Finding himself at a loose end for an hour, Angelo made a quick trip to the
kitchen to grab a snack, then headed for the rec room. As he pushed open
the door, he quickly realized someone else had got there first.

Jubilee looked up as she heard a noise at the door and smiled. Her math
homework had once again been mocking her with its sheer will to remain
unsolved. 'Time for a break' she decided. "Yo Angelo, what's up. Dude?"

Angelo grinned at her from the doorway. "Nothin' much, just killin' some
time. You?"

Jubilee sighed, pointing to her math homework. "Dude, it's mocking me, like
totally. And I'm supposed to have it in tomorrow so I can't even put it off
and go play on the X-Box." Pondering, Jubilee suddenly grinned. "Ya know,
if you were talkin' to me and stuff, it wouldn't be like I was really
neglecting my studies, cause, not talking to someone whose talkin' to you,
that'd be totally rude. So, what'ya say, save me from the math beast?
Pllleeeeassseee."

Angelo chuckled, pretending to think hard about it. "Weellll... I suppose
I could manage some distraction from the math beast for awhile. But if Dr.
McCoy asks, I had nothin' to do with you not gettin' it in on time."

Jubilee grinned. "I promise, not a word. So, it's weird, I'm kinda thinkin'
I should ask how you're feelin' and stuff but you look fine. I ain't been
talkin' to people much lately, I guess. How was LA? Is it changed at all?
Been so long since I thought about it."

Angelo nodded. "Yeah, I'm doin' better now. LA was... about the same.
But I was really only in the little bit I used to live in, don't even know
if it's the same place you're from. Be kind of a weird coincidence if it
was, though."

Jubilee laughed, burrowing her way into the soft couch in order to get
comfy. "Sit down, we can like, see what's on tv and mock soap operas while
we talk. Where in LA you from? I was sorta close to the coast, touristy
type place, really. Meant I didn't have too much trouble gettin' enough
money to survive. You ever been to the ocean there? First time I saw it,
felt like it had to be a dream, ya know? Never saw so much water anywhere
in my life and people were out in it, I thought they were crazy, takin' on
somethin' that big."

Angelo sat down, smiling a little wistfully. "Once, a long time ago. I
was just a little kid. An' I was from one of the inner-city neighborhoods
- which is why I only went to the ocean once. Not too much money for
things like that."

Jubilee grinned. "It's definitely something. With it gettin' closer to
summer, maybe we can convince the adults to take us all on a field trip to
the beach. So, you as stressed with studying for finals as everyone else
seems to be? I mean, I know I should be too but kinda just can't seem to
get the energy up for a good stress out right now. Never understood why
people got so worked up about tests, it's like, you go in there and do your
best and if things don't work out you just keep going at it till you beat
the sucker." Jubilee pressed the power button on the remote control,
quickly flipping through television channels. "So, what you up to watching?
Something science fiction-y? There's supposed to be a good Babylon 5
episode on soon."

Angelo grinned. "If you think we can talk them into it, I'm all for it.
An' we can watch whatever you want - Babylon 5 sounds good."

Jubilee grinned back. "Dude, remember who you're talkin' to, if they don't
want to I'll just be as annoying as I can till they change their mind in
simple self defence."

She winked and flipped the channel over to the Sci-Fi channel, noting that
Babylon 5 wouldn't start for at least another half hour. "Cool, we've got
time to make munchies then. Come on, kitchen raiding time. Can't watch
television without popcorn at least. So, like, what's your favourite tv
watching food then?"

Angelo blinked, laughing as they headed for the door. "Uh... well, any
kind of junk food, really. Popcorn's good."

Jubilee opened the fridge door, looking inside and she motioned Angelo to
get the corn and saucepan out of the cupboards. "Cool, there's soda left
too. We like totally need someone to go shopping soon though, serious lack
of munchies you don't have to spend an hour cooking happening here. So, how
you doin' with finals? Everyone has been so stressed lately, like you can
cut the tension with a knife, ya know? Me, I don't know, s'not like I don't
care, ya know? Cause hey, good grades are good when I've gotta do something
with my life later on, like get a good job and support myself and stuff.
But, I seriously don't understand the stressing. I mean, it's not like the
teachers want you to fail, right?"

Angelo chuckled, moving to the cupboard to get what they needed. "Well,
no, but just 'cause they don't want you to doesn't mean you won't. An' you
know what our resident tech geniuses can get like even when it's not
finals time. Stands to reason it'd be more so now. I'm doin' what I can -
I'm gonna stick around another year, anyway. Need to catch up on what I
missed while I was sick, an' from before that. Didn't go to school more
than I could help, back home."

Jubilee nodded. "I've got at least another year, I think. I've been kinda
taking classes as I need them, rather then any set schedule. Cause when I
first got here, I so needed to take English and Math classes to just catch
up with everyone and then later on, I started taking some of the more fun
stuff like CompSci. Having Kitty as a roommate tends to mean you get
introduced to computers early on and they were kinda cool, so I decided to
give it a go. I'm pretty good at it now too, although not anywhere near
Kitty or Doug's level. Still, makes me proud to know I did a lot of it
myself, with a little help from my friends. I, didn't have a lot of time
for school for a long time when I was younger. I'll admit there's a long
way for me to go before I'm anywhere near people the same age as me. Kinda
sucks, sometimes. Hearing about people talking about college and knowing
I've got at least another year of study before I'm even ready to think
about it."

Angelo shrugged. "Gives us more time to decide if we want to, I figure.
An' I think most of those who're goin' to college are stayin' local - I
know Marie an' Kitty are plannin' on it, an' I probably will too, when it's
time."

Jubilee grinned. "You know, I hadn't thought of it like that before but
you're right. Okay, can you think of anything else we need for Babylon 5
viewing?"

Jubilee was having fun, it was nice to simply talk to people again, she'd
been avoiding everyone for so long she'd forgotten how nice it was to just
shoot the breeze with someone.

Angelo grinned back, glancing around the kitchen. "Hm. Popcorn, check.
Soda, check. Is that salt or sweet popcorn? If it's salt, we should try
an' find somethin' sweet as well."

Jubilee munched on some of the newly made popcorn. "Salt popcorn, so hmm. I
think I saw some chocolate fudge in the fridge before. They look like the
storebought stuff, so we won't be denying anyone their hard-earned spoils.
And we gotta get back to the rec room, only two minutes till the show
starts. Come on, I think Marcos is in this episode too, he's my fav
character."

Angelo grinned and moved to the fridge to grab the fudge. "Okay, looks
like we're all set. Back to the rec room it is, then, 'fore somebody else
claims the TV."
