Jay bothers Paige..

Maybe he was being avoidant, what with going between staying outside for hours on end then holding himself up in his room to sleep, but other than that one purple handyman everyone here seemed just real... Keen. And keen was a good thing, but Jay's hardly been having the energy to do much more than take walks (being grounded was the worst) and sleep, so when he saw a mess of folks going in and out the front of the building be decided to go around back and fly up to Paige's window a moment. (What Dr. Voght and Worthington didn't know wouldn't hurt them none).

He knocked on her window.

Paige was sitting on her bed, the only clean surface in the whole room, scrolling through the Excel sheet she had set up as her planner. At the knock on the window, she jumped.

“Jay! What are you doing out there? It’s freezing!” She started making her way over to the window, but it was slow going as she had to move piles of books, clothes, and other things out of her way as she went.

Thankfully the window has a ledge he could balance on and didn't have to try to catch the wind right to hover while Paige got the window open.

"I were already outside," he explained. "Jes' didn't wanna go through the front hall. Not sure how you managed with all the folks at your college all the time."

“Ah yeah, because flying all the way around the mansion is so much easier than walking down the hallway,” Paige said teasingly as she moved the last pile of stuff away from the window. She did get it a little though. People here were very friendly and really loved to talk. It could be exhausting.

She opened it and stepped away to give Jay room to climb in. “Just looking for a shortcut to your room, or did you want to talk about something?”

Jay has to tuck his wings in get through the window but he had some experience in climbing through windows. Sometimes when Julia's roommate was out- but he didn't want to think about that.

He moved to sit in the one spot not covered in mess- the spot Paige had been sitting on in her bed. "Can't I want to spend time with my big sister now that you're not so far?"

“Of course you can,” Paige aside, pushing some laundry off the bed and sitting next to Jay. “I think I have some snacks in one of the drawers in the desk if you want. How are you holding up?"

"I'm alright." It was possibly the worst lie Jay had ever told. "When's yer schoolin' start again?" he deflected.

“The 16th. Weirdly, it’s a Tuesday.” She didn’t push. Jay needed his space and the fact that he was out and not closed up in his room was a good sign, even if he was avoiding people who weren’t her.

"You ever need someone to type for you or to read the things for you, just so long as I don't gotta understand it and you spell the weirder words out for me," he offered, reaching for her.

It was strange to be the baby here but. He'd take advantage of it for a hug from Paige.

Paige hugged him back, good and tight. “‘Course. The minute my eyes get tired or my fingers get sore, I’m coming straight to you. I’ll even teach you how to pronounce all the technical terms.”

"People here were very friendly and really loved to talk. It could be exhausting."

I felt this in my introvert's soul.
