April finds Kane and the wolf and most importantly, the new apron.

April had filled her plate with sides, and now she was standing in the short line for the grill when she heard a snurfle nearby. Thinking it was Sharon trying to be stealthy, her head swiveled to the side, locking onto the face of the wolf she'd seen at Kane's side. "Oh hello, you're much, much taller up close," she said, sticking her plate to one hand so she could hold the other out politely, palm up.

The wolf did a brief dance, ignoring her hand to extend his nose at her plate.

"No sir, that's people food," she scolded with the ease of someone used to being around canines. "But I will see if there's meat safe for you at the grill. How's that sound?" She turned to the grill, smiling at Garrison. "Three hot dogs for me, please. And is there anything your wolf can eat? If so, a piece or two of that, too."

"The wolf is not to be trusted. And he's already eaten." He said at the wolf, who pointedly ignored him and nudged April. "Here's a couple of raw hamburger patties. Don't trust him."

"Some of us are always hungry, he fits right in. I just can't give him a protein shake, probably." She took the hamburger patties on a separate plate. "You want me to watch him for a bit, maybe see if he'll do some running? I know he's not a dog, but he probably needs exercise too, right?"

"He'll more likely make you run. He has a mind of his own and... yeah, have some fun. He likes to meet people."

"Good thing I've got a lot of energy, then. You guarding the grill all day, or going to be social at some point? I need to know when to get your wolf back."

"He'll tell you. Believe me, I've stopped trying to control him." Kane grinned. "I'm on the boring grill. I provide cheeseburgers, hot dogs, sausage, and BBQ chicken. The one over there that looks like a spaceship and has six people arguing around it is supposed to make 24 hour smoked brisket, artesanal pulled pork, and a whole pig or something."

"No thanks, I'm a New Yorker through and through. You're not gonna catch me arguing with grill people about actual barbecue." April broke off part of the raw hamburger and knelt enough to hold it flat in her hand as an offering to the wolf. "Maybe pizza. And even then only half-heartedly. Nobody needs to see me rage out over something stupid like that, and egging people on gets boring."

"See, that's the whole key to doing the boring grilling. Everyone eventually comes to talk to you if you don't want to listen to thirty minutes about the difference between Kansas City and Texas barbeque and just want a damn cheeseburger. Then you come to me, the plain damn cheeseburger. Instantly social, eh?"

"Uh huh." April gave him a dubious look. "That's one way to do it, I suppose. And it limits interactions when there's a line. Clever."

"Now you're getting it. The art of hiding in plain sight while wearing a ridiculous apron and listening to The Beaches." He said, tapping the volume on his phone down a notch.

"Are you really able to hide while wearing a "CANADAD" apron? It suits you. You're giving me strong dad at the grill vibes, A plus job. All you need are some arguably bad puns and maybe shouting at the kids for running too close to the pool or the food."

"Ah, but see, I'm CANADAD. CANADAD doesn't argue about running too close to the pool because CANADAD is the cool not-cool dad. He's the one that lets you have one beer at 16 with your burger. He's the one that stops drunk Uncle AMERIDAD from making inappropriate comments about you and your teenage friends in their bikinis."

"Can't relate, I had the cop dad." Barking caught her attention, and she zeroed in on Boris with Illyana and Clint. "You wanna go make some friends, wolf-buddy? I'll bring him back in a little bit, okay? Gonna introduce him to my little man."

"... I'd just like to let you know that I killed at least six highly inappropriate responses to that." He said and puffed out his chest. "Because I'm CANADAD!"
