Clarice and Dragoness have a rematch.
The Blackbird was empty as the last X-Man dropped through one of her portals and now it was entirely Blink's chance to focus on business. It wasn't specifically chosen for her to target the mutant who'd hit her last time, but as soon as she'd seen Dragoness in the air, she'd made her decision.
Revenge was needed. Perhaps unwise as plenty of action movies demonstrated, making rash decisions or without thinking through the consequences, but well. Revenge was still oh, so sweet. And needed.
Dragoness cackled as she came face to face with the purple woman again. "Aww, my favorite is back to play!" Her wings fluttered lightly to maintain altitude, hand already directing an electric blast at the other woman as she moved through the air.
" Awww, same tricks?" Clarice asked, tossing a handful of projectiles at her opponent through a portal. Unlike her usual coins though, these were rubber pellets, to counter the electricity. She also set them to hit from behind, because playing fair was for children.
Dragoness hissed as the rubber pellets pelted her from behind. "Ooh, new tricks? For ME? You shouldn't have!" Not having the illusions was a pain, but she wouldn't make it easy on the purple woman. She flew a bit to the side, channeling her electric blasts and sending them out in short, wide bursts.
Multiple portals sprang up, not just for Clarice to port through herself, but to use as shields to catch the blasts, sending them, below Dragoness this time, to rise up and hit her through her feet. She was likely immune to her own blasts, at least others with similar powers were, but sending them back at least was disorienting.
She did some unwanted dancing as she was attacked by her own blasts. Damn, the purple woman was actually on her game this time. Her only hope of winning would be her opponent tiring out from all those portals or a few lucky shots with her flares. Dragoness pushed backwards in the air, sending out random super-charged blasts that clipped or connected with some of the portals to create eye-searingly bright pyrotechnic flares.
"Oh, it's on now, bitch," Clarice murmured, sending spike portals through round portals. It was something she had only recently thought of and took a lot of concentration, but she could do a few at a time with reasonable accuracy and safety. It sent one portal through the other to another destination, the second portal opening to somewhere else entirely. One of the spikes hit Dragoness, smoothly removing a chunk of thigh. Clarice wasn't trying to kill her, but wounding was much more difficult than killing with her powers.
Dragoness let out a screech of fury as she was clipped, letting out a series of sharp electric bolts as she started to retreat. The blood running down her leg was making her woozy, so once she judged herself at a safe enough distance she turned, wings propelling her farther away from the fight and to relative safety.
Clarice had no interest in pursuit, as far as she was concerned, this was fine. Live to fight another day. Make Dragoness think twice before taking her on again. Teleporting herself in a series of convoluted ports designed to slow her momentum, she returned to the battle to lend assistance to others.
