Emily, Sharon, and Tommy witness the animal kingdom in action in the halls of the mansion.
It was an invasion. From under every piece of furniture, every nook and cranny, and balls of fluff emerged into a hoard of dusty enemies. Tommy darted to and fro around the mansion, trying to keep them contained, but there were just too many. A different strategy was needed.
Suddenly, the speedster remembered what he had seen careening down the halls just a few moments ago. "Perfect!"
***
Emily had been slowly following what appeared to be a migratory pattern of the Pulvis egestas aka Dust Bunnies when she noticed Sharon in hybrid form, tail twitching softly as she watched the bunnies.
“Sharon!” Emily softly hissed, unwilling to startle the creatures. “Don’t you dare.”
"They demonstrate rudimentary awareness," Sharon said, still crouched against the floor. Her eyes remained locked on the dustbunnies. "This is new. The ability to move under their own power also." She crouched lower, and her hindquarters began to wiggle. "I must know if they possess organs.”
Emily quickly placed herself over the stream of dust, and held a hand palm out at Sharon.
“You shall not pass.” She said in her best impersonation of Gandalf. “Mostly though, that cannot be at all hygienic, you’ll get lock jaw and have to have a massive needle.”
"I have been vaccinated. I have the most vaccinations. Common human vaccines, and every year I receive shots for FVRCP and rabies also. No virus can survive within me." The great cat seemed to be on the verge of pouncing when she paused, one ear twitching forward. Sharon lifted her head and peered past the dustbunnies she'd been stalking to something further down the hall.
Emily turned in spite of the fact that that move had been used since the dawn of time to make people look. She gasped as she saw the roombas moving as a pack, the front members of the pride moving to cut off the trail of dust bunnies as other members started hoovering up the main train of creatures.
“Nooo! The bunnies!”
Tommy cackled manically behind the vacuum cleaners, chanting, “Fight! Fight! Fight!” The bunnies started to overwhelm one of them, holding their own.
Sharon's ears pricked forward. "Yes, fight," she said, eyes shining with bloodlust. "Prove to us who is strongest. The victor shall be my opponent."
The cat lunged towards the action with a speed usually reserved only for laser pointers. Unfortunately, her enthusiasm was matched by her acceleration.
Braking on a hardwood floor was never an option.
Tommy tracks down Billy, and his phone spouts some unhelpful suggestions.
