Sue and Julian have lunch in the city to catch up when Julian gets an unpleasant phonecall.
"So, how're things going between you and umm Tandy?" Sue asked innocently swirling her drink around as she purposefully avoided looking at Julian, "I heard a lot of doors swinging open at the wee hours of the night this week," she teased, "you guys are making it hard for a poor innocent like me to get any sleep." It was year 3 of Julian and Sue's self imposed mission to seek out and test all the eating places within New York, as of now they had done, well the places kept opening and closing so it was impossible to keep track of it. But that's what made lunchtime so fun.

"Sorry to disturb you, but when your lover is essentially a Nordic pseudo-demi-god, you let me know how much control you have over the situation," Julian chuckled and set his work-phone down on the table; his other phone remained secured in his pocket.  "See, she does this thing where..."

"Oh oh oh, I think I heard that one," Sue piped up with a mischievous grin, "That was the time she left you squealing right? I hadn't heard you sound like that since the time your trunks slipped off in the pool in front of Jenny Livingstone. I wasn't sure that a human could reach that pitch of squeal before that you know." the blonde noted as she examined her nails trying to hide her grin from Julian.

A slight blush crept over Julian's cheek as he reached for his coffee, pausing before drinking to say something, but coming up at a loss for words.  After a sip, he rolled his eyes, "And when will someone be making you squeal, Miss Storm?  Plenty of eligible bachelors around these days."

"Ah Julian you know better than that, no mere bachelor is going to be enough for me," Sue noted with an exaggerated sigh, "I'm doomed by my own high standards," she lamented dramatically. "Although that doesn't stop my Grandma, she's trying to set me up with an old classmate of yours, Justin Hammer."

His blank look and her gesture to react led to his wrinkling his nose- obviously Hammer was someone that they had come up with, but Julian had barely any memories associated with the man (whether that was due to Frankenberry-Cat, or just the subject being that unmemorable remained to be seen).  "Sorry, had to remind myself who that was...not the most memorable of...jerks."  He covered his gaff with another sip from his coffee mug.

"Great, one more name added to the list of boringly normal people my Grandmother thinks I'd like," Sue slumped in her chair and gave Julian a wry look, "you managed to convince your mum not to worry about you dating a model. What's the trick mister?"

"Ignoring her calls helps," Julian shrugged.  "Truthfully, I have no idea- but I'm glad it worked out."  The curious notion of how Julian had got his family on board with his dating Tandy had never really crossed his mind.  He made a mental note to ask whenever he spoke to his mother again, why she had never really bothered to try and stop the relationship.  Continuing with a smile, "And do you really want to date a model?  I might be able to set you up, if that's all you're looking for...plenty of vapid, arm-candy at Club events."

The blonde shuddered, "Oh god, please not a vapid arm candy, I mean if I refuse to be that for someone then it's kinda hypocritical for me to show up to a Club event with someone like that. Although," she gave Julian a wicked grin, "I am totally telling Tandy that you think models, including her by inference, are vapid arm candy." Well if Julian had no insight for her it looks like she would have to figure out how to handle her grandmother by herself...so basically she was doomed.

Julian chuckled nervously, "Is Tandy still modeling?"  He took another sip of his drink, quite certain that she would not be upset that he'd said something about her workplace-associates...but preparing counter-arguments just in case.  "Only joking, of course I know the answer to that.  Let's get back to your high standards- it might help if you didn't hack your way into every guy you meets life, or did you outgrow that phase?"

"Heeeeey, you promised not to bring that up, I swear you do something three times and you're marked for life, although it has come in useful before hasn't it? Remember James and Stephanie and their plan to humiliate us. You would never have figured that out if I didn't find out that your new girlfriend and my new boyfriend both knew one another and had something planned."

"Fair enough," he shrugged, having no idea what she was referring to.  "Still, there's something to be said for-" his phone began to vibrate on the table; the one used for his day-to-day business, not the one secured in his pocket with contacts that would hop on a jet and save his ass if he called.  Risking Sue's ire he peaked at the phone, "It's the office, don't worry," he sent the call to voicemail.

"No worries," Sue began before the phone went off again, "Maybe you want to get that? Sounds like someone really wants to get a hold of you in the worst way."

With a sigh, Julian picked up the phone, "Julian Keller."  After a beat of silence, his brow furrowed and he began to stand-up, "One more time."  In full business-man mode, Julian motioned for Sue to come with him as he unconsciously nodded, "On my way."  With another sigh he turned to his friend, "We need to head in, there's been a security breach."
