Backdated to April 14 Mel and Shatterstar talk about their experiences in Murderworld- sort of.

Shatterstar didn't have as perfect if a memory for Arthur's romantic comedies, but he recognized the dialogue enough to know that it was in fact just one of Arthur's movies and not the man himself when he heard his voice in the rec room. Shatterstar popped in and stood, crossed arms, behind the couch.

He vaguely recognized the girl watching the movie as having been part of the Arcade kidnapping.

Mel felt his presence behind her, turning to greet whoever had entered the rec room, and did a double take. She had never seen Shatterstar up close before, and the only word that struck her to describe him was beautiful. All that hair. She was totally envious.

“Oh, um- hi! I’m Mel.” She scooted over on the couch just in case he wanted to sit down.

He nodded to her, moving slightly closer to the couch, but didn't move to sit. "I know," Shatterstar said. "You introduced yourself at the VR before that Arcade person kidnapped us all." He paused, not able to remember if he had actually introduced himself before. "I'm Shatterstar." And then. "You have good taste."

“Sorry, I kinda…” tried her best the block out that whole day? “Nice to meet ya again, at any rate.”

She nodded, glancing back at the screen. “S’one of my favorites. I like that there’s some action in with the romance”

Shatterstar couldn't block the day out, or Jessie's scared face, no matter how he tried.

"I haven't seen this one enough," he told her as he looked back at the screen, like it was a confession. "I don't remember everything."

“Yer welcome to stay an’ watch. I can start it over if you’d like.” She’d seen this movie so many times she could practically recite it. It was on more for distraction that actual viewing.

Shatterstar shook his head, still standing behind the couch instead of sitting on it for a minute or so before interrupting the film. After all, he hadn't really had a chance to talk to anyone else about the Arcade experience. It seemed too personal to talk to with his friends about. Much easier to talk to someone he didn't know well. "Were you in a video game too?"

Mel startled a bit at that. She hadn’t really talked to anyone except Marius about it, and wasn’t expecting so blunt a question. “Er, yeah. Super Smash Brothers I think it’s called? Mario’s a dick.” Turning to face him better, she asked back “You?”

"One of the Fallout games," Shatterstar said, leaning a little on the couch to seem more conversational. He didn't look at Mel. "I wasn't sure if everyone got out in one."

She had no idea what Fallout was, but based on the title and Shatterstar’s expression, Mel guessed it was likely a lot worse than punching at Nintendo characters. “Ah..” It trailed off and an awkward silence lingered.

Shatterstar nodded and wondered if she...? Could you even die in Smash Bros? Who had her partner been? He struggled to find the words. Instead he asked, "did your powers work?"

“No, it kinda sucked. It seemed like we were so high up…” Why didn't you just jump? We thought we were up high. Why did you have to make it my problem?. “I assume you didn’t either?”

Shatterstar tried to parse, for a moment, the expression on Mel's face. "No. Neither Jessie or I did. I don't know if they would have even helped."

Mel pulled her knees up to her chest almost unconsciously. “It’s scary that someone can jus’ do that. Take it away.”

It was scary to feel powerless. Weak. He nodded and thought for a moment. "I couldn't even feel them."

“Yeah… I guess I took for granted that I could until I couldn’t.” Even now, she felt herself reaching for flight, just to assure herself that it was still there.

"I don't want to be weak like that again," Shatterstar said before turning back to the movie.

Mel wasn’t sure what to say to that, and Shatterstar seemed like he was done with the conversation, so she let the silence be her agreement. On the screen, Arthur Centino’s character rode off into the sunset with his love interest.
