Just after Angelo and Jane's conversation. Jane is in need of comfort, and Bobby's only too happy to provide it. Just fluffiness, really.

Jane walked slowly down the corridor, wiping tears from her eyes as she went. It just hurt so much. Angelo had so many scars. How could the world be so cruel? Why him? He was so sweet and nice. That shouldn't happen to people. Jane found herself standing outside Bobby's door. That was good. Bobby would comfort her, she was sure of it. And Jane needed comforting right now. Her heart felt so heavy, like it was weighed down with all the sorrow of the world. She knocked on his door.

Bobby was sitting at his desk, working on writing up his final exam for his students, but at the knock on his door, he shot out of his chair, grateful for an interruption, any interruption. He pulled the door open, smiling, but it quickly faded as he saw Jane's damp, sad face. "Hey...what's wrong?" he asked, gesturing her into his room.

Jane burst into tears again. "People hurt. I don't like my friends hurting. I didn't know..."

Bobby pulled her into a hug, trying to calm her. "Shhh...it's okay. Just be there for them." He decided right then and there that she would never hear about what happened to him at the hands of the FoH, if it would upset her this much.

"I will be. I want to help, but I don't know how." She hugged him back, sighing as she leaned against his chest. "It hurts to know that this world is so hurtful."

"...I know. Sometimes all you can do is help people pick up the pieces, after bad things happen to them." Bobby stroked her hair slowly, comfortingly, and added quietly, "And you'll be good at doing that, I think."

"I want to be. I want to help people. But I'm no good at knowing the right word. I don't understand enough." Jane was comforted by his presence, his gentle touches, and she started to relax into his embrace. "I wish... I wish there was more I could do."

Bobby smiled softly and placed a light kiss on Jane's forehead. "You do a lot. More than most people, even. Because you care. Sometimes, that's all people need, is to know that someone cares about their pain."

Jane snuggled against Bobby. "I hope so, because that's all I can do. I'll keep on doing it, too, even though caring hurts. Because the alternative is unthinkable."

Bobby nodded and then whispered, "You're really amazing, Jane. You know that?" He gave her a warm smile.

Jane blushed and said, "You're amazing, too, Bobby." She reached her hand up to caress his face, returning his smile. "I'm glad you're here, with me," she murmured.

Bobby grinned and held her tightly. "So am I."

Also, another short log from California. Sunday evening on the beach. Sunset, romance, and their first kiss.

"That was a good dinner," Jane said to Bobby as they walked down to the beach from the restaurant they'd just eaten at. "Lorna really knows her stuff, I'm glad she recommended it to us. Actually, I'm grateful to her and Alison for this entire trip. It's been so wonderful!" They'd spent the morning and afternoon at Disneyland until they'd become exhaused, so Bobby had suggested some dinner together and the beach. It had been a very good idea. The sun was just now setting and it was beautiful.

"It has," Bobby agreed quietly. He let go of Jane's hand, wrapping his arm around her waist to pull her closer as they strolled along the shoreline. Gathering his courage, he added in a whisper, "And you've been the best part."

Jane blushed. His words and how close they were to each other made her feel all smooshy and warm inside. She liked it. She liked him. A lot. "Ditto. I'm glad you came with us, Bobby."

"So'm I." Bobby stopped, turning to face her and stroking a fingertip down her cheek. "This has been the best weekend I've had in a long time." The setting sun behind her turned her hair into a brilliant golden halo around her head, which Bobby found incredibly appropriate.

"I think that this has been the best weekend of my entire life, Bobby, and a lot of that is because of you." She brought her hand up his, holding his hand still against her cheek, reveling in the warmth of his body next to hers. "You make me happy."

"You make me happy, too." Bobby smiled and licked his lips nervously, stroking his thumb lightly across her bottom lip. "Jane? Can I...may I kiss you?" he finally got the courage to ask, though whether it was his mother's breeding or the results of his last kiss that prompted him to even ask first, he wasn't really sure. Nor did he care, at that point.

Jane gazed at Bobby. She'd never been kissed before, that she could recall. It was thrilling to think that he wanted to kiss her, and a tiny bit scary, too. But she wanted it. Of that, she had no doubts. "Yes. Please."

Bobby grinned nervously and leaned in, his eyes drifting closed as his lips met hers, hand still cradling her cheek. First kisses should be with eyes closed, he felt. He slowly started moving his mouth against hers, breathing in the scent of her that had been teasing him all day.

His lips were gentle against hers. She put both her hands around his back to bring him closer to her. Jane closed her eyes and just felt him. It was wonderful.

Bobby's mouth lingered against hers for another minute, before he reluctantly pulled back. "We'd better catch up to the others," he murmured, leaning his forehead against hers. "Al and Lorna are going to be smug enough, as it is." He grinned, thinking of the good-natured ribbing and gloating he was going to have to endure at their hands for the next little while. Totally worth it.

Jane smiled at him. "Okay." She leaned forward and have him one more quick kiss -- she couldn't resist -- before linking her arms with his. This truly had been the best weekend of her life.
