Angel and Rogue || Kitties
Feb. 13th, 2015 12:49 pmAngel's runaway cat finds Rogue. Then Angel finds them both.
The little kitty mewed as she ran through the mansion, winding in and out of the towering legs of the scary humans above her. The servant had left the door open for the first time while tending to the rodents, giving her a chance to escape.
She rounded a corner - and ran into a wall. Or it might as well have been. In reality it was another one of those humans, towering over her. She looked up and mewed pitifully, hoping the giant would take pity.
There was absolutely nothing a kitten couldn't fix. "Oh mah gawd," Rogue cooed, leaning down to carefully cradle the kitten. "Who are you, li'l one? Where's ya come from?". She reached up and scratched behind the kitten's ears, happy to hear the purring. "Oh you are jus' too gosh darn cute for words! Who's a good kitty? Huh? Are you a good kitty?"
"No, no she's not," Angel huffed as she rounded the corner a few paces behind the runaway cat. "She is not a good kitty. Are you Doughnut?" Doughnut mewed at her servant, and Angel sighed. "I can't stay mad at you, baby. Don't worry." She grinned at Rogue. "Sorry Rogue, I don't know how she got out."
Rogue bent over and rubbed her cheek on Doughnut's fur. "S'alright, Angel," she responded. "Don't bother me none, but Doughnut," Rogue lifted the cat under her arms, and held her to her face, almost nose to nose, "Y'all gotta listen to your mama. Mamas always know best."
She handed the cat back to her friend. Another one in her phone had been ticked off a few days prior. The contact 'Wine' hadn't meant anything to her, but when she finally called the number, she was pleased to see she didn't have an alcohol delivery system in.her phone, but that of a wine buddy. Much better.
Doughnut stared at Rogue for a long moment before giving her a great big yawn, regaling the woman with her wonderful kitty breath. "She seems so impressed," Angel said with a sigh as she took the cat back. "That's really rude you know," she informed Doughnut in the same "serious" voice Rogue had used. "You shouldn't yawn in people's faces when they're trying to tell you something."
If anything, Doughnut was less impressed with Angel.
Rogue simply laughed. "Seriously. Cats hate humans. We are there for their pleasure, and that's it. Ah bet this li'l furball wouldn't even miss ya if'n she had food to eat, huh sweetpea?" Another scratch, and another bored look.
"So what y'all up ta today, cutie? Other than herdin' cats?". This was to Angel, not to Doughnut.
"Ah but eventually the food would run out and then where would she be? She's no hunter let me tell you." Angel laughed, letting Doughnut crawl up onto her shoulder so her hands were free. "Nothing much, kind of been in and out of the suite all day trying to clean and stuff. Guess this one realized she had an escape opportunity because the door was open so much. What about you?"
Rogue perked up. "Ah really been studyin' mah old books, tryin' ta get a feel of mah schoolin'. All them concepts are fallin' into place, an' yet Ah still can't remember what Ah was doin' last month." She shook her head. "If that don't beat all, huh? Memories are a strange thing."
"At least the concepts seem familiar," Angel said with a smile. "Honestly you probably don't want to remember what you were doing last month anyways." Last month sucked anyways.
Rogue gave a wry grin. "At this point, Ah'd anythin' Ah could get mah gtubby li'l mitts on. Ah sometimes get snippets in mah dreams, but nothin' really sticks.". She wrinkled her nose. "Should we get this kitty back where she belongs? Ah'm happy ta help ya clean. Ah need a break from the studyin'."
"Yeah, I'd probably want to remember too if I couldn't." Even she would rather forget what had happened. "Nah man, I did a break from cleaning. Let's do something else." She looked over at Doughnut, who was still mewing at her. "Kittens. Let's go on a field trip and see kittens. But let's not call it a field trip because those usually end badly."
Rogue remembered that much from her past. That museum field trip had been the beginning of that. She shivered. "No, let's stay away from those words. ". She canted her head. "Where do we get ta see kitties? Do ya have some sorta kitty paradise ya know about?"
Angel grinned widely. "It's kind of a paradise. It's actually a shelter that let's you sit and play with the kitties for hours. It's awesome."
"That does sound awesome!". For whatever reason, her powers didn't affect animals, and the idea of taking her gloves off and running it through a cat's fur...irresistable. "Well what are we waitin' for then? Ah could sure go for plenty o' kitty snuggles!"
"Then let's go!" Angel said happily, bouncing. Now she was excited. "To the kitties!"
