Alex and Lorna get some cute in before his trip to Japan. Alex worries about the X-men and Lorna gets to rant on pets...again.

I apologize in advance for the misspeallings and stuff. I saved this on my laptop that's going to college which I just found out has no Word or word processor with a decent spell check to speck off yet. So bare with me and just let the cute shine through!

Alex walked casually down the hallway, as casually as a worried blonde can get. Both Scott and Lorna and disappeared a few days ago for gods knows where, most likely, and to Alex's fright, on an X-Men mission. He knocked on the suite door, hoping beyond hope Lorna was there.
"Come in," Lorna called, after checking that the door was unlocked. She was lying on the couch with a textbook on her chest and legs kicked up on the seatback, trying to at least sort of uphold the pretense that she was a serious student. She'd been staring at the ceiling for the last five minutes.
Alex walked in and was terribly relieved to see Lorna lying on the couch. He walked over and knelt by the head of the couch and leaned over her, letting his blonde hair fall over her face. "Hey, back from your big adventures?"
She smiled at him and ran her hand through his hair, "You need a haircut." Avoiding the question was mostly a reflex. She'd chewed off her lipstick while studying, revealing that her lips were still slightly green-tinged. "You'll have to do that before you leave."
"You know I didn't come in here to talk about my hair, which I like thank you very much." He leaned his arms on the arm of couch. "What happened a few days ago? I worry when my brother and girlfriend suddenly disappear." His face was serious so she wouldn't dodge the question again.
She sighed, "I went to Iceland. We're all fine." She'd been nursing a headache the size of that damn mountain when they got back and not just her lips but her fingertips had been green but they were fine. Really.
Now Alex noticed the green lips and frowned. "Are you sure...or are you wearing green lip stick to match your hair?"
Lorna licked her lips and made a face when she realized why he'd asked. "No, actually the lipstick wore off but I swear I'm fine. This happened after the hurricane too, remember?"
It took Alex a moment to remember, but he did and nodded. He sighed and came around the couch so he could sit next to her on the floor instead of over her. "I guess I"m just overreacting huh?" He asked sheepishly.
Lorna smiled a bit ruefully, "Not really. If the situation was reversed, I would probably be having lots more hysterics." She reached down and picked up his hand, taking comfort from his presence. "But you have to trust us. Me and Scott and the rest of the team--we're doing our best."
"I know...Just...After Scott told me what happend to Jean...I couldn't help but get a bit worried every time he went off on a mission. And now with you too..." He grinned again sheepishly. "I'll try and get over it."
She felt bad, telling him that he shouldn't fear for her or his brother. And it was hypocrisy because she herself was terrified. "You would have liked Jean. Everyone did," she said instead of making it worse. Then sighed because it wasn't any better either, "It's not risk-free. We can be hurt and I won't always be able to tell you before I leave."
"I know I know...But I still don't have to like it..." He frowned before shaking his head and kissing her. "So...what are you going to so with yourself while I'm gone huh?"
"Oh, I thought I'd start my days by moping and sighing a lot then move on to waiting by the phone and checking my email every ten minutes," she responded lightly, grateful for the subject change. She tugged on his hand to get him to come sit on the couch rather than the floor and slid into a seated position herself. "After that I thought I'd drift through the halls like a broken woman, unable to eat or sleep until you return. Mine will be a life of great woe until you return."
Alex laughed as he did what was asked of him, wrapping his arms around her waist to get some cuddling in. "So melodramatic."
She grinned and snuggled in close. "I live for drama. That and coffee are how I get through the day." She actually didn't have the slightest clue of what she would do while he was gone and hadn't ruled moping out entirely just yet.
"Oh I'm offended. I don't make the list?" He tried to look mock offended but failed.
Lorna giggled and kissed him, "You, my darling, are far more than just how I get through the day."
Alex grinned. "Good, you had me worried there..."
"Again? How dreadful of me, I've made you worry twice in the same day. I guess I owe you." She laughed, "Name your price."
Again he laughed. "Hmm.. I have to consider this carefully...What are you willing to offer, my sweet? Need to know what I'm dealing with." He wiggled his eye brows in fun.
"All I have is yours," she answered, "My land, my home, my possessions, my heart. All yours for the asking." She'd dropped back into the same melodramatic tone she'd used before, one hand gesturing expansively.
He tried hard not to laugh but it was hard. "Alright, how about dinner? I should take advantage of dating the resident chef every one in a while. What delicacy can you whip up for us?"
She tapped her finger against her chin thoughtfully, "I think there might be some ground beef around here. How do you feel about a cheeseburger?" She was still feeling a bit lazy.
"I'm a teenge boy, do you think I'm going to turn down anything with 'burger' in the name?" He grinned. "You really are tuckered out aren't you? I was expecting something I'd never heard off." Alex grinned to show he was teasing then He kissed her gently. "But yes, a cheeseburger is fine."
"If it's something you've never heard of, I do have this korean recipe I just found. But then again, someone would probably be upset to lose their dog." She kept her face perfectly serious, giving him no indication how much of that statement was true.
Alex couldn't help but snort. "Someone's against the recent invasion of the poochs I see..."
"Dogs, cats, birds! Someone has to be the voice of reason. It's a big house but honestly, there was a time when you didn't have to worry that your shoes were going to be something's lunch." She shook her head.
Alex couldn't help but laugh. "For some reason I think you'l be fine as long as you keep your door closed. I actually think they're kind of cute...I always wanted a dog when I was kid but my parents thought Scott was allergic, which I'm guessing he isn't if the Professor is allowing it..."
Lorna rolled her eyes, "If only. But nope, no allergies here. You'd think we'd have at least one person with the decency to be allergic to pet dander but no, healthy as horses every last one." She got to her feet and pulled him with her then eyed him suspiciously, "You're not thinking of getting some furry thing yourself, are you?"
Alex put his hands up in defense. "I can barely take care of myself, you think I need another animal dependent on me?" He wrapped an arm around her waist. "Fat chance..."
She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him, "Good to hear." She smiled, "Not that I'm opposed to animals. Just to twelve of them."
"Right, dully noted. Maximum animals limit of the mansion is now 12." He kissed her back, spinning her around a big as he did. "Now..about that cheeseburger..?" His stomach rumbled right on cue and he blushed.
She laughed, "Right away. I may even make pomme frites."
Alex blinked. "Pomme wha...?"
She led the way out of the room, "French fries, love. French fries."
