Bobbi and Nica catch up after a rigorous danger room workout that puts Bobbi through her paces.

Bobbi wiped her brow as she sat down inside the locker room, letting out a small puff of air at the same instant her butt plopped down onto the chair. She'd been keeping in shape while she'd been in Europe with Warren, and even more so since their return from across the pond, but she hadn't really pushed herself in a minute. Not until today at least.

"Well, that was fun," she quipped to Nica, smirking a little. "A little more intense than I remember, but that's hardly a bad thing when I'm trying to get back into shape." Stretching her arms up over her head and arching her back, she then slumped back down slightly and looked over at the other woman. "How've you been? It's been a while, hope you're doing well," she added.

For her part, Nica hadn't even broken a sweat, although that was probably more due to the fact she'd spent most of the session in one of her light forms rather than being fitter than Bobbi. She grinned at the older woman as she unzipped her uniform jacket. "I especially liked the part where you zapped me with your batons," she replied. "That was a handy boost. Something we'll have to keep in mind for the field." She hung the jacket in her locker and then joined Bobbi on the bench. "It's really good to have you back, by the way."

"It's a handy trick to keep in mind for sure," she agreed. "I'd be lying if I said I planned it but it came to me in the middle of things. I get a good idea once in a blue moon I suppose," Bobbi said with a chuckle. "Definitely good to remember that. And thank you, I really appreciate it. I've been wondering if I'd be able to get back into some semblance of my former shape, and so far there may be a little hope."

She reached over to a nearby countertop and grabbed a cold bottle of water, pausing before cracking it open to arch an eyebrow in a question whether Nica wanted her to toss one to her first.

"Yes please," Nica said in reply to the unspoken question, deftly catching the bottle as it arced its way over to her. She spun off the cap and took a deep drink before speaking again. "How are you and Warren settling in? It must be a change after Europe?"

"Mm, it's definitely a big change, but it's not as jarring as it was going the other way," she explained. "This is more like returning to the way things were before, albeit with the challenge of being a little older and a little more tired. There's a lotta rust to kick off, though no amount of kicking will turn back the clock," Bobbi added with a sigh.

"S'good to be back, though," she added, grinning before taking another mouthful of water. "I missed the place, the people, and the routine... even if I'm a step or two slower now, it feels good to be moving again, you know?"

"You know what they say, move it or lose it," Nica replied with the easy confidence of a twenty-something at the peak of physical shape. "How are wedding plans going? Or is that the question everyone asks until you're sick of it?"

"Nah, it's a good reminder to be honest," Bobbi answered. "It's going, perhaps not as fast as it should but, well... it's complicated. In a good way," she quickly added. "In that I have way too many options, given Warren's resources, and... it's a little overwhelming at times, if I'm being honest."

She sighed and shook her head. "Look at me, complaining that my fiancé is too rich," she chuckled. "It'll be fine, I know, but yeah... getting back to business like this is a more than welcome distraction," she admitted.

"Well, I'm sure the X-Men will have a nice, distracting mission for you soon," the younger X-Man replied with a giggle. "Besides, there's tons of people here at the mansion willing to give their opinions on decor and flowers and... and cumberbunds. Allllll the opinions."

"Which is more than fine by me... the fewer decisions I need to make, the better," Bobbi said with a grin. "I mean, yeah, I want certain things done in certain ways, but some of the people Warren's hired... they go through things in excruciating detail," she sighed. "Again, first world problems, absolutely, but I'll be happy when this part is done and over with."

She rubbed the back of her neck and moved it in a slow circle. "A mission sounds nice though... not something tragic or horrible, of course, but something to get me back into action... yeah, that'd be amazing. Have you been out in the field much lately yourself?"

"Not since Avignon." A literal shadow fell over the young woman, her glow dimming. "That was... bad."

"Yeah, I... I can only imagine," was all that Bobbi could respond with, biting her tongue for wishing for something like that. Not that that had been the kind of mission she'd wanted, but it had been rather insensitive on her part. Shaking her head, she sighed before continuing. "Sorry, that was dumb of me. I hope we never see anything like that again, of course, I just... wanna help people again, I guess." That was the best way she could put it, at least in the moment.

"No, it's okay!" Now Nica was scrambling to explain herself. "I totally get the wanting to get back into things - I'd love to have a nice simple not life-or-death end of the world mission myself. But I guess we take what comes?"

Bobbi exhaled a relieved sigh, grateful that she hadn't unintentionally offended the other woman. "Yeah, that's all we can do, isn't it? Like the old saying, hope for the best but prepare for the worst. I'm sure we'll get something to test us sooner or later, whether we want it or not," she reckoned. She took another pull from her bottle of water before nodding again in Nica's direction. "You did great today as well, if I didn't say it, by the by."

Nica beamed, her skin glowing brighter at the praise. "I've been working hard to get better," she admitted. "Scott's been pushing me more too." And for once she didn't stutter over using Cyclops' first name.

"It shows," she confirmed. "He is good at that, isn't he?" Bobbi joked, adding a wink to hopefully make it clear she was making light of it, but he really was good at what he did. "Keep it up, and hey, if you ever need an old woman to help get your butt into gear, look no further," she said with a little twirl of her arms in a seated bow towards Nica. "It's good to have someone to push me too."

Hey, Bobbi! Nice to see her hanging out with her new teammates.

It says a lot about wedding stress that she can look at the X-Men and think "Ah, yes, that looks relaxing."
