Set Sunday, early afternoon.
Super Miles, to the rescue!
Mansion grounds
Miles peered around the corner of the house, wondering if it had been his imagination or if - no. There it was again. A pitiful sound but real nonetheless and the weakness of it was not at all to his taste. Scrambling down the footpath Miles trotted towards the bushes lining the side of the mansion and then went down to all fours, stopping again to listen carefully.
Again. Closer this time. Patiently the little boy edged closer, trying to locate the source of the feeble cries.
A minute later, leaves clinging to his shirt and mud smeared all over his knees and hands, Miles was peering down at a muddy bundle of fur, the kitten tiny enough to fit in his hands easily. Pinkness appeared in the middle of all the grayish brown, tongue curling over a nearly inaudible plaintive cry.
Alison wasn't there and he couldn't ask her to help.
But that was all right. Miles knew where to go.
