The Trio come up with a plan to save Cata!
Stephen leaned his back against a tree, the stones in his hand flicking up and down idly as he looked at Clea and then Bas, "We can't let him find her," he spoke up breaking the silence that had fallen between the three friends. "The only reason she's still here is because of us, we can't let him hunt her down because of that."
"So how do we stop him?" Bas asked, still in dragon form, sitting in a tree with his wings dangling down. His first inclination was to chomp down on Bloodstone with his dragon teeth, but he didn't think they were sharp enough, or his jaws strong enough, to do any major damage.
Clea was looking in the direction of where Cata lived. "Hey Bas. How is your cat form?" Clea looked up at the dragon. "Think you can get mythical cat size?"
Bas followed her gaze with a thoughtful expression, interpreting where she was going with her train of thought. "No worries. About time I did something useful with a car-sized cat shape. But what are you two gonna do while I'm playing bait?"
"Oh, we'll think of something," Stephen noted with a grin, "It'll probably take both of us to convince Cata that she shouldn't start a game of tag with you. Especially if you're in your big cat form."
"Maybe Clea can distract her with something more fun than me," Bas suggested. Clea was always bringing the enormous cat toys and treats.
"And what is more fun than you?" Clea said teasingly as she looked over her shoulder. "I have an idea. However, we've only done it on smaller things to make them smaller. Never on a cat the size of a car." She bit her lip as she paced a bit. "I think we could shrink her. If she is normal cat size, they wouldn't think twice that she was the cat they were chasing."
Stephen bit his lip as he considered the plan, "Do you think we'll be able to turn her back afterwards?" He had ended up destroying too many things as he was trying to learn to control magic, trial and error didn't always work great, although some of the spells he had ended up with had been a pleasant surprise.
"And, do you think you'll be able to shrink her without exploding her?" Bas added in a deadpan voice. His friends didn't have the best track record with not blowing things up.
"When have I ever destroyed or exploded anything?" She blamed Stephen a lot for those. Clea liked to think that her magic was good enough. "Do you two have a brilliant idea? If she is normal cat size, no one will come after her. She'll live a normal life. And we can try to turn her back once Mr. Thinks-highly-of-himself is gone."
"You really want me to list them all?" Stephen asked with a wry smile, "We'd be here for the rest of camp." He shook his head with a smile, "It's not like we'd ever convince her to sit still long enough to evade him if we cast invisibility so I guess shrinking her down, but not blowing her up or shrinking her too far is the best option we got...unless. You think we could turn him into a mouse or weasel or something? Cata would probably enjoy having something new to play with."
"With my magic. I am not talking about normal stuff." Clea thought about it for a moment. "No. I don't know if I can turn a human into a weasel. I am not Professor Moody." The girl nodded her head, "We will shrink her. Bas, ready to play bait?
"Not yet," Bas shook his head. "But soon. First, we need to set a couple traps for Bloodstone and his crew in the woods. I don't want to chance him getting a shot on target and tranq'ing me. How do you feel about magically exploding trees?" he asked Stephen with a sly grin.
"Now that is an idea I can get behind that," Stephen grinned at Bas, "I knew there was a reason I liked you."
