Amanda comes rushing to Moira and Nathan's room to talk to Nate, only to find him off to talk to Charles. Moira see's what kind of condition she's in and tries to calm her down but when Amanda tries to dart off to see Nathan (and possibly interrupt things), Moira tries to bring her back into the room. Both are incredibly weak and they fall down easily. Amanda cries, Moira soothes. Very cute. Except for the falling down.

Amanda reached Moira and Nate's suite with no idea how she'd gotten there, no memory of having passed anyone in the halls. The numbness in her face had flared into a burning pain, and in her mind's eye she kept seeing Manuel's face, hearing his words... The crushing need to stop the feeling, to stop feeling anything threatened to overwhelm her again, and she pushed back thoughts of the amulets she'd destroyed, the box Nate had given her. Biting back a sob, she pounded on the door. 'Please be there, please...'

Frowning at the sudden pounding at the door, Moira dropped the papers she had been grading and hurried over. When she wrenched it open, she found herself nearly with an armful of young witch as Amanda nearly toppled in. "Amanda? Wha's wron'?"

"Manuel. I went t' see him. I thought if I could talk t' him, make him see I was here... This fuckin' link's like a hole in me bleedin' head an' I can't make it stop. An' he... he didn't know me, Moira. He thought I was pullin' a prank, that I was tryin' t' hurt him, an' the things he said..." The words came out in a rush, the same as her tears. "Nate... I need Nate, t' make this stop. He said there might be a way an' I've been waitin' for somethin' t' happen but I can't take any more, I can't, you know what I'll end up don' if this doesn't stop soon..."

Soothingly, Moira reached out. "Deep breat's, Amanda, it'll be okay. Nathan's nay 'ere right now, 'e's seein' Charles 'bout this bloody plan o' 'is. An' aye, I know exactly wha' ye'll try t' do if'n this doesnae stop, but I'm watchin' out for ye, lass, remember that." She was worried, really worried. There was this wild look about Amanda that had her teeth on edge.

"I _can't_ wait, I've got t' see him _now_! I nearly... I had some amulets, from before, I'd forgotten they were there, an' then I had 'em in me hand and I wanted to, so fucking badly, but I didn't, I smashed 'em, but I don't know if I can stop meself again." Amanda batted Moira's hands away, turning as if to charge out the door again and down to Xavier's office. "I've got t' do _somethin'_!"

Suddenly Moira reached out and gently, but firmly, caught Amanda's arms. "O' nay ye dinnae," she said, firmly. She had to stop her from running off and either hurting herself or interrupting something that would hurt everyone involved. "Yer goin' t' come inside, 'ave a talk wit' me an' 'ave some tea an' wait. I know 'tis 'ard right now!"

"I don't _want_ any bloody tea an' I'm sick of waitin' an' no-one tellin' me fuck all! He thinks I'm fucking _dead_, Moira, an' it's killin' him!" Amanda managed to twist one arm free, but her strength was fast failing, and she staggered as she tried to free the other one. "Let me fuckin' go!"

"Nay until ye bloody well calm down! We're tellin' ye all we damn well know!" A sudden burst of strength enabled her to reach out and grab Amanda in a bear hug, holding her close to her body. Moira knew this wouldn't last for long. She could feel her legs start to go as she heaved a little and tried to bring the struggling girl into her room. Little sleep and that nasty migraine, plus overworking herself and worry had done some nasty things to her strength and endurance.

Fortunately for Moira, Amanda was neither very heavy, nor very strong at this particular moment. She struggled to get out of Moira's arms, swearing incoherently between the sobs, but achieving little as the doctor managed to finally drag her inside. As they crossed the threshold Amanda's strength left her completely, and she collapsed bonelessly to the floor, her weight dragging Moira with her.

With a curse as she found herself suddenly nearly toppling onto Amanda, Moira shifted enough to land in a heap next to her, arms still holding on. "...ow," she managed, easing her grip from holding back to soothing. Amanda had managed to land partially on top of her legs, so she knew that without trampling Moira, the girl wasn't going anywhere. "'ey, it'll be okay," she assured her, switching back to calming her down.

"How can it?" Amanda managed between sobs. "I'm tryin' but there's this hole where the link should be an' it _hurts_. Why does everythin' have t' fuckin' _hurt_ so much? Maybe I should've just gone back t' Rack – he hurt me too, but I'm used t' that. An' Manuel an' Ange wouldn't've gotten caught up in the whole fuckin' mess."

With some effort, she sat up a little straighter, wincing as some of her joints grumbled in protest after the fall. Slowly, she tugged Amanda back towards her and held her gently. "I know, lass, but it'll go away. Ye jus' 'ave ta trust Nathan an' Charles right now t' 'elp ye out. An' dinnae ever say tha'." Her voice became fierce. "Ye're used ta bein' 'urt, aye, but ye shouldnae 'ave ta anymore."

Exhaustion and Moira's soothing eased Amanda's anguished sobs somewhat, and she lay her head on Moira's shoulder, the rising bruise livid along her cheekbone. "I thought... with Rack dead... it'd get better," she hiccupped. "But Manny... he sounded like him, Moira. He said I was... worthless, same as Rack used to. An' I've been having these dreams... that Pete an' Emma didn't come an' Rack finished the job. I was so scared an' so angry an' I lost it, I took a swing at him."

"Dreams are jus' tha'," Moira murmured, rubbing Amanda's back gently. "Jus' dreams. Damn, love, under all o' tha' ye, an' Angelo, facin' it...verra brave. An' yer nay wort'less, ever. Nay matter wha' anyone tells ye, jus' know tha' yer nay." She winced and took a good look at Amanda's face. "O', Amanda...I'm sorry..."

"It ain't that bad," Amanda murmured, struggling to keep her eyes open. With the adrenaline leaving her system, she was utterly spent, Romany's pendant glowing brightly as it replenished the power she'd used in the shielding spell. "Had lots worse, an' I hit him first. He makes me so angry sometimes..."

"Jus' because ye 'ad lots worse doesnae mean ye need t' 'ave more now," Moira reminded. She couldn't help but notice that she was in peril of having Amanda fall asleep on her and while she normally wouldn't mind, she had an appointment with Charles to keep. "Amanda? Lass? Think ye can stand up? Me leg's are asleep an' if'n yer about ta doze off, ye can crash on me bed."

The girl made vague complaining noises, but managed to untangle herself from Moira and stand, with help. "So bloody tired..." she sighed, leaning on Moira. "Better t' get me t' me room - once I crash I ain't movin' for a while, an' you an' Nate want t' be able t' use yer bed sometime tonight." A faint grin crossed her face.

Laughing, Moira circled the younger girl's waist with an arm, supporting her still-too-light weight. "Ye may just' be a wee bit right wit' tha'. Now, let's get ye in bed, restin', shall we? Nay more wrestlin' yer teachers or friends t' th' ground. Doctor's orders."
