Cara helps Darcy to get to a major lobbyist.
"Hi, National Coalition for the Safety of the Child, how can I direct your call?" the dark haired receptionist held up a finger to Cara as she reached out to punch a button on her phone, "I'll transfer you over right now." The woman turned to face Darcy and Cara, "Hi there, how can I help you?"
"Hi there, we're here to see Mr. Ackles, please," said Cara, all smiles and confidence. "It's Ms. Cara Montgomery and Ms. Darcy Lewis, by the way."
Darcy smiled lightly at the receptionist after the introduction. "We should have an appointment, but we can wait a little if he's got a meeting running long."
"Mr Ackles? I didn't think he had any appointments today, he said he had work to do and shouldn't be disturbed all day. Let me check the calendar." The young woman tapped a few buttons on her keyboard, "There we go, I'm sorry he's got no appointments today. Are you sure you've got the right day?"
"Mmmhmm, I'm positive. He even gave me one of his business cards that he wrote the time on. Where is it, hold on a second..." Cara fished through her purse then whipped out a card, extending it out for the receptionist to inspect. "Aha, here it is."
Once the other woman reached out to take it, Cara made sure to touch her hand as she inspected the card. "See, it's set for today, right now, arranged by him personally."
"Ah...right," the receptionist looked confused for a moment, "Of course you're right, he must have forgotten to put it on the system again," she justified exasperatedly. "Why don't you take a seat? I'll call up to let him know that you're here waiting for him."
"It happens pretty frequently, no worries," Darcy replied as she moved to sit. "Make an appointment on the fly, forget by the time you're back in the office and never add it to the calendar."
"Precisely," agreed Cara. "Thankfully he's got a fantastic assistant to help keep him in line. Never underestimate a woman's touch, after all, right?" She gave the receptionist a wink and sat down next to Darcy, perusing the waiting area's magazine selection while they waited for their appointment.
