Kyle and Molly do some quick Danger Room training, and Molly gets a first-hand view at Kyle's dumb healing factor antics.

Also they dis Toad a lot.

Molly zipped up her training uniform then pulled her hair into a ponytail and secured it with a hair tie. She hadn't trained in at least a week, maybe more, so she was pretty excited.

"Dude, I am so ready to kick some butt," Molly said with a bright grin as she made her way down the hallway toward the danger room.

She extended her hand for a high five.

"Maybe we can double our finish time this time?"

Kyle returned the high five with one half-taped hand, and then resumed wrapping the tape to protect his knuckles. Healing factor or no, he liked his blood where it belonged, in his body, and not on the weird solid hologram thingies in the Danger Room. "I'm just saying, we should practice the thing where you throw me through the giant robot, because a, it was rad, and two, it was funny as heck to watch in the replay."

Molly's eyes lit up. "Heck yeah!" she said, then made a face. "Still gotta figure out how hard to throw you." At least he could heal quickly.

"Yeah, let's start with throwing me butt or feet first, cause I mean, I gotta be real, going skull first through the robot was not really fun." Kyle said, dragging out the words. "Also I'm pretty sure Gar has sent out full color printouts of me with my ass dangling out of the robot all like, stuck."

Molly burst out laughing. "I have one hanging up in my gym locker. Oh man, that was priceless," she said. She paused. "Okay well...not for you." She grinned sheepishly. "Anyway. Yes. I can do the other way this time."

"Cool." Kyle said, as the Danger Room doors slid open. "And dammit, nobody showed me the pic. I want a copy!"

"Hmm," Molly tapped her chin. "I'll give it to you but you have to work for it. This is an important document. I wouldn't just give it to anyone."

"I just wanna see it!" Kyle whined. "After robots. First, we fight robots." The Danger Room had opened to a familiar scenario that someone had obviously gotten from some sci-fi movie that was almost but not quite The Terminator. Fifty foot robots stomped around an urban landscape, destroying buildings and cars and roads and trees and basically everything.

"Just once I'd like to fight in a Utopia instead of a DYStopia," Molly said, making a face. She quickly paused. "Wait, nevermind. That'd be even creepier."

Popping some caffeinated gum into her mouth, she glanced around. "Okay, so we gonna ambush one or go in all loud and shouty?" "Mols, we are not quiet, us." Kyle said. "Either throw me at the robot, or I'm a jump on it's head from a building."

Molly held up her hands, biting back a giggle in mock offense. "Oh, 'scuse me...I can be quiet just fine, thank you very much. Buuut...I do like loud better," she said with a broad grin, clapping her hands together.

"Maybe we should get closer thou---ohh crap! Nevermind, it saw us," she said, ducking an energy blast from the giant robot's hand from 50 yards away. "HALT, MUTANT," it bellowed, the ground beginning to shake as it made its way toward them. Molly nudged her head over toward the robot. "You ready to fly, Superman?"

"You think Superman ever threw, like, Batman into something?" Kyle asked, before Molly hoisted him by the back of his jacket.

"Superboy and Robin did in the Young Justice cartoon!" Molly said sagely, lifting Kyle off of his feet. "Okay. On the count of three. 1--2--" Molly tossed him before hitting three as another energy blast shot out, sending him directly to the side of the blast closer to the robot's collar bone.

This time, Molly had gotten under Kyle's legs, tossing him feet first. He felt one ankle pop as he crashed into the robot, but it was a nice clean pop, and he could feel the bone knitting painfully back together as he clawed his way up the side of the giant metal head. "Shoot and score!" Kyle bellowed, before clambering around to try to block the robot's eyes with his body.

Meanwhile Molly let out a victory yell then charged toward the robot, hoisting up a car and aiming it directly at the back of the robot's kneecaps to get it to lose balance.

"Wildchild get ready to timber!"

Kyle's descent was extremely less than graceful. He had managed to cover the robot's eyes, making a clear path for Molly to throw the car but with a still healing ankle, as it fell, he slipped off. He managed to break his fall with a dumpster - which was really turning into a pattern for him, and poked his head out a moment later. "4 out of 10, did not stick the landing. Ow."

