian looked at the beautiful woman in front of him who looked something like an older version of his friend. Realizing the phone was still on, he quickly turned it off. Looking back up at her, "I'm sorry...who are you again?"
"Wow, you must really have been out partying hardcore last night," the blonde noted crossing the room to rest the back of her hand against Julian's head, a worried look on her face. "You promised me you'd be more careful last time, what happens if it had been your family who had showed up instead of me to find you like this. At least you don't feel sick." she muttered to herself giving Julian a glare.
"Susan Storm?" he blurted out, not entirely convinced of who she actually was. Were they dead? More memories started flooding back into his head- the first time they met, the Sulian incident. According to Angelica, Xorn had said things would be different now. "Sorry, yeah, partying too hard. Hey, just really quick, do you know Tandy Bowen?" If Sue was alive, perhaps she knew where his girlfriend was!
Sue shook head good naturedly at Julian, "Was the the one you were out with last night then?" The girl tapped a finger against her chin, "Bowen, hmm, fashion company right? Heiress to her mums fashion company, done a bit of modelling at shows or something? Is that the girl we're talking about?"
She didn't remember, his heart sank slightly, "Yeah, her...you aren't acquainted with her, are you?"
"I don't think so? I mean I might have seen her at some fashion show or party but I don't ever remember talking to her," the blonde cocked her head to the side and stared at Julian, "Why the sudden interest in Miss Bowen? Are you saying that I'm not enough and you need more blondes in your life?" she teased before her eyes widen, "Wait a minute, don't tell me all this partying last night was to impress her?"
Julian shook his head, "No, I just...." He waved off the comment and wandered over to the kitchen, suddenly very thirsty. "Sorry, if I'm out of sorts, I just feel like it's been forever since I've seen you." He filled a glass at the sink, getting out his phone and texting Adrienne Frost while he sipped it.
"Seriously, a girl blows off one night of drinks to study and suddenly it's the end of the world" Sue teased crossed the room to stand next to Julian resting her hand gently on his arm, "You're sure you're ok? We can totally blow off lunch and get you to the doctor's if you want."
"No, I'm fine- really," he sighed and shook his head. "It's good to see you, Sue. And you do look good...did you get older?" He winced slightly as he realized what he'd just said, "Sorry, just...pretend I have no idea who I am today, okay?"
"So then, just like every other day then right?" the woman asked repressing a grin, "nothing unusual in that. Don't worry," she reassured her friend patting him on the back, "I've got you covered. Although," the blonde crossed her arms and gave Julian a playful glare, "you know it's not considered good manners to refer to a woman's age."
Julian smiled and nodded, it was good to have someone other than Angelica or Doreen around, even if this version of Sue was older, and sexy as hell. "Good thing I have you around again to correct such inappropriate behavior. Come on, let's get lunch- you're buying. And while we eat, you can tell me all about myself and how awesome I am."
"What would you do without me?" Sue asked as he turned towards the door, "Although..." the blonde turned back to face Julian tapping her lips pensively, "We may need to come up with a few more topics of conversation, that one is going to be a pretty short one." she informed him, a familiar impish grin spreading across her face.
