Backdated to April 29Jay and Warren have their monthly wrap up meeting and talk about Warren Cares.

Jay actually didn't often see Warren when he did work at the office, but there was a meeting scheduled to go over the end of the month reports. He even had a speech outline written out for Warren Cares's reveal of plans to build a clinic in District X. He knocked on Warren's office door before walking in, knowing he was already scheduled.

Warren looked at the door and frowned for a bit. The one day Leah needed a 'family day' for her supposed 'family' and 'children' and other things, and he didn't even have a back up because how dare she ever take a day off..... and now he was supposed to open his own door like a peon? Truly this was the most Monday of all Mondays.

He groaned, got up to his feet and walked the long, painful walk to the door before opening it and sighing. "Oh. It's you. I forgot you existed again. Come in, I guess." And without looking behind, he walked to his set of couches, away from his desk and flopped down, legs stretched out, and his eyes closed. "Did we need to talk? Was it about those pants? I thought I told you to go shopping."

Jay looked down at his pants, trying to figure out what was wrong with khakis before he decided to just barrel through Warren's... Warren-ness and into the actual business. "We've got a meeting scheduled for today, Warren, about your charities." He pulled out the paperwork that needed Warren's X on the line, and then the speech. "What we especially gotta talk about though is your speech to present the clinic to the Warren Cares heads, because apparently for some damn reason what they think seems to matter. But more importantly is pickin' out a spot for the clinic. I got some in mind, but you never gave us a budget for a spot and everywhere is so damn expensive. I need a little more detail here."

"Oh right, you're my 1 o'clock." With a groan, he sat up, and grabbed for the papers, looking through them with a bored expression. It was a lot harder to give away money than he'd expected, and the fact that he even needed a board was so annoying. "I didn't give you a budget because I thought you'd assume I own multiple buildings and we'd fix one up for it, but whatever, we both know that infrastructure is the majority of the overhead anyways, so pick somewhere. Make a decision like you did with your hair. Only better."

And then he glanced at the speech. "Wait, why am I thanking people for taking my money? Shouldn't they be thanking me? I usually just stand there and look fabulous, why do I need words now?"

Maybe Jay should have assumed Warren already owned multiple properties, but the properties that he was already aware of in District X hadn't been what the clinic needed. First floor access had been a big need. He was glad to have full permission to do what he needed and completely ignored what Warren said about his hair. He knew he could use a haircut.

"Yer being polite. You gotta thank them for giving you the opportunity to do good." Jay gave Warren a hard stare. "It's the right think to do, you gotta be humble. And this is giving you the opportunity to do good and show you care."

"Humble is a word in the dictionary. It doesn't mean much to me when I'm not humble. Wouldn't that be insincere of me to try to be humble? You don't want me to be insincere do you?" This was a genuine question. "I like being authentic to myself, and I am authentically a prick."

"I absolutely want you to be insincere." Jay said, not wanting to beat around the bush when he had a feeling that Warren wouldn't get anything else he was saying. "If you can't actually feel grateful that you have this opportunity to be a good man I want you to be insincere and try to pretend that you're a better person than you are."

And that worked. "Oh, I can do that. I'm actually really good at pretending those things." He flashed a smile and cleared his throat. There was a shift in everything: his voice, his body language, his eyes. If this was your first time meeting Warren, you'd think he was the opposite of who he was. "Esteemed guests, it is not often that I receive the opportunity to truly give back to a community. Most funding comes with requirements, with proposals -- things I can appreciate on this side of my world, but for my charitable ambitions, it does nothing but inhibit. For that reason alone, I am grateful and honoured to be in this position today: assisting with this much-needed clinic to provide barrier-free services for those that have been ignored and pushed to the sidelines of society. Well. No longer."

He dropped his hands down and reclined again on the sofa, back in chilling mode. "See? Didn't you just want to hug me and cry for joy?"

It was eerie how good Warren was at acting like a normal human being. If you didn't know him or work with him you would have no idea how... out of touch he was. Jay ruffled his wings slightly. It was kind of like watching someone be possessed. "You shoulda been on the stage," Jay mumbled under his breath and shook his head at Warren's display.

"That's exactly what you need to do, but if you actually internalized some of what you're sayin that'd be well and good too," he said, addressing Warren directly.

"But that's why I pay you. You care, and you do good work apparently, so why do I need to take that on?" This conversation was boring him. "And for the record -- I do know you're doing well. I've gotten some great feedback from the district. Good job. Want more money?"

Jay looked up to the sky, mumbling "Lord help him," under his breath before turning back to Warren.

"No, I do not want more money. I hardly know what t'do with what you pay me already. And the reason you should care is because it's good for you. It'll make ya a better person in the long run."

But, baby steps. Maybe he could get Warren to be more understanding of these things slowly. He didn't have much of a choice anyways.

He handed Warren the paperwork. "Jes'... Need your signature so I can pick out a spot for the clinic too, before anything else. Yer charity manager is a real skinflint sometimes."

Warren took the papers, and without really looking at it, signed the paperwork. At the end of the day, it was all a write-off, and that meant it was an accountant's job to figure all this out. "There we go. Anything else or we done?"

"One last thing, if'n you don't mind. I don't want to be cc'ed in your sex survey emails no more." Jay made a face. "I just feel like that's private and I don't need to be knowing about it."

"When you're this rich, nothing is private, but sure, whatever, I don't care." Warren stretched. "Are we done now? I think I want to take a nap."

"That's all from me," Jay said and headed out.
