Hope and CJ meet up and everybody is introduced to everyone.

Room service had dropped of several platters of food about an hour after Doug, Hope and Darcy had arrived, along with plates and cutlery. All five of them had filled their plates and found a place around the room where they could sit and eat comfortably.

"How did you meet CJ, Cara?" Hope asked after she had taken a few bites, looking at the new addition to their group curiously. "CJ only told us that you had been working together for a while."

"We first met at Georgetown actually," she said, pausing to take a sip of her water. "The rest, as they say, is history." Cara grinned over at CJ. "Well, history in the making, at least. We still have a lot of work to do."

The smile that CJ gave her friend was part patronizing and part sincere, but entirely practiced.  Social interactions were still difficult for her, "Yes- or at least we hope so.  And you are all friends of Hope from her...school?"

"We're friendly acquaintances, at least," Darcy replied with an easy grin. "I'm a little newer to the school, so I'm still getting to know people."

Doug raised an eyebrow at Hope. Summing up their complicated mentoring-in-shady-practices relationship was not an easy thing.  "Something like that, yeah."

"I am sorry if I am very forward, but what is it exactly what you can do, Cara? I understood you are a psi?" Hope asked rather frankly. Usually she would not be so forward, but this situation called for knowing what skills were available.

"Uh-huh," came Cara's reply as she dabbed at the corners of her mouth with her napkin. "Touch telepathy, to be specific. I can read other people's thoughts and memories, even project things to them, as long as I'm in contact with them that is." She waggled her fingers around the napkin for emphasis as she spoke about her powers.

"And I...profile people," CJ added, without having been asked.  "Or that's what they called it at the Foundation for Genetic Harmony.  I'm told," she sighed, "by Cara," she interjected under her breath- quite happy to have used a murmur correctly, if not entirely politely.  "That I would make an excellent fake psychic, cold reader, con artist.  I can tell when people are lying, what they are thinking, how they will behave...by looking at them."

"Heh."  Doug chuckled.  "I'd be very intrigued by what you'd make of me, then."  He leaned back and quirked an eyebrow somewhat challengingly.  "My power is...something akin to yours, involving pattern recognition."

"You," CJ hesitated as she started to get a clearer picture of the man in her head.  After a beat of silence, "You're trying to trick me by shifting your body language against what you're actually feeling.  You seem skeptical that I...well, we, can be of any help, but you see the need for you to be here."  A slight, uncharacteristic smile quirked the corner of her mouth up, "You're difficult to get a read on, Mister Ramsey."

"Now I am curious to see how you did, CJ." Hope grinned. "I suppose I should mention what I do for Cara's sake." Turning to the other young woman, she explained: "I am an astral projector. My spirit can leave my body and move around, much like a ghost."

Doug nodded and cracked a bit of a smile.  "Not bad at all.  I work pretty hard at being difficult to get a read on, it's useful in my line of work and the circles I run in."  It was about what he expected CJ to get, as he had been intentionally staying closed off.  He was curious as to whether her power was psi-based or something else.  He visibly relaxed, allowing himself to be a bit more open after the impromptu test.

Darcy finished her bite of food before jumping back in. "I'm a pretty open book for someone profiling, probably. That's a really interesting power to have." She thought it'd be particularly useful in political shenanigans. "Did it take you a long time to have good control over it, or was it just like having... extra perception of people in a situation?"

"I've always had, at least according to my parents, hmm, keen observational skills.  When my mutation triggered, they became...much more intense," CJ looked slightly uncomfortable.  "I have control over them now, but it took time and was rather...disconnecting."

"Mm, it can be rough at times," Cara pitched in. "I've gotten to the point where I no longer need to wear gloves all of the time, though I still have to be careful who I touch and where I touch them." She held up one hand and wiggled her fingers a little for emphasis.

"So, now with all that information shared, where do we go from here?"

"We finish our food and then we all get some rest. Tomorrow morning we head to Richmond. Doug has found us a place we can work from and then we have to do some serious research. We need to figure out whom they have posing as and whom exactly they've been targeting." Hope explained.

"Let's go steal a state legislature," Doug announced with a mischievous grin.
