xp_invisible: (Waking up)

It was rare when he finally got a chance to sleep in bed with Sue AND enjoy it. Even though they'd been together for almost a year (and some days, he still couldn't believe he was allowed to kiss her), their varying work and research schedules meant that they were more like two ships in a night.

Sometimes he would make his way to her bed, only to pass out before she arrived. Sometimes, he'd wake up and look at her so peacefully sleeping that he didn't want to wake her before he slunk out to the lab. Sometimes, he'd wake up in the middle of the night to cold feet pressed against the backs of his leg, and wake up to an empty bed. But not today. They'd finally agreed to not only take some time together, but to do it at Sue's personal apartment, away from the Mansion, away from labs, away from any distractions. Too bad Reed had forgotten to turn off his alarm. Opening a bleary eye, he tried desperately to find his phone, but had no idea where it was. Sue, somehow still asleep, was tangled in his limbs, and he had no choice but to just send a stray arm out to dig around. Finding it in the pocket of his jacket, he turned it off and tried to get back to sleep but found he couldn't, so obviously that meant Sue needed to wake up. "Susan," he called out softly, brushing a kiss across the tip of her nose. "Suuuuuuuuusan...."

A pale nose wrinkled, a pale hand reached up to swipe at Reed's face as a pair of blue eyes flicked open to stare at him, "Reed Richards...you better have a really really good reason for waking me up right now. Do you have any idea how long it's been since I actualy managed to have a good night's sleep?" The young woman rolled over, her finger reaching up to prod him in the chest, her finger pressing lighly against his shirt, "And calling me Susan to boot, you're really asking for an ass kicking aren't you? Don't think I won't kick you right out of bed if I have to...someone has to get the coffee going after all."

"I keep telling you to let me invent something. An automaton, anything." Reed wasn't as big on coffee as Sue was. In fact, he'd be content to lay there with her all day. "And you won't kick me out of bed. When was the last time we actually got to enjoy this?" He leaned down and gave her a slow kiss, his hands coming from under to cup her cheek. "Just stay in bed with me. Maybe?" He was not confident that coffee wouldn't win out.

The young woman twisted around till she was facing him, a soft, amused smile tugging at her lips, "Sweetie, I don't mean this in a bad way...but your coffee isn't exactly great." making coffee was all about the science of it, nothing more than chemistry but Reed...if he tried to make coffee would probably end up getting distracted and division a way to use the coffee beans to power a car or something. The blonde tilted her ehad to teh side for a moment before grinning, "If coffee is out...too bad that there isn't someone who could get us a drink of water or something isn't it," there was a look that was best described as impish on hace as she grinned up at Reed.

Reed gave a little chuckle. "Too bad indeed." With one arm still firmly wrapped around her, he let his other one free to find a water bottle, which was easy enough to find in the bedroom.

Handing it to her, he grinned. "Isn't this nice? Why don't we do this often? I miss you." A single eyebrow arched, a look of disbelief Sue had perfected in her time around Reed, "You're really asking that? You? Mr fall asleep in my lab and forget to eat unless someone reminds you? Mr I'd rather work on this experiment than go out to get dinner, we can get take out that's more efficient?" The playful smile dancing around the corners of her lips took much of the sting out of her words as the blonde poked him in the chest with each utteration.

She had a point, and Reed had the good grace to look a little embarrassed. "I'm a terrible boyfriend," he murmured, looking down for a moment. "And you're an excellent girlfriend....even if that is true -- take out is much more efficient, and I'm not a very good cook." He stretched a little, nothing overly unusual. "Maybe we should both make a promise: to make more time for each other. Sometimes, I wonder if we're still together because we've barely had any time to fight."

That was...actually remarkably perceptive for Reed, Sue twisted around, her blue eyes resting on the man's face in something like surprise. "You, honestly you might be onto something there, at least," the young woman paused, sucking in a breath as she let the tension build, "It's something worth experimentation/" A smile pulled at Sue's lips as she smirked, "Reed you have more PhDs than anyone I know, I think you can figure out how to cook, and the rest of it, though if you end up writing a paper on me I swear I'm going to kill you...painfully. Don't think I can't do it."

Reed had to laugh at that. "My next PhD will be in the study of Sue Storm," he said, pressing up against her as he gave her another kiss. "I don't know that it will get me any more grants or research money than I already have, but I'll try. Besides," he added, burying his head into the crook of her neck. "it's a noble study."

A singly arched eyebrow met Reed's proclamation as Sue struggled to maintain a placid face and not burst out laughing. "And be a human test subject to be prodded and poked in a lab? I don't think so Mr Richards. Although, some kinda scientific study explaining how to talk to women might not be the worst thing ever."

There were so many comments he would make if he was another type of man, but he wasn't so he wisely refrained. "I would take that class in a heartbeat," he proclaimed, smiling at her. "Maybe then I wouldn't feel like a tongue tied idiot every time we talk. Or bring up things we never discuss."

Sue rolled over onto her back one hand tucked in behind her head, cushioning it as she stared up at the ceiling. "I mean all you have to do is open your mouth and move your lips," she pointed out playfully. "It's like talking to a peer review board I guess, after a while you get used to it, but you need to do it..besides," she twisted her head around to grin at Reed, "everyone is so differnet no one class could cover it all, you've just got to apply the basic principles to everyone."

"Basic?" Reed laughed. "I think that's the first time I would have heard that word used to describe you. There's no basic principles for Sue Storm -- why can't you accept you are this beautiful, mysterious, amazing woman that meets no standard or guidelines because you surpass them all?" He gave her another kiss on the nose. "You are perfect in so many ways. Sometimes, I wake up wondering how did I ever get so lucky in my life."

Sometimes Sue was unsure if she was worth the sheer level of devotion Reed bestowed on her, although she couldn't deny the fact that it felt pretty good. "I mean....I'm really not all that perfect Reed, seriously. everyone has flaws and skeleton's in their closet." THe last thing she wanted was for her skeleton's to pop up and destroy the man. "I'm really not all that perfect...for example...I really love hogging all the blankets." As she spoke the blonde twisted suddenly, pulling all the blankets covering them around her body to transform herself into her final form...the Sueito."

Reed laughed and tugged on the blankets. "So now we learn the real reason why we never sleep together. There's not enough blankets in the world for Sueito. How lucky you are that I can stretch and make myself into a blanket if need be." He lifted a hand and slowly increased it's size before letting it revert back to normal. Leaning back against the covers, he gave her a soft smile. "I'll go and get your coffee, and I promise -- no distractions." He raised an eyebrow and grinned. "That's for later." Yup, today was going to be a good day.
