Out by the pool on a summer's day, Alex and Lorna continue their tradition of being cute and incorporating water sports. Insulin is a must. Plot seekers need not apply.

Sometimes, Lorna reflected, it wasn’t a total hardship being away from California. The sun still shone with the same heat despite the latitude change and she could still manage a decent tan. Plus, she glanced over at the bright blue of the pool, the scenery remained superb. “Are you sure you aren’t part fish?” she called laughingly to Alex.

Alex popped his head up from the depths in time to catch her call and he laughed as he shook his head, water flying. "I do wonder sometimes if I have the wrong mutation." He swam over to the edge near her and leaned his arms over the edge. "You really should come in...the water feels great!"

Lorna shook her head and shifted position slightly on the lounging chair, “Not gonna happen. I’m looking to get a tan, not turn wrinkled and pruney.” She grinned at him. “Besides I much prefer to just watch you.”

He grinned as he jumped out of the pool, dripping wet and not caring. "Well, all that sun bathing must be making you thirsty. Want something while I raid the kitchen?"

Lorna lifted her sunglasses as his shadow fell on her face. "Iced tea would be great since you're offering. I made some this morning."

He grinned. "Yes, ma'am." He gave her a mock salute before grabbing a towel and heading toward the house. A few moments later, he was rushed out of the house by an adult (which happened to be Scott) protesting his dripping on the floors, carrying a glass of ice tea in one hand and a coke in the other. Smiling to himself, Alex headed back to the pool. "Ice Tea, ma'am."

“Thank you, good sir.” Lorna sat up to take the glass. “Your tip.” She beckoned him to bend down further so she could kiss him. His wet hair dripped cool water onto her sun-warmed skin causing her to giggle at the sensation.

Alex gladly complied, giving her a kiss before plopping down in the chair next to her and taking a sip of his coke. "Ahh, that's good. You sure you don't wanna come in?” He asked as he set the drink aside and stood up to dive back in.

“Very sure.” She watched him with a little smile, admiring the long line of his back somewhat possessively then narrowed her eyes, “Don’t you dare dive in right there and splash me.”

Alex held up his hands defensively. "Hey, I know better then that. But if you’re sure..." He headed off around the pool to the diving board, while watching Lorna out of the corner of his eye.

“As sure as I am that your brother is a nag.” Lorna stretched lazily, sipping her iced tea. Unsweetened and slightly bitter, just the way she liked it. She rolled over onto her stomach, dragging her hair off her back, head turned so she could watch the pool.

Thankfully, the board was out of her line of sight, so Alex took a small detour. Instead of going to the diving board, he doubled back so he was behind Lorna’s chair. Taking a deep breath, he waited a moment to make sure she didn't see him before taking action.

Lorna had about three shocked seconds before she hit the water and several more below it to realise what a dirty, underhanded trick her darling boyfriend had just pulled. She surfaced with a shriek, shoving her loose green hair out of her face. “Alex Summers, I’m going to kill you!”

Alex was doubled over laughing on the side of the pool, barely able to breathe, he was laughing so hard.

Lorna swam over to the edge and grabbed his hands, curling to place her feet against the wall "Dead, I tell you. So very very dead." She pushed off the wall with her legs and yanked him in then did her very best to drown him.

After thrashing about, making sure Lorna got splashed by most of it, Alex squirmed out of her grasp and collected Lorna in his arms. After giving her a quick kiss and smirk, he threw her into the water again.

Or tried to. She clung to him tightly and took him with her, both vanishing under the cool water. Unable to remain mad at him, she kissed him while they remained submerged, breaking away as they resurfaced. “You’re a horrible brat,” she informed him with great affection.

He couldn't help but smirk and give her a quick peck on the nose. "I try."

“Why does that not surprise me?” She tread water for a moment, scraping her hair away from her face again. She pulled a strand in front of her face, “On the bright side, at least I don’t have to worry about the dye stripping off. Never could go swimming before without worrying about that.”

Alex took the strand from her fingers, kissed it melodramatically then pushed it behind her ear. "I always thought Emerald Green was a lovelier shade then Desert Fawn was it?"

"Autumn Fawn," she corrected automatically, "Desert Fawn is more blonde." She looped her arms around his neck and let him hold her up, refusing to do any work to keep them afloat.

Which was absolutely fine because he could easily hold them both up by treading with his legs. "Oh right...I still like the green better." He grinned as he held her around the waist.

"And that is reason number one that I don't dye it every six weeks anymore." She kissed him, idly tangling her legs with his so he couldn't kick.

Distracted by the kiss, he doesn't notice the impediment to his kicking until too late. They go under again for a moment, Alex coming back up at a depth he can stand and he looks around for Lorna.

She slipped away and was giggling to herself in the deepest part of the pool, holding onto the ladder, obviously pleased with herself.

Alex saw her and smirked. Diving under, he easily swam the length of the pool under water and began to tickle the bottoms of her feet.

Lorna shrieked and twisted away. Proving she was no slouch underwater herself, she dove down to get away, coming up behind him and clinging to his back, forcing his head underwater.

Thankfully he'd come up for a quick breath before getting dunked back under again. After struggling a bit, Alex pulled himself up on the ladder, so both he and Lorna were part way above the water, then fell backwards.

She let go instantly, getting out from behind him and swimming away to the shallow end of the pool, standing up and waiting patiently for him to follow.

Once he came up again and found her, he swam quickly over to her. Standing beside her, Alex kissed a few drops off her forehead. "Now, was that so bad?"

She smiled as he kissed her, "Considering my lotion wasn't waterproof and now it has to be totally reapplied?" She climbed out of the pool and walked back to her lounge chair, snitching his towel since she hadn't brought one of her own. She picked up the sunscreen and waved it at him, "Wanna help?"

Smiling, he practically skipped over. "Are you kidding? I'm surprised you had to ask." Alex didn't mind being dripping wet, so the no towel wasn't a problem. He pulled another lounge chair closer then grabbed the bottle from her hand.

Not bothering to suppress her smirk, Lorna laid down on her stomach again. "Well, I don't like to assume. I mean, I assumed you wouldn't throw your beloved girlfriend into the pool but you did so, you know. I asked."

Alex opened the bottle and squirted some of the white lotion into his hands. He kissed her neck, before applying the lotion to her back, mixed with a mini massage, courtesy of his earlier lessons. "Come on...you know it's because I love you that I threw you in. A boy can only resist so much temptation."

Her response was half-agreement, half-contented sigh. "I still say it was a sneaky thing to do. Oh...shoulder...to the right, yeah."

He grinned as he found the spot in question. "I'm guessing I'm making up for though, aren't I?" Alex raised an eyebrow even though she couldn't see.

"Slowly making up for it," she agreed, "Very slowly." She turned her head a bit to look around. "What happened to my iced tea?"

Looking around, Alex spotted the missing tea on the same table as his coke. "One moment." He stood and retrieved the missing beverages. "Better?" He asked as he handed her the glass.

She rolled onto her back to sip it, squinting up at him. "Almost. I think you drowned my sunglasses." She smiled to show she was joking.

He grinned when he picked up the joke. "I'd go retrieve them, but then you wouldn't let me do this..." He wrapped his arms around her waist and laid down next to her on the lounge chair, holding her close.

She curled around him and then mischievously pressed her ice cold glass against his neck.

He jumped, but didn't let go. "Alright, alright," he said whilst laughing. "Are we even yet?"

She chuckled, "I'll let you know." She snuggled into him, pleased with this turn of events even if it meant she wasn't going to be getting that perfect tan today.
