Amanda, Manuel - Wednesday evening
Apr. 28th, 2004 08:58 pmTakes place before this scene. Amanda has magic homework. Manuel wants to play. Who will win? Starring Frank the Iguana.
Manuel was sitting in Amanda's room, waiting for her to return from wherever it is that she had disappeared to. Manuel was bored. Very bored.
Dangerously bored.
And he didn't have his iPod - his headphone jack had developed problems, and his unit was in the hands of one Doctor Henry McCoy for diagnosis and repair. So he took it upon himself to learn a little something more about Amanda.
Specifically, her CD collection.
So he took _all_ of her CDs off their shelves and off of her desk, and piled them onto her bed. He then began to take each CD out, pull the cover booklet, look at it, try to read it as much as he could, then replace it back in the CD sleeve and move onto the next disc.
Humming rather tunelessly under her breath, Amanda made her way back from the third floor, a heap of homework assignments in her arms. There was still a tendency to tire easily, but she'd been deemed well enough to go back to school the next Monday and there was a lot of work to catch up on. And her session with Strange was coming up - he was coming to the school for it again, since no-one was about to believe her when she said she'd be fine to go to New York and back - and he'd been most explicit in what he'd wanted to have prepared, coma or no coma. So her mind was fixed very much on the pile of magic books sitting on her desk, rather than anything else when she opened the door and found Manuel dissecting her CD collection.
"What the bloody hell...?" she asked, more surprised than angry at this stage.
Manuel looks up from reading the liner notes from one of Amanda's Clash CDs. "You listen to a really staggering pile of crap. I was bored." He then scoops all the CDs up into one disorganized pile, picks them all up, and puts them on Amanda's desk. "There. All better now." he says with a leering smile. "You feel strong." he says with a smile. "Want to go get worn out?"
"Well, I like it. You don't have t' listen t' it, so it ain't yer problem." Amanda's tone was definitely Not Friendly as she moved past him to dump her homework on the desk. "An' yer gunna have t' go entertain yerself - you ain't the only one decidin' I'm feelin' better, an' Doc Strange got in first." She reached past him to grab the book she needed from the shelf above her bed.
Manuel grinned and copped a quick feel as Amanda reached above him for the book. "Awww, you _sure_ you don't have time to play a little?" he pouted cutely, bringing up his desires to the link to make sure that Amanda knew what sort of a Mood he was in.
She swatted him across the shoulder with the book - fortunately not one of her spell books, but instead a smaller volume on Eastern mysticism - and plopped herself down on the bed. "Nope," she answered, opening the book on her lap. "An' with you it ain't never 'a little'. Go find yerself someone else t' play with. I want got t' get this done."
Manuel pouted cutely again at Amanda, and even went so far as to get off of her bed. But instead of finding a new playmate, he went over to Frank's basking area, and extended his arm into the cage so that Frank could crawl up his arm and take his perch on his shoulder.
"Do I _have to_?" he whined, grinning as he plopped back down onto her bed and ran a fingertip down her arm. "I'll bet I'm far more entertaining than moldy old Chinese hells..." he said in his Bedroom Voice.
"You probably are, but I doubt Strange will appreciate yer talents as much as I do, an' he's gunna be drillin' me on this stuff. Somehow I don't think he'll take yer ragin' libido as a good reason for me not bein' prepared." Amanda could feel the lust Manuel was radiating down the link, and focussed on her book all the harder. If it had been schoolwork, Manuel might have had a chance of succeeding, but magic was Amanda's passion, and she was enjoying the tutoring, despite her grumblings about the amount of work it entailed. "Seriously, Manny, not now. I'll come by later."
Manuel grumbled, and looked Frank straight in his lizard eye. "She doesn't want us right now. Should we go find a new playmate?"
Frank yawned and stared back at Manuel.
"Hrm. Frank says no, we shouldn't. But he's also whining about being hungry. We all have our hungers, Frank. Ahhh, well, OK, we'll go get you something to eat. Maybe Alison will be in the kitchen. She's just your best friend, isn't she Frank?" he cooed at the lizard.
Frank yawned again.
"OK, OK, we'll go get some food! Sheesh! And no, I doubt very much that there will be girl-lizards there. But we can go check anyway."
Manuel grinned at Amanda, and stuck his face close to hers to steal a kiss. "If you decide that you'd rather play, use the link to come and find me." he grinned.
"Mmm," Amanda said absently, returning the kiss in a distinctly distracted fashion as she turned the page. "Have fun. Don't do anythin' I wouldn't do."
Manuel chortled. "That doesn't rule out much, since I'm no mage." He then took himself and Frank and headed out the door, presumably to the kitchen for the Sating of Hungers.
As the door closed, Amanda looked up briefly from her book. "Boys," she said, shaking her head in amusement, and then returned to her reading again.
