The X-Men fight through the opposition on the roof, neutralizing the last of Verde's defenses.
Scott's head snapped around to the left and the right, force beams flying out to knock the burning balls of goo around like the billiard balls Scott was so used to directing, sending them flying over to all angles of the roof. "If anyone wants to try to get close to those machines then Blink and I can provide cover."
"Oui, mon capitaine," Jean-Phillipe replied. He'd managed to weld several pieces of broken machinery together, and he hoisted the impromptu bulwark up on one shoulder. Off of a gesture from Scott, he charged forward, grunting as impacts peppered the front of his shield and heat washed over it. But it was holding, at least momentarily.
"Here we go!" Angel called as she dive bombed, getting close enough to the machines and super heating the air around her, watching with some satisfaction as things started to melt. When in doubt, light it on fire.
Ugh fire. Clarice was still not a fan, but her portals were helping keep the fireballs things away so Angel and Bevatron could get through and actually dismantle this shit. "Do it!" she urged.
A brace of red force beams shot past the portals deflecting the globs of flaming goo away from Jean-Phillipe's path as another smashed into some debris directly in way. "If I ever find out who thought up the goo cannons..." Scott muttered, actually they were an effective weapon the X-man allowed, he should probably talk to Garrison about adding them to the Danger Room protocols.
Jean-Phillipe's shield held, and he and Angel plowed into the last large clump of defenses, allowing them to finally wreak havoc right in the middle of the strongpoint. Weaken this brace, melt that support...and while the automated weaponry was focused in on the two mutants in their midst, it allowed the rest of the team room to move forward and join the process of methodically wrecking every last piece of equipment.
Bang went one machine to Angel's left. Kaboom went another right in front of Angel as she blew it up. Kaplooey went all the machines as Jean-Phillipe and Angel worked through them.
It was satisfying.
Scott stood up and brushed himself off, "That was...exciting," he noted glancing at the wreckage of the machines, "Good job guys, that could have been much worse." The X-man reached up to his ear and activated his radio, "Cyclops here, we're good to go."