Molly winced. "Ooof. That looked painful. Uh--Do you wanna pause?" she yelled, keeping her eye on the robot. It had collided only a few moments before, causing the concrete to crack in a series of ripples and making the world shudder. "Depends, you wanna finish and turn this into what to do with a busted teammate?" Kyle pulled himself half out of the dumpster to show a hand at the wrong angle. "I mean it's a valid scenario, but I gotta set this or I'm gonna get the scary face from one of the docs when they have to re-break it later."

"Yeaaaah I don't wanna have Laurie yell at me," Molly said with a wince and a laugh, then held up her hands. "Computer---" The world around them, full of sparks and smoke from the battle suddenly froze. "End program." Everything evaporated, and Molly quickened her pace toward Kyle, ready to catch him now that the dumpster was no more. "So uh---Can I watch you reset? It's gross, but cool."

"Sure." Kyle sat on the bare floor, and crossed his legs. "Seriously, my healing factor is so dumb sometimes." He gripped the bad wrist with his good hand, and gave one fast yank. It popped, he swore, and then he put his head between his legs. "Fuck, right up the carpal nerve."

Plopping down beside him, Molly made a face that lingered for a while, one wide eyed and a little disgusted but also curious and mesmerized. "Ew," she said, her mouth agape as she rested her chin in her hand.

"So why do you gotta do that?"

"Same reason anyone does, if they don't get a bone set. Mine just moves so fast that if I'm not trying to heal a bunch of stuff, I either gotta sprint right to the infirmary, or fix it myself, or deal with double pain. You. Okay, not ... you." Kyle pointed to Molly with his good hand. "But people who can actually get hurt." He grinned. "Same thing, only it's most people have a couple days. I've got a couple hours."

"Or else it heals up wrong?" Molly said, wincing. "That sucks."

She tilted her head, then added awkwardly. "Do you uh....need any help now? I can um...hold bones or something?"

"Nah, it's just my hand." He showed Molly the hand, the bruising was already going purple and would clear to greenish yellow probably before he was done his post-Danger Room shower. "Anything bigger, yeah, help is nice, cause doing it myself, sometimes I just can't make myself hurt that much. I hadda set my own jaw once, that was super gross."

"Oof," Molly said with a laugh. "I am so glad I haven't had lunch cause I did not think we were gonna be talking today. How'd that happen? Did you fight a bear or something?"

"Nah, I had to fight Toad, I was totally outmatched so I talked him into being super pissed off so he'd leave himself open. He kicked me in the face, but I kicked him in the knee. I can fight with a broken jaw, but you can't fight with a busted knee." Kyle said, grinning. "I threw up like. Everything I'd eaten that day."

"Who's Toad again?" Molly said thoughtfully. "Please tell me he looks like a toad."

"One of Magneto's fuckoffs. Crazy muscular legs, long ass tongue, kinda yellow green. He's like. I mean he's about as much a toad as, I dunno, I am a fox? I saw him eat a bug though." Kyle answered - lied, really, he had never seen Toad eat a bug, he just wanted to dunk on the guy.

Molly squinted. "Wait--is he one of the dudes from the battle scenarios? Get outta town!" she said, whacking Kyle against the arm with a big laugh. "He's real? I thought somebody just made him up from a movie or something. I TOTALLY gotta meet him!"

She shrugged. "I uh...kinda forgot some of the names of the people we fight in the scenarios so I just make up names for them since I'm too embarrassed to ask."

"Well, some of 'em aren't real. " Kyle said, shrugging. "But I mean, see what you do is, you make up really insulting names for them, and then if they are real, you just use those. I mean, yeah, Toad's feelings are gonna get hurt if you call him Sad Koopa but I mean, he's evil. Hurt his feelings."

Molly started mad giggling. "Sad Koopa. Oh My God, I'm stealing that," she said, bowling over to lay on her side from where they were sitting.

"I have like ten names for Loki. Such a jerkwad."

"Yo, I haven't even." Kyle started, then shook out his hand. "Oh man, pins and needles. Anyway. I haven't even met that dude and I have at least two. Even if I never use them, it's good to have them in my head. I mean, take people seriously, Toad broke my jaw, but also like. Sometimes having a good insult in reserve gives you that like, second for them to be too mad to remember to duck or something."

Molly grinned. "Exactly. Plus it's fun."

:"And man, sometimes in this world, you gotta just tell a guy he hair is booger colored." Kyle agreed. "Toad's hair is totes booger colored."
