A mini, of Artie and Felicia enjoying the sun
The island was mostly resort but, for the most part, wasn't overly resortified. The exception was the area immediately in front, with the kabana lounges and beachside umbrellas.
Artie was stretched out on one of them, shorts, t-shirt and wide brimmed sun hat. His kindle was there but he'd put it to one side to just stare out over the view. Sea. White sand. Breakers in the distance, and the roar of surf on the other side of the reef.
A chair down, Felicia was half snoozing in the warm air, giving a sleepy smile to a member of the staff who adjusted her umbrella to keep her out of the sun as the day progressed, and dropped off a glass of cucumber water.
Artie was so far her favourite afternoon buddy; no small talk needed, and they’d grab each other drinks while they were up if someone hadn’t been by in a while. So, she was probably breaking some unspoken rule when she tilted her head to more easily look over at him. “All good?”
Artie nodded lazily and gave her a thumbs up. He'd have to sit to sign, so he projected text instead, letting it hang in the air in front of her face. Small enough not to draw attention or be easily seen from any distance but visible to Fi. "Just enjoying the warmth. It was 36 degrees when I got on the damn plane and it's going to be even worse when we go home."
“Hear hear,” Felicia agreed, giving a double thumbs up in return as she slumped further into her lounger. “Enjoy it while it lasts. Reality is a future problem.”
A snowman appeared in front of Fi, melting. Artie let it vanish and sat up. His drink was empty. So was hers. He wandered over to the bar and returned a few minutes later with a tray - refills and large glasses of water. "I just want you to know that I could chat but I'm on vacation and it's time for smooth brain and no thoughts only vibes." He let the text drift past her and settled Fi's drinks on her table, returning to his lounger with his own.
Felicia laughed, watching him settle in with a content wiggle of her own as she used the elaborate straw to drink from her water. "Vibes," she agreed, leaning back and closing her eyes.
