Jane and Bobby at Disneyland. They talk about powers, family, and are just generally cute.

Jane waved at the retreating figures of their friends as they got back in line for the Carousel. It had been cute and interesting, but they only had so much time here and she wanted to see EVERYTHING. They would meet up again with the others later. For now, it was just her and Bobby, alone amidst a crowd of people in the Magic Kingdom. She glanced at him sidelong, and then slipped her hand into his, grinning. "So, Bobby, what should we do next? The Matterhorn? The Mad Tea Party? Or maybe go to a different land? We haven't been to Tomorrowland yet..."

"Whatever you want to do is fine with me," Bobby replied, smiling a bit dazedly. He forced his eyes to remain on her face, despite the fact that they wanted to drop lower. She really did look fantastic in a bikini...

Jane took a moment to think. The Matterhorn Bobsleds sounded good, because they would be cold, right? It really was hot here, which was why she was wearing her new bikini and a simple wrap-around skirt instead of pants and a shirt. Lorna and Alison had been right about her outfit -- she could tell that Bobby liked it. His looks made her feel all warm and melty. "I'd like to try the Matterhorn," she said decisively. They started walking towards the big, fake white mountain and got in line. "Are you glad you came?" she asked Bobby as they stood in line.

"To Cali? Yeah...thanks for the invite." He grinned, his full attention focused on her despite the milling crowds of people all around.

Jane smiled back at him. "You should really thank Lorna and Alison. It was Lorna's idea and Alison's enthusiasm that got us here. Plus, they said I should invite someone and, well, I thought of you... They wanted to come because of the weather. It's funny that they invited me, since I don't really feel the cold." She shrugged.

"Oh, I'll thank them later," Bobby assured her, a wry tone to his voice. "But you're the one that thought to invite me, so I'm thanking you, too." He tilted his head, looking at her curiously. "You don't feel the cold? Though I personally think California has other reasons to merit a visit."

"Not really. Well, I feel it, it just doesn't seem to matter. I think it's part of my mutation. Dr. McCoy said that I always seem to have a bit of my cloud-form all around me, a thin layer over my skin, and that it insulates me. He said that he was gratified to be able to explain that much about my power, since the rest of it defies physics in new and interesting ways." She grinned at the memory of her first day at Xavier's, when the fuzzy doctor had been examining her. "He grumbled about how everyone around there was always going against the laws of nature, but I think that he secretly enjoys it."

"I do too." Bobby laughed, shifting closer to her as subtly as he could. And speaking of the heat...he dropped his own body temperature by several degrees to compensate for the hot day, holding it for a few seconds before letting it slowly start to climb again. "I think he'd be bored silly if he didn't have us to try to figure out."

She nodded. "He's a good teacher, too. I'm really learning a lot in his computer class. There's so much more I want to learn, though. So much I don't know!" Jane thought for a moment. "Speaking of not knowing things, I don't know all that much about your background. Where do you come from, Bobby Drake?"

"Oh, just a normal family. Grew up in Long Island." Bobby's smile grew slightly strained. "I have a little brother. Ronnie."

"How wonderful!" Jane closed her eyes and tried to imagine what it must be to have a 'normal' family. She pictured something out of a television show since she had nothing else to base her image on. "Is Ronnie a mutant, too?" she asked, opening her eyes and looking at him.

Bobby let out a sharp, humorless laugh. "Ronnie? Nah. Just a normal kid. Mom'd probably have a heart attack if she had to cope with both of us being mutants."

"Oh." Jane heard the bitterness in his voice and squeezed his hand. They were silent for a bit as they shuffled forwards in line. She suddenly hugged him. "I'm glad you're a mutant," she whispered into his ear, "because if you weren't, I never would have met you."

A flash of cold ran over Bobby's body as he hesitantly wrapped his arms around her, returning the hug. "...Thanks," he whispered back after a moment, mentally cursing himself as an idiot for not being able to come up with something witty and charming to say in reply to that. Yup. You're really smooth, Drake. No wonder you're such a hit with the ladies.

"Anytime, Bobby," she said. "Oh look, we're almost there!" They shuffled forward a few more feet and were finally at the front of the line. Bobby got in the bobsled first and then Jane sat down in front of him. "Hold on to me tight so I don't fly out!" She laughed as the sled started to move.

Bobby wrapped his arms around her, the feeling of his arms pressing against her bare midriff, warm from the summer sun, sending his stomach into nervous somersaults. He tried to concentrate on the ride, and not on the smell of her hair, clean and sweet and strawberry scented.

Jane screamed delightedly as they went down the first bit, thrilled at the feeling of speed the ride gave her. She was also thrilled at the contact she had with Bobby. This was definitely a good ride. It was over way too soon, though, and she felt pumped as they jumped out of their bobsled. "That was great!" She laughed and started pulling Bobby towards the Mad Tea Party ride, which was right next to the Matterhorn and didn't have a long line at all. "This one next!"
