xp_logsAfter existing the base, Scott and Rogue exchange information.
A touch on the comms linked Scott to the radios, letting him send out a message as the team took a short pause, sinking to the ground to catch their breath. "Rogue, come in. We've found Del and he's...alive. Not in the best shape but still alive, we're currently extracting him now. What's the situation looking like at your end?
Rogue grabbed her comm wearily. "Glad to hear 'bout Del. Wish we had better news here. Turns out those Weapon X bastarda are back an' his daddy is in bed with AIM. I'm tired, boss. So fucking tired."
"They're like a bad penny, we can never seem to get rid of them," a sigh slipped form Scott's lips as he rubbed a hand over his face, shaking hishead, "Good job confirming that. Get out safe and we'll figure out a plan to handle them later."
Desicions are made about what to do with Del Frye.
When everyone reconvened and had managed to catch their breaths, the kid- Del- was shakily holding a water bottle and leaning against Rick's car as the older man helped make sure he actually got something in his system. Who knew if he had to drink or eat anymore, and if he had anything in his system since he had been mistakenly buried?
Finally, mostly clear-eyed and alert at last Del looked over this group of people and found the one face he knew- Sooraya's. "What- what's gonna happen to me?"
"We're going to figure that out right now." Sooraya moved through the group, stopping only a little distance right now. "Somewhere safe where they can make sure you are completely okay and where you will have the chance to catch your breath." Turning her head to face the group, she added: "I was in touch with Moira before this. I think that still would be a good idea. I can reach out easily, see what she says."
"She does have rather a lot of experience with unusual health crises," remarked Marius, speaking from exhaustive personal experience. He caught Nica's eye. "We should be able to soak up any errant gamma 'til more permanent containment is arranged, correct?"
"Wonder... Triplet? Powers unite?" replied Nica with a grin. "But seriously, yes. Between you, Rogue and I, we've got any leakage covered. There's noting to worry about there."
"She said me and my dad might go to that mutant doctor, I think, before..." Del nodded in Sooraya's direction as he trailed off. It was too soon for him to even begin to think about if he had actually been dead or not. "Uh, where is my dad? Am I gonna go home before..?"
Rick grimaced at the question. He clearly had no clue how to break it to the kid that his father wasn't who he idolized him to be. "Del..." He started and looked to the group that knew more for help.
"Your dad made some mistakes." Kyle offered. "Some of those have some consequences he's going to have to work through. I'm not sure..." He glanced at his team, made a brief nod at Scott and met Sooraya's eyes. "Look, this is probably not the best place to give you the details. Your dad's probably going to be dealing with some legal stuff though, maybe for a while."
"And a lot of that is still being figured out." Sooraya added hesitantly before continuing with her voice firmer: "I will make arrangements for you to go to Muir as soon as possible, so Dr. MacTaggert can make sure you are okay. And we'll do our best here to figure out what is going on with your dad and if you can talk to him for a bit. How does that sound?"
Even with his skull exposed and his skin translucent, it doesn't hide the body language which was saying that Del was hurt by the reveal that his father was having legal problems. But he also seemed resigned.
"Oh Dad..." He mumbled. The looked up to Sooraya. "I mean, that was the plan anyway, right?"
"And it's probably the best we can do right now as well." Sooraya nodded decisively. "Turning towards Scott, she added: "I'll go make the arrangements."
A short nod before Scott gestured towards the car, "Let's get out of here to a safer spot first, then we can set up arrangements to contain the radiation till you can arrange for Moira to stop by and pick Del up."
